    No need buy a slide hammer, all you gotta do is put your wheel back on, fasten it with 2 lugs and either shake the wheel or hit it from behind with a plastic dead blow hammer. Comes right out.

    I think your supposed to grease where those tabs sticking out from the pads slide into the caliper, not the part the rides on the piston, there is no movement there, no friction. What are those clips for?? Never seen those on any vehicle

    Hello..I tried doing this tie rod change today on my 04 Lexus..I could not get the retaining bolt loosened for nothing. In the video, you say to go clockwise, but it looks like you are going counter clockwise to loosen the bolt? My vehicle was always garage kept, so there isn't any rust issues..I even gave it a few rounds of heat with the torch.. it would not budge. I gave up after 2 hours in, but I will be back for another round soon. Maybe I just didn't have the proper leverage to break it loose..

    What made you replace the hub in the first place? What symptoms were you experiencing or sounds that made you do it? I have an 04 model, and am curious to know why. Thanks again for such an informative video.

      all 4 hubs went bad on mine near 200k miles. they were so corroded it was almost impossible to remove them. I wound up removing the control arm and bringing the knuckles to a machine shop to press out.

      @@jonathannagela2130 Was there anything in particular that gave it away of it being the hub? I'm thinking abt replacing my passenger side hub bcuz for one, I hit a major pothole which I think slightly bent something. Also, it kind of makes like a slight grinding sound as it rolls. So that's why I ask what was it for u that made u want to replace them?

    Just used this video to do a left lower ball joint on my 2001 LS430. An independent shop wanted $615 for part, labor and alignment. I was able to do it myself for less than $200 in parts and tools. Car doesn’t seem like it needs an alignment and will get that when I eventually get new tires anyway…it was easy enough I’m going to do the right one also for good measure and only $115 incremental cost for the OEM part.

    Where should I go to get mine checked out? I'm in Lake Worth Florida. My car is a 2002 LS430/115K miles. Timing belt changed at 110K. The car's engine sounds like a well oiled sewing machine. But I don't know where I can take it where they won't try to upcharge me.

    It was fairly easy replacement until the last 17mm bolt got stuck installing. Something was in the way and I had to use M12x1.25 taper to shave away quite some amount of metal.

    This is an excellent, clean, clear video. Your camera angle and sound are perfect. I enjoyed seeing the complete order of steps to attach the slide hammer and the cardboard to prevent the removed part from chipping the concrete or making a sound. Very important to always torque everything properly. There is no "hand torque wrench" - this is BS of a lazy person, or a half ass. A full job with part numbers - very helpful. Nice touch comparing part numbers. Just because a brand has a part doesn't mean they made it. In this case it is just as cost effective to get it from the OEM supplier. Koyo is on Honda too - even the mid 1980's cars. I was looking for my favorite retired Software Engineer (of 47 years) neighbor. He has a black metallic LS430 with the glorious HID headlights - so good at night, and the light blue tinge to the housings in the daytime. I don't have a slide hammer, but will buy the same as yours (thank you Prime). If I did not work until 1AM and fall asleep in my car I would have helped him in a heartbeat (he is in his 70's). I woke and the car was on the ground with all 4 wheels. The Public Works welder neighbor probably got him set. Sorry to write a life story, I like these cars a lot. In San Diego the older ones are lowered a bit (enough to pass DMV...) with free flow, deep sound exhaust. Like three that hang out. A darth looking car and great V8 sound.

    You need to use a jack to load the suspension when torqueing down the A-arm's rubber bushing. If you do not to this, they will wear a lot faster since the suspension doesn't sit like that when the car is on the ground and the bushings are incorrectly loaded.

    If the ball joint fails will the wheel still collapase outwards with this setup? As it still has 3 bolts connected.

  • @AA-os1sg
    @AA-os1sg 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Question please If the ball joint fails do the 2 bolts in the hub still allow you to continue driving to get off the highway to a safe spot. Obviously there will be a bang/clunk. Iv recently seen a ball joint failure only supported by one nut on another vehicle & it become undriveable. This set up has more securing bolts is why I ask if the ball joint came apart does the wheel collapase or would there just be a noticeable tilt. Any help to understand this is appreciated. Thanks

    Re: your cabin air filter video... The "UP" arrows on the Toyota parts have nothing to do with air flow. Those arrows are simply telling us which side goes up for each part. The Toyota OEM cabin air filter also has an UP arrow which means "this side goes up". However the air flow direction is down not up. This is so simple... The old filter collects dirt on top of the filter which plainly indicates dirty incoming air enters the top of the filter and the clean air enters the blower mounted below the filter. If it was the other way around then the blower would be full of dirt and debris. I hope you get it by now but if not then remove the filter and hold a piece of tissue paper or string where the filter goes and turn on the blower. They will be sucked down not blown upward. Up means up but if it says "AIR FLOW" next to the arrow then the arrow should point down. All horizontally mounted cabin air filters with the blower motor mounted below the filter have downward air flow regardless of the make or model vehicle.
