I love woodworking and making stuff from reclaimed pallets or firewood. I combine woodturning and woodworking with epoxy resin sometimes and other woodworking projects. My name is Jim Moore. My brothers tell me that I am strange. This channel, I embrace the strange, and try to create content that is different.
I like to think of my videos as educational and hopefully entertaining. I will show my successful and failed projects, and give you a realistic experience.
I hope you stick around and subscribe to my channel. Thanks

I had a moment where I felt a little crazy and wanted to make something DIFFRENT. It is something that you will either LOVE or HATE. It was just something fun to do instead of a regular vase. I like doing off-center turnings, and this is how it goes. I really hope you all enjoy, and thank you for watching and subscribing. BUT - If you aren't subscribed - just do it, please!
Woodturning - Cherry Bowl Solder Inlay - Used Glitter Instead

I thought that I would try something different for this bowl, and I really thought it would work. I had an idea to melt solder around in an inlay for this bowl, but it didn't work. I put glitter and resin in it instead. It looks really nice. I hope you all enjoy watching, and thanks as always. Disclaimer I am not a professional woodturner or woodworker. Woodturning - Walnut and Resin Pot - Gets Launched

I had this piece of walnut that a knot came out of and left a big hole which would have made it firewood. I did another project and made too much resin, so I dumped it in the hole. Woodturning - Walnut Beaded Bowl

I really enjoy watching Richard Raffan turning videos. Recently, he did a beaded bowl, so I thought I would follow in a masters steps. I am not a master, but I think I made a great attempt. Very nice work Jim. I do not know any other way to bore that deep safely without a steady rest.
Thanks.
Love it! keep the videos going!
Thanks. I have lots of ideas.
Very nice work Jim
Many thanks.
Beautiful Jim good idea
Thank you!
Very nice work Jim
Thank you very much!
Very nice like the pattern if you could sometime could you please show us your cutting and gluing process. Thank you
I will work it into the next ones. Thanks for watching!
Very nice work Jim. You put a lot of hours in on this one. Looks like a tedious glue up.
Tedious indeed. Thank you for watching.
Very nice work Jim. I honestly don't know if I have just one favorite part. Once the piece is on the lathe, I feel like I am experiencing a little slice of Heaven. The sound of the gouge slicing through the wood. The shavings piling up everywhere. The piece changing shape. The smell of the wood. Watching the sand paper bringing the grain out. And at last watching the finish bring the piece to life. I guess my favorite part is when the piece is attached to the lathe, and I am a part of the process.
I feel like I am discovering what God has covered with bark. And enjoy everything about turning too. Thanks for sharing and watching.
I have been turning since 1978 or 9, and I still feel like I am unwrapping a present from God every time I turn a piece. It's a privilege to be able to work with such beauty.
Great job love cherry for turning
Thanks. Me too.
Well I’m undecided but you right it’s way outside the box
Thanks for watching.
Very nice work Jim. Thats an interesting piece. If you are allowed to take it, an antihistamine like Benadryl will likely help with that itchy skin from wood dust and shavings.
Yes, and I have some. Just never think of it. Thanks!
Very nice work Jim. Nice save too.
Thank you very much.
Nice work Jim, the pattern in the bowl is great, and I like how you reclaim that wood and make something beautiful out of it.
Thanks. The trailer factory throws it in a bin for the taking.
Where do you get patterned plywood?
Watch Michael Alm. He shows how to make it. He also sells it. Thanks for watching mine too. I have more coming.
Nice
Thank you for watching.
Very nice work, Jim.
Thanks a bunch!
Very nice work Jim. That was a rough turn. Did you rough up the composite board with 60 or 80 grit before you glued them together?
I think I used 120. Thanks. It was a rough one.
That was a fight Jim but it turned out well in the end. Shay
It sure was. Thank you for watching!
Hi didn't catch the type of paint you used if you could let me know it would be appreciated thanks Jamie
Thanks for watching. Exterior latex I bought for some planters. I've used acrylic with good results too but different.
Very nice work Jim. I think we might want update your name a little. How's this? Jim Made it From Junk and Launched it Across the Shop. 😂 If your not launching something across the shop you probably aren't turning enough. I am glad you didn't get hurt and the piece survived.
Can't stop laughing from your comment! I'm glad too. Thanks as always.
Very nice work Jim. Interesting project.
Thank you. Just something fun.
You could turn a piece of Black Walnut to be a solid base screwed onto the bottom of the lamp. There's always some little kid, like I was, who has to see what is under the lamp. He sees the felt, then he has to know what's under it, so he takes out his pocket knife and preforms surgery on the piece of felt. Very nice work, Jim.
That sounds like a great idea. Nice story. Thanks for watchin it!
Very nice work Jim.
Thanks for watching!
Very nice work, Jim. You mentioned possibly using a mortise on the bottom of the vase. That is pretty dangerous on an end grain piece. Because it is end grain tightening the chuck, or having a catch, or just the stress of cutting on a piece will cause the wood to split like firewood and the mortise will fail. I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm just saying it is dangerous. Keep on turnin and learnin.
Thanks as always. I tend to stay away from mortises. But I wanted to finish the bottom without using a huge jam block. Thanks for your concern!
By the way. I am not the safety police. They are the only kind of police I do not get along with.
Very nice work Jim
Thanks 😊
Chemicals from the manufacture of plywood might be detrimental to using the pot to store food.
I have the same thoughts. Thank you so much for watching!
Very nice work, Jim. I'll think of something different to say one of these days..... Maybe lol.
I enjoy your comments. Thanks for watching!
I getting old and crippled up, so I enjoy watching you TH-cam guys turn when I don't feel well enough to go to my shop and turn something. I have a 16" diameter Apple Wood fruit bowl hanging on the lathe right now waiting for me to get finished.
I understand. My sugar doesn't always let me work. I love apple.
Very nice work Jim.
Very nice work Jim.
Thank you.
Very good job on that piece. I haven't had much luck turning pine, not very forgiving. Shows how you very good skills.
Thanks. You're right it is not forgiving. Lots of sanding! Glad you liked.
Very nice work Jim.
Thank you!
Very nice work Jim.
Thanks.
Like it very much.
Thank you much!
Well done 👍🏻
Thank you much!
I was going to comment about your apparent lack of a face shield and respirator. Glad to see you using them. I have been working with big box store plywood making a bowl from a board. First one exploded as wall to thin. Have 2 more blanks to go!
I've been making these thick so they have more glue to hold together. Sorry to hear about yours exploding. I even wear it while sanding. Thanks for watching. I got more coming!
Beautiful work greetings from Maryland
Thank you. Glad you watched it.
bonjours comment allez vous enlever le tenon? belle pièce.
I didn't plan on taking it off. Thanks for watching!
Very nice but would be better with the tenon removed Brian erwin NZ
I will see on the second one I made.
I like your lathe it’s just like mine
It's a good lathe. Thanks for watching!
Nice jorb! I wanna put a basketball in that!
Very nice work Jim.
Very nice work Jim
Thanks!
Looks great Jim. Subbed.
Very pretty bowl! Just goes to show that you can always find wood to turn! I turn mostly Black Walnut because I have a lot of it but you may have inspired me to keep my eyes open for some pine to try
Hard to get a nice cut, but sands easy to get a nice finish. Good luck and thanks!
youtube will probably get you for playing the radio sooner or later
They warn me when it's a problem. Thanks for watching!
Really lovely work Jim. I like platters and often leave a section of natural (flat) edge on the piece.
I really appreciate that. Thanks
It’s hard to know when to stop. If you turn too deep you can’t get it back. If you don’t go deeper you won’t know what is inside! You did and excellent job sir.
Thank you. 😊 and very true!
Nice job Jim!
Thanks!
Tip for peeling paper off crayons: Throw them in the freezer a couple of hours and the paper slides right off. Instead of paying a small fortune for Special Kitty cat litter...get wood pellets for 40 pounds for less than $10.00. Add some essential oil drops and a wick to 6:20 and get some awesome candles!
Thanks for the Crayon tip!
@@jimmoorepa that was a super neat toy you made...thanks for that.
Jim, you have neat ideas. During the video presentation talk to us. Tell us what you're doing. We want to learn from you.
Thank you. I will work talking into the videos in the future. Enjoy!
Great job. Very well done. Shows talent & skill.
Really appreciate your comments. Thanks.
