Very fun conversation, excellent topic
Great input.
Thanks for checking it out!
Great episode! I’m a big Colin Farrell fan. One of my friends in LA had the same agent Colin Farrell had for a while and got to know him pretty well. He had nothing but great things to say about him. Killing of a Sacred Deer is easily my favorite movie in his filmography. It gets better on every rewatch.
It is wild to me how much that one is overlooked.
Truly thankful for the invite 🙏 Had an absolute blast talking about Mr. Farrell 🤘
Its as our honor to have you!
12 Episode LONG HALLOWEEN is a no-brainer. If MAX makes it Zaslov can shelve it.
That would be INCREDIBLE!
Great show, Celeste's insights are always a treat! I've only seen the 54 version and that was when I was a kid in the early 90s. I only remember one thing and that is that I thought Sidney Poitier was in it until the past year.
Hope you check out some of the others!
Looked up xenomorph on Spotify and found you guys! I’d love to have y’all as a guest sometime, yall are very well spoken and enthusiastic, refreshing Also Ridley Scott’s best film is black hawk down but yes alien is a perfect film
Send me an email! Disc Connected Media at Gmail dot com, no spaces. We'd be into it!
Fantastic episode! Gotta have a Roland Emmerich episode for sure! Day After Tomorrow was one of my favourite films throughout high school. I’ve gotta watch more Godzilla films now!! I’ve also got that amazing Godzilla book!
I think we can make Emmerich happen eventually...
Not to be too contrarian with a hot take, but I kind of love the wholesome anti-bullying message of _All Monsters Attack_ and the idea that it’s all happening in this kid’s imagination as he processes his emotions. You’re right about the “clip show” problem, though. Often the biggest thing holding back the series is how TOHO were continually trying to cheap out on the budgets.
Toho sure has messed up a lot of things throughout the years... I can't imagine what could have been if true supporters were making decisions for years...
Great convo, thanks again y’all!
You're the greatest!
@@FilmFoundations 💜💜
I love the early 70s disaster tv movies!!
They are such an incredible time capsule!
@@FilmFoundations they had great casts (a mix of classic film stars along with the stars of the day. The likes of which we will never see again).
I feel like we are seeing some of that in many of the legacy sequels, though not one exactly the same kind of way.
Thanks I love Meryl and not only is she great she is great om and really educated
She is pretty much always amazing!
Oh boy, my LEAST favorite female film character description! 😂 great show!
Oh don't worry... we go all in against this trope hahaha
“Whose favorite Pixar movie is Wall-E?” 🙋♂️ Used to be A Bug’s Life but I’ve found myself revisiting Wall-E more than any of them. I can’t say it has some profound message that speaks deeply to me. I think it’s as simple as it’s just a delightful little movie that brings me to a happy place whenever I watch it. Still listening to the episode, which I am enjoying, but I wanted to get this comment in there when you guys brought up Wall-E haha.
I was super high on Wall-E at the time. I think it is pretty profound overall, just not what sums up Pixar as a whole, imo.
@@FilmFoundations fair! Still chipping away at the episode but I love your guy’s love for A Bug’s Life! As I said, I used to consider it my favorite and is still in the top 5 for me. I feel it gets overlooked in their catalog. I also think you nailed it on Up. I’ve never been crazy about that one but agree that I think most people simply love the first ten minutes of that movie. Which makes sense since it’s great and impactful. It just seems like everyone forgets the rest of the movie is so-so compared to that opening.
@@STABxWEST It is ten good minutes and then a weird silly time. Very unlike Pixar.
This was right up my alley. I love The Thin Man and it was fun to hear Otto talk about the series. I hope he comes back. Would love to hear him talk about Cary Grant comedies, or maybe Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers musicals. So many great movies from that era.
That may be possible! So glad you enjoyed this!
I'm not a big fan of The Thin Man series but I enjoy seeing older films getting talked about. Film restoration is important but it is also important that films aren't forgotten about. Just lost to time.
That's a big deal! There is not enough praise for the classics mixed in with many of the reappraisals out there.
Enjoyed this video, it deserves more than 3 likes and 100 views.
Glad you think so! We are still new and not too worried about getting a big audience yet... but we sure would love that :)
I've really been enjoying this series, guys! So far every episode has been interesting. Keep it up!
Wait until you see the GOOD ones!
Love Jim Carey one of my favorite comedians
He's amazing!
Really enjoying this podcast, and love the idea of the four questions sort of anchoring the discussion. My only (hopefully constructive?) feedback would be: (1) future guests should probably be privy to the four questions ahead of time so they can gather their thoughts instead of having to come up with something on the spot; and (2) the wording of that third question maybe needs tightening up to emphasise you’re looking for a thing in pop culture that was impacted upon by this week’s selection (e.g., Simon Pegg and zombie movies from the previous episode), rather than picking a movie from this week’s selection that had an impact on pop culture, if that makes sense? Enjoying the discussions thoroughly, thanks again! 😊
Andrew- we really appreciate that! So glad the format matters to listeners just like it does for us. It is ABSOLUTELY constructive. We can guarantee you a couple of things- 1. The guests are aware of the questions beforehand (even if they happen to forget those questions as they prepare to record). 2. We do try to expand on each question to ensure they understand how to answer, with that third question easily being the most subjective and out there conversation starter. 3. This was our earliest recorded episode with a guest and led to some improvements. Hopefully you feel that as we post more and more :) Thank you so much for caring and for commenting! We want to hear back from everyone!
@@FilmFoundations Thanks so much for taking the time to reply so thoroughly; can’t wait for more episodes! I’ve already got a bunch of movies lined up to watch for the first time, like Subspecies, and revisit, like The World’s End. Being about ages with yourselves, I too was underwhelmed when I saw it on release but feel it’ll likely speak to me *a bunch* more now. Thanks again, and thank you to Heather specifically for introducing me to the weird world of nineties indie vampire flicks in this episode!
@@andrewcraddock That is exactly what we are going for! Some of these are going to feel fairly mainstream but other episodes are going to be EXTREMELY obscure. Glad you are along for the ride!
This was great! Heather Drain is a heck of a guest. I really need to check out Subspecies. I've heard the first three have strong gothic vibes.
Thank you so much, Hunter!
You and me both, Hunter!
Leif Jonker’s Darkness!
Ok... but this one sounds fantastic!
That has been on my need to see list for years!!! Thank you.
Enjoyed the first episode!
So glad you enjoyed it, Paul!
Very interesting conversation, and really resonated with me as someone who loved Edgar Wright growing up, and influenced myself and my friends at university. specifically the editing style in his films was something we paid homage to. Only one I haven’t seen (apart from the doco) is Scott Pilgrim , need to watch it now.
Whoa! You must! I think you will love it.
The theology of Takashi Miike, the word of Wynorksi, the Corman converted, the Baptism of Borowczyk… looking forward to these!
I never expected you to sign up for so many episodes but now I can’t wait either!
Sounds like the makings of an interesting channel. 👍🏻
Hope you enjoy it!
Looking forward to the first episode.
Two weeks! Excited for you to hear it!
I’m in! Let me know how I can help.
Oh you know we will have you on an episode at some point soon :) But of course, share away, please!
Yay!
Hope you love it!
