hey!! Love your content! What do you tnink about Kiora, the rising tide in belcher?
could definitely be tested as a sb card maybe? an alt wincon? could force people to keep in removal. only good in longer/grindy matchups because unless we change the deck significantly this deck does not get threshold online quickly. Most of the games I play I have less than 7 in the gy (5 with her trigger obviously)
also thanks! glad you love the content!
1:07:18 Could you play specimen to change target or this is doesn’t work? And what happen if u cast commandeer to steal replicated consign Does replicated consign triggers gonna be cancelled if u cast commandeer on consign to memory? Thanks!
The short answer to the specimen is no. The etb trigger can't redirect consign to the specimen(or it's etb trigger which is what I assume you would think) since it wasn't on the stack when consign was cast and wouldn't be a legal target. As far as commandeer goes the real answer is you can't use it vs. Consign. Every judge I've talked to agrees. So don't try it in paper. Online currently - mtgo is bugged so that if an op cast a consign with replicate. You can commandeer the original spell to counter the replicate trigger. ive been told this doesn't work. I don't entirely understand why but that's not my job! So I say, use it online. Hopefully your opponents get a refund from mtgo. Let's hand out free leagues until they fix the bug!
@ thanks
Can u explain why now belcher has mountain in sideboard not even an island
Hey! Basically it's an "answer" to white orchard phantom and boseiju and cleansing fire. It helps us not get set back on mana. The reason it's mountain and not island is that on the chance gour op doesn't get a LD spell, when you activate belcher and have a mountain you typically only need to reveal about 8 cards before it (since it will do double damage) vs. If it was an Island it would need tk reveal 16+ to kill. It's a risk payoff situation. Sometimes mountain won't cast whir. But, is it more often that an Island wouldn't kill the op? I don't think anyone has a definite answer. The reality is someone with a 5-0/high challenge finish had mountain and since then people just copy pasta the list!
as was said already. the short is - people are just copying a list. The long is, someone decided to hedge against still having mountain in the deck vs. playing island which is better at casting the spells in the deck against the field of ruin/gq/boseiju/cleansing/white orchard that are getting increasingly popular in modern SBs
I feel like these belcher decks have been my kryptonite recently. I have resorted to playing pithing needles in my frogtide deck sideboard, because I had a league where 3 out of 5 of my games were against belcher. I lost all of those 3
Well I do apologize for popularizing and preaching belcher for months!! Haha you would definitely fair better vs. This red list then the blue belcher lists. I assume you have 4 consign to memory already? The biggest thing against belcher is don't ever leave the shields down on turn 3+. try to not let whir resolve, or tameshi if you can help it. Maybe try running some surgical? A surgical on bloom/tameshi really limit the decks "outs" and mean it has to have 7 lands in play to whir for belcher or win at sorcery speed so much easier to manage!
I'm your biggest fan🎉
Have you built a budget deck under 50 bucks before and won a tournament
I have not done this specifically though I have often built budget versions of decks and specifically budget combo. this list looks like its only 34 TIX right now - so very budget online! In paper the MFDC lands are expensive (buy the new ones now while they are ultra-cheap) even valakut awakening is $8 and shatterskul $6ish.
Recently joined the community, lovely people! Just for reference, the sink (that you commandeered) fizzled because was missing legal target since it says OPPONENT control.
Glad you joined! :) there are a few odd ones in the bunch - but overall great community. I realized this after - I may have said it out loud during the video but yeah, it just "fizzled" wasn't "countered"
first lol
well done :) appreciate it haha
FYI you're exhaling directly into the mic. I would move it away from your mouth/nose are maybe put it at an angle instead of directly in front of/below your face. Good games though.
Sorry about this! Listening back it does sound like a lot of my inhales were picked up and obviously when I blow out air in a sigh it's bad. My apologies!
❤ 🔥🔥
so close to greatness...burning people down on turn 2!
i was testing a rakdos mix of belcher and opps thoughts on the handling seems good but also a dead draw in counter match ups and instead build a way to use creativity
Rakdos was a direction i considers, as well as Boros. I settled on being more "all-in" in mono red. It does limit the options. I assume you mean indomitable creativity? Could definitely be a list that uses it...but you cant play the Pinnacle Monks - or any other "creature" land which puts a hard limit on your MFDCs. You have a list in mind? Would definitely take a look and possibly take it out for a league
I sadly don't have a list anymore as I went to a different build but I felt even hitting off some lands more ways to see belcher wasn't bad even losing some lands as the mana fixing for the lands you do lose
@@danielsash2079 I might try and craft one here in a bit :) having fun with mono red, and oops all spells!
I was using spy to play thassa to win thru leylines
@danielsash2079 yeah that's the alt wincon in opps makes sense if you had the black spies in!
hmmm interesting approach, but couldnt this list also use lotus bloom like the UW version?
@dipereira0123 lotus bloom is powerful but the earliest you get it is turn 4. And as you saw usually turn 4 is too late for this strategy to win. Even the more "reasonable" and classic RG version was too fast to use bloom. Plus without whir or tameshi it's only good if you have it in your starting hand
Exciting list. Looking forward to seeing this later.
Let me know if you have a list you would like to see played - I will see what I can do. Also let me know if you have a brew you would like help on! enjoy :)
I built a mono white belcher list that I've been having fun playing. Maybe I can run it by you sometime and see what you think?
@bobbycortez9027 definitely! Is it abiding grace and martyr? Or what is the basis? Sunscour is powerful for mono white too... I've been eyeing a uw build with silence and orims chant and isochron scepter in the sb!!
@jimothyroundbottom it's actually kinda mid rangey with a combo finish. When I was building it my friends were expecting it to have chants but it didn't go quite that way. I'll post the list here. Haven't built a sideboard yet so maybe I could get some pointers?
@jimothyroundbottom mono white belcher Lotus bloom 4 Ephemerate 4 Guide of Souls 4 Ocelot pride 4 Reprieve 4 Get lost 2 Razorgrass ambush 4 Legion leadership 3 Flare of fortitude 4 Goblin charbelcher 4 Solitude 4 Suppression ray 3 Emeria's call 4 Skyclave cleric 4 Sejiri shelter 4 Witch enchanter 4 I wanted early turn plays and figured Ocelot pride and Guide of Souls were a great team to tie up the board and could close a game out on their own if the combo doesn't show. Sometimes you get lucky and just go off by turn 4. Flare has been a real all star for me. Able to protect your board and life total long enough to get a shot off with the charbelcher. Anywho, I'm interested in any constructive criticism anyone has to offer. Due to time constraints, my play group often plays 'turbo' matches, best of one with no sb, so i don't have a sb yet, but as we play i can see places where the deck is weak and sb would help. Thanks for taking a look!
@@bobbycortez9027 definitely i will take a look
Have you ever considered the idea of playing 1x of the one ring with whir it’s like playing 5.drawing stuff, protecting yourself and animated it with karn in desperate situations etc
Honestly debates about ring have gone back and forth in the discord. The fact that Whirring for it doesn't give protection is a big deal. BUT with Karn, it might be worth playing 1 in the sb? Not sure. For me, not worth the $$ investment to test it at this point. But, it could be correct. Overall blue belcher has avoided it because its another clunky colorless card in a deck that wants a lot of blue cards!
Great content - keep it coming!
Very bad play g1 vs UR… always Thundertrap !!!
I definitely make mistakes! hope you can learn from them. Thanks for watching :) let me know how many misplays you see on every video ;)
What would you say are the best and worst matchups?
Good question - first - I do think success with the deck relies heavily on the pilot. There is a measure of win % that comes with just playing a powerful deck, but this one has a LOT of decisions and benefits those with an in-depth understanding of modern and all the matchups you can face. That being said - ill go through the top 15 on mtgogoldfish as of this comment. Very good - more than 65% win rate with expert pilot = Amulet, Ruby storm, Eldrazi ramp and Boros energy Good - 55-65% win rate = Breach, Grinding, Jeskai, Goryos, Rakdos, living end medium - 45-55% = Dimir, Belcher, domain zoo Bad matchups are things like - lantern, merfolk, taxes/any mono white field LD deck. Green tron, mill. Even the bad are winnable (as with any deck) but a deck full of countspells always has play!
JW, what is your game plan against a leyline of the void? Genuinely interested
Haven't seen one in modern in a while! but, obviously they exist. Plan is belcher, or beseech for belcher. Can also just cast our dudes to block and attack. It is not easy to beat, but, if the op plays 4 in the sb and mulls for it, they get rewarded on average!
4:56 into your stream, moving on after you talk about concealing your hand and then deploy the genius move of auto yielding and allowing him to thoughtseize you. 😅
haha classic move. rookie mistake. definitely not ideal! you can learn from me :)
first
Great play in Round 3 (round 1 of this video), you navigated the Kozilek's Command very well. If they targetted you with a draw, you could just journey the Thoracle and Pentad. Then you would draw one of them when command resolves and the other on your next turn to win. Goryo's is tough, you played well but sometimes they just have it and you hit your fail rate. Your rematch against Energy was how I feel that matchup should go. You are incredibly favored and if they keep a slow hand with hate, you have time to answer the hate. If they keep an aggressive hand with no hate, you are usually faster than it.
Thanks! definitely felt much better, and the goryos match is what it is right? Game 1 I woulda have won without their thoughtseize. they just had that interaction instead of other things! I mistakenly forgot that Kcommand was Scry X, draw a card. and thought they could have make me draw X cards (which I would not have been able to beat) but as it was, I figured it out. Just took me like 3minutes of staring at the screen to find the right line haha
Some thoughts as a fellow Oops player, I would have kept your 7 in M1G1. They revealed jeggy so you can assume they are on energy- the two turn jolted awake line is definitely safe since you know they won't interact with our GY game 1 and since you are flipping your chills, you will almost definitely have enough life to survive to turn 4. In M2 G2, I think you should have kept 5. On the draw, you get 2 looks at land to set up a protected turn 3 and even if you can't, dimir isnt going to pressure your life total super quickly.
This is the good stuff right here! Learn from this - listen to them!
What software are you using for your games
www.mtgo.com/en/mtgo It is the official magic the gathering software. Arena is used for standard and limited for the most part. MTGO is used for legacy, commander and modern (and pauper). If you are not familiar - you do have to spend real $$ for the cards and to enter the leagues like the one I play in here!
Woohoo the peoples....cannon? The peoples plant monsters?
Elementals
Hello! I'm crexalbo, your round 2 opponent on Lantern. I streamed my side of this matchup as well. I actually watched several of your videos to prepare myself for playing against Belcher, which has now become a meta deck that I need to be aware of. As another small content creator who is dedicated to my pet deck, I really appreciate having access to your content and knowledge. I do think that Lantern is competitive, even in an energy-infested field, but it is an absolute monster to pilot. We do have a Whir build still kicking around though, my friend ENTuO has been playing that a lot. Thank you for playing against me! Your deck is doing really well in the meta and I hope it continues to win.
hey man! small world eh? I am gonna link your video in the description. Like I did say (I know I was losing the whole time so probably sounded salty) I know I mentioned that I loved playing lantern back in the day. It was my first white-bordered deck that then spawned me erasing many a magic cards borders in order to have full white-bordered decks. I played it for a while, and after losing opal played various chalice prison builds still. Big fan! Glad you are enjoying it and doing well with the deck. I think it is well positioned into belcher for sure! makes sense you want it to succeed haha
linked your replay in mine :)
I will also link your video in mine! I'm glad to have stumbled upon another white-border enjoyer. I have white-bordered every Lantern card I own, including three Urza's Sagas. I hope to see you around in the leagues!
@@Fateseal_MTG thats amazing - apparently liking lantern makes you more likely to enjoy white borders who knew!? I offered a service doing commissions and everything. best of luck!

Hi, I love your uBelcher videos, do you have an SB guide?
There is a sb guide (for suggested list) in the primer linked in description! Has lots of other info as well
appreciate the encouragement! and as mentioned - yes, its linked (for free)
Love Tameshi combo! I didn't even think to combine it with landless belcher, that's crazy
Thanks! I actually started the tameshi discord - if you wanted to join. Davius, Nick, DjDia are the other admin there its been hit-or-miss over the year(s) (I forget when it was printed) but always fun. In my following video in this league here. th-cam.com/video/8FFqtWuzbDA/w-d-xo.html I face nick (savior0117 on mtgo) who was trying out Tameshi belcher as well! thanks for the sub! hope you enjoy!
Great stuff!
Thanks!
i see lots of decklist cutting disrupting shoal, any thoughts on that? great vid by the way!!
For me personally its one of my favorite cards - and a big reason to play mono-blue belcher. If you are cutting shoal, and not playing some number of subtlety, snapback, force of negation or commandeer - we start losing the "benefit" of our lands all being spells (to some extent) That being said, results prove more than theory always. Some people have cut shoal and done okay. But, the consensus of people playing the deck (grinding far more leagues than me) is that things like pentad prism, reshape, tamiyo, etc. while good cards/play roles that this 75 is tuned for the current meta.
Awesome video! Looking forward to more in the future
already posted a couple more matches in this league!
great video and guide in general. well spoken, not too slow or quiet. liked!
Thanks for the feedback! Don't go watch my first vids with belcher haha - audio was trash. but, glad it is working well!
Just watched your last video on the deck and thought it was great (liked + subscribed!), just wanted to suggest not putting the win/loss in the title or video chapter titles for people like me who like the suspense lol
Never thought of the suspense! I will take it out in the future. appreciate the feedback!
Sick list
Thanks so much for the primer and sideboard guide! Enjoying the content! Keep up the good work!
appreciate it! you are welcome! hope to do some more belcher stuff soon. It has taken off/become popular so probably more demand now than before!
Really like your Videos. ❤ Do you think the version includinf flare of denial is better? If yes, what do you think of cursecatcher and/or Baral chief of complience over Tamiyo and the other dude?
I think flare is the direction everyone is testing out currently. It is hard to say what the "best" version is. It definitely depends on the meta, and I dont think anyone has found the exact 75 to play with flare yet!
Isn't sink into stupor no land permanents? If so, you can't bounce a land with enchantments on it. Also, is there a reason for running more than 60 cards? From my understanding, you want the consistency of a 60 card deck
yeah -the line I discussed is definitely not legal and I would have discovered that had I tried! also - 61 cards vs. 60 is only a very slight change in probability (less than 1%) though - it is technically correct to only run 60. I wanted to add a teferi and didn't know what to cut so I took the cowards way out and ran 61
Pretty funny deck. Cool two have 2 win cons for sure!
its a real deck these days! Been on the official MTG channel and Aspiringspike streamed a version today!
look at where the deck is now! month later and its in top 10 decks for sure in modern!
Nice video, I suggest you get a better mic, youre quite quiet and there is a bit of a low level hum. Also can you increase card size during deck tech. Look forward to your next video!
appreciate the feedback. I have made a few since - tried to fix the sound quality issues and use better visuals. Let me know what you think! (think I have 4 or 5 after this. Eldrazi aggro, ramp, and breach decks)
I recently won my store champs with this deck (My locals has zero standard players, so we did modern) And in 5 rounds managed the turn 1 once with 0 Serum Powders and 0 Devourers 😁 I also got demolished by someone with 0 permanents after they Deflecting Palm'd my +15 Ulamog
Well done!! Let us know how it continues to go for you! definitely a fun deck when it works!
😂😂😂😂😂
at the deck? or at me forgetting to click "no" to play first?! haha
@@jimothyroundbottom the „No“. Because I feel you bro. Happens to me all the time. But on Stream it hits different I guess. ❤️
@@christianemeka237 oh man...at least it was entertaining for you! haha I was like "really?!?"
We want more videos ! Keep up the great work. Cheers
appreciate the encouragement! Honestly I recorded some, but keep losing! ive tried breach/ramp eldrazi decks and had a bunch of 1-4s and 0-5s even along with 2-3 leagues. The only 3-2 league I had recently was with Hollow One. Maybe ill go back to mono blue belcher or just aggro to try and get some wins in!
No Kreturn vs. the ocelot.dek was brutal!
should probably be cutting the talisman of impulse instead of Rumble vs. storm since we dont need the r/g source that often and rumble can dig for jailer/trinisphere
2 seconds in you say "new version of aggro" I assume you mean "new version of Eldrazi" haha
Love your videos. Keep up the good work! Cheers
thanks! more coming!
You don't need to take anything at 23:00 ....just exile them all for next card
learned me something today. I have played like 20 leagues with devourer and never knew you didn't "have" to choose a card for the top! haha thanks
Isnt endless one not better as mimic in this build? It dodges bowmaster and you dont own many fat creatures anyway for mimic
I think you bring up a valid point - bowmasters is popular in this meta. I originally played some number of Reality smashers as well. Currently its just linebreaker, TKS, and Nulldrifter evokes that trigger mimic (with late game devourer). there is SOME upside there, but, I think Endless one might be better in the slot!
@@jimothyroundbottom I think eldrazi mimic is better in an aggro build. You just need to side it out against orcish bowmasters and have a sideboard plan to substitute it.
