Michael ‘Mike’ Skill. #fivenightsatfreddys #fnaf
The guitar was worn and poorly repainted. A gift from a friend, the instrument was his beater guitar. It would be found resting against any piece of furniture in the house. “Lyle” read the headstock, his hands strummed a blues riff against the sunburst body.
Mike Skill picked up a guitar for the first time at age 13. His over 50 years of experience with the instrument has become second-nature. The Lyle was surely no stranger to him, just like any guitar. Like his first guitar, it played rough and raw. Nothing special, really.
Skill’s interest in music germinated in his parent’s car while he listened to the hits of the 50’s on the radio. To and from the skating rink, the music would play.

Drove by his house in Boise back in the late 60's during the 4th of July. Big white pillars in front. ✌
Mike Skill! With James Wailin on harp, Greasy Carlisi on bass, and Johnny “Bee” Badanjek on the tubs.
😊
Love it!
Curious as to why they "flipped" the words in the verses....any thoughts?
I miss the little dance the guitar and bass player did on this song.
This drum solo piece actually comes off of Outside/Inside.
Where is Mark?
Terrible
I was there!
Sound check sounds good.
East side legend. Thanks for posting this.
I would love to see them with Mark as well.
I'd like to see them reunite with Mark Lindsey
I’ve always loved the way Phil and Jim danced in unison when they played ❤️
Great jam
Terry Milcher the Raiders Manager was Diris Days son.
kool
I just saw George Thorogood open for John Fogerty, and at the end of Thorogood's set, he flipped his guitar over to reveal "Fang" on the reverse side...a pretty cool tribute, I'd say.
Awesome post Mike! Great to see these two members Harpo & Phil on the mark as Paul Revere & The Raiders!

It's approaching the two year anniversary of my husband Robert Gillespie's death. He left this earth on June 17 2022. He was full of life and every day was exciting being with him. I miss him so much it feels like he's been gone for 100 years not two. Mike said the most profound thing to me the last time I saw him. He and Robert had been friends since Jr highschool so it meant the world to me. He said " Robert was like a shooting star." Thank you Mike, you were right.
Talk about a responsible, hardworking, wonderful person... that's Phil Volk
I met Jim in Walla Walla when he was with the Viceroys. We were a jr HS rock band The Satellites. They came to listen to us when they were heading back to Seattle after their gig at the recommendation of Al Lentz the booking agent. Good guys. They gave us encouragement to keep at it. Jim, I'm still playing at 73 years old. Fond memories.
Just saw the Post Modern Jukebox version, and your comment. While they had a good and fun arrangement, I immensely prefer your rendition. I was an '80s teen, and this was one of my all-time favorite songs. I doubt anyone could listen to this and not want to dance their rears off!
Fang , You did a great job but you need to go find your brother , Mark.
Guys out there doing what they love after so many years and that they are able to , good for them!
Not the same without Mark Lindsay
I was wondering what you were going to do for the harmonica bridge . . . Nice solution -- better than the harmonica.
I miss Jimmy.
Phil Volk left the Raiders in 1967, and has spent the rest of his life playing up the fact that he was a Raider for 2 years. Should have stayed with the group, but he and Drake and Smitty thought they were gonna be stars with their own band. Harpo at least had a successful career doing children's music.
Mr. Skill is obviously extremely talented . . . but I still prefer Rich Cole's bass line recorded in the original studio version. That said, I've never fallen out of love with What I Like About You.
I saw him and the handcuffs play last year in skokie and he quickly became my drumming idol. great chops, great showmanship!
I could have added a drumbeat 😊😊
That shows talent that they can sound like this after all these years. Speed was excellent and instruments were all in tune. Voices were … well, pretty damn good, no matter what their age. A real treat, thanks.
PR & The Raiders was definitely one of my favorite bands. I had started with the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
Genius.
Not the same without Mark but still well done!
I saw the Romantics opening for the Ramones. Incredible show.
This is great!!!!
Very badass!!!!
I kept waiting for him to turn around his guitar to show the name FANG on the back of it. 🎸
Great song, nicely done.
Awesome band !!! Great memories
One of the all time best guitar riffs!
