No one there to debate! And the debate should focus on what policy makers can and can’t do. So should focus on the mathematics of the STATE pension. And not treat it’s functioning as some kind of read across to private or occupational pension provision. Which operate in quite a different way and always have done. It’s a stark reality unfortunately the former is a contributory benefit the latter a “pot” that one pays into. The start of that debate (to which no one was there to listen) injected emotion into it. Emotion won’t make the state pension sustainable if life expectancy continues to rise.

They keep saying people are living longer but in my local paper in the death notices most nights you see people who were aged below 70 and sometimes below 60 but then the government saves a few more pensions kerching. If they ploughed some money into combating cancer and other medical killers instead of hs2 and extra runways at Heathrow and foreign aid then this country might just be a bit healthier.

So if it's the tax-dodgers that are buying-up the land and subsequently increasing land value as you say, then what's the issue with implementing this inheritance tax? It's still a lower rate than what the rest of us pay on assets over £500k, and married farmers still get at least £3m as the threshold before they even pay a penny. I do also understand the issue of farmers not earning enough, so something definitely needs to be done about the price gouging by supermarkets so that farmers can actually sustain a living. Whilst this solution is not palatable to some small farms who will inevitably be in the borderline area of the new threshold, at least it's closing-down this loophole that's being used by the wealthiest in society, which should hopefully bring down the this artificially inflated value of the land for the future. Essentially, the main culprits of the farmer's woes are the super rich who have created this issue of high land value, coupled with the super rich who own these supermarket chains to price gouge farmers, AND the super rich who convinced the UK and its farmers that Brexit was somehow a good idea.

If you're on universal credit then you don't have a viable business. You need to get a different job or business. Luckily for you, you're in the fortunate position of having millions of pounds in assets, so you can sell some or all of those and have a good life. Many people don't have that luxury.
