If it’s really stiff you could try to spray WD 40 where it’s screwed in that might help Or use a screwdriver Or a cloth to help with the grip

Heyy, I’d say stitch really slowly if you need to. I can also help if you’re struggling to turn the fabric in a circle smoothly, to pause every few stitches, lift the presser foot adjust the fabric to be in the direction you need it, then lower the presser foot and repeat. Hopefully that helps, I’ll try to do a dedicated video on sewing in a circle.

I do have a video on sewing around corners atm. So do check that out to see if it helps too xx

That’s a shame :( what make is it?. If it’s a case where the needle keeps breaking, try using a Jean or denim needle instead. If you can’t use the machine you could definitely do this by hand though by using a backstitch instead of your machine. The smaller the stitches the neater the outcome x

Hii Claudia, tbh I used a regular needle and it worked out fine. The best needle recommended for silk though would be Microtex needle, or universal needle size 60

Yess, you can use a zigzag stitch instead.

Yess, you can definitely use velvet if the fabric is stretchy enough to fit over your hips without a zip. I’ve made a similar dress with velvet before and it fit perfectly
