Just refer Dennis Lilee's and Jeff Thomson's body language., which is available via numerous videos, from 1978 - till their retirement, they were behaving like shy brides, when playing against the West indians. They were treated very sweetly by some west indians of those era. Plenty of videos are there, by the West indians, who had suffered in that series, who had alleging Australian ugly behavior. West Indies, had the best cricket team, even before Sylvester Clarke and Collin Croft., they had defeated England in England 3 - 1., but before the next meeting with the Australians, they brought these two gentlemen, to treat ugly Australian sledgers. Everybody knows, what Sylvester Clarke had done, for a passive comment, by a Pakistani spectator. When he come to know about the ill deeds of the Australians, inflicted unceremoniously, on the West Indians., then it should have been really painful for the Australian sledgers and Abusers. The result was clearly evident on that 1981 series, staged in Australia. Absolutely submissive body language by Dennis Lilee&co, before the West Indians. Both Sylvester Clarke and Collin Croft were faster., they were taller, stronger and extremely ferocious. Lilee scolded and abused shorter people like Javed Miandad and Sunil Gavasker., leaving out Imran and kapil Dev., this speaks volumes about his mental strength, and what a coward he was in his playing days

Sylvester Clarke and collin Croft., perfect antidotes for these ugly Australian sledgers, invented by the greatest captain in cricket history, clive Lloyd. If these gentlemen had played, in this series.,the result would have been reversed. You may have to visit Dennis Lilee, Jeff Thomson,in mortuary. Everybody knows how Sylvester Clarke take things, particularly, after that incident in Pakistan. He was the fastest bowler of his time, and he proved it in the slow pitches of India and Pakistan. Jeff Thomson alway struggled in slow pitches. Even in 1975, when he was at his fastest, he struggled miserably in England. He always failed against Pakistan., both at home and in Pakistan. Dennis Lilee and all other Australian bowlers, generally struggled in Asia, while West indians thrived and conquered, everywhere.

1976 series between Australia and West lndies, was staged with the most disgraceful and shameful incidents in cricket history, well above the body line series., Plenty of racial abuse and sledging were involved, along with body line from Australian gentlemen, at the helm of affairs, ably supported by a team of sledgers, including Dennis Lilee and Jeff Thomson.West Indies lost that series, very badly, just because of this continued torture. clive Lloyd, himself described it as bruised and battered. But he comeback strongly with gutsy People like Sylvester Clarke and Collin Croft., they were extremely quick bowlers too. Jeff Thomson tried to repeat his 1976 Show by aggression, during the 1978 series, happened in West Indies. This time tamed him up wasting no time. The poor fellow got the necessary lessons, and was reformed. History says., Dennis Lilee and co along with these two leaders were extremely obedient and well mannered, when playing against the West Indies, although they were often arrogant against others. It is wonderful too see, a scared Dennis Lilee and Jeff Thomson, when playing against West Indies

That footage of watching the lads necking cold ones after winning their first match in Barbados is great to see, it’s sad to see the sterile, politically correct environment these days, Aus won 2023 WC and all they do is stupid dances

We didn't know it at the time but the Frank Worrell trophy would become less and less relevant in the years that would follow with the West Indies going from cricketing giants to minnows in the last decade or two.

00:11:14 to 00:11:38. I can sort of understand it at the time, defending the Steve Waugh ‘catch,’ feeling under siege from the crowd and not wanting to back down. But after it was all over and they’re making this video … come on!

This was covered live on free to air TV which was very rare back then for matches in the Caribbean. I remember staying up all night to watch the Waugh bothers 4th Test partnership and going to work without a wink of sleep, then I stayed up until about 4AM the next night to watch Steve reach 200 The next day was a rest day so I was able to get some sleep then stayed up til 4AM the next night to see Australia win and make history.

This was real Test cricket. It was a war out there. Mental toughness, supreme skill and the ability to deal with physical pain were necessary to achieve success. It was the birth of one of Australia's greatest test teams. McGrath and Warne were to become two of the greatest bowlers of all time. The Waugh brothers tough and skillful world class batsmen. We then added Ponting Hayden and Langer with Gilchrist and Brett Lee in the following years to be become an amazing team that could win just about anywhere.

A lot of people saw the Waugh twins as detached. But they just knew each other so well that verbal communication wasn't even needed. Is this not in fact a higher level of understanding? Great entertainment this series. A genuine team effort with 11 players doing their job. Imagine talented players like Ponting Langer Rackemann and May not playing in the tests and doing it without Fleming and Mc'Dermott as well. Huge effort.

Watching this makes me realise I truly missed out never going to fhe West Indies to watch a test series. I was 19 for this one, should have gone in 99. What an atmosphere it must have been. Maybe a Windies resurgence will bring this kind of contest back again… Let’s pray 🙏🏻 Richie’s omments at the end were sour grapes, first West Indies captain to lose a series in 20 years no wonder he was salty, but unforfunatley for him our bowlers stood up and Steve Waugh, cometh the hour cometh the man… Absolute legend.
