Sometimes, extreme speculation coupled with hard evidence gives us a glimpse into possibility... Who built the Forge of the Giants? What for? Who broke it or how did it break? Elden Ring's "Shadow of the Erdtree" DLC finally reveals the truth about the Forge of the Giants, the birth of the Ancient Dragons, and the fall of Placidusax with the introduction of Bayle the Dread! Why are there different statues of Marika? What is the Scadutree? Who was abandoned? Why has the Land of Shadow been put under a veil? Why is the Scadutree twisted, with sap bleeding from the knot? Who built Enir-Ilim? These are all questions that I am answering in today's video, breaking down character intentions, the Greater Will, the Outer Gods, Messmer, Marika, the Serpent Lord, the Hornsen...
I beat Elden Ring WITHOUT GETTING HIT
มุมมอง 5624 หลายเดือนก่อน
After a bit of practice, I finally succeeded in beating all of Elden Ring without getting hit a single time. The run was Any% Hitless, meaning that if I got hit, I had to restart the entire game from the beginning. Any% means only what is needed to beat the game. This means bosses in the DLC dont count, and a lot of bosses are just passed, because again - they arent needed for the run. Thanks f...

All butchers have soft hands from handling meat.Just so you all know why it is mentioned. But you get soft hands from doing so,you should not need soft hands for a requirement. You get them from handling meat.
The smooth hands are from Diallos not being a fighter like the rest of his family; it's a kindness mechanism. The kindness of gold, one might say. =)
If empyreans are made by jars or are they born we are not told. But if radagon was put in the jar it was him making those questionable decisions we do not understand. He was scared and wanted to be a god,but stuck with Marika who Obviously hates him.The hornsent created their own monster.Looks as if the Nox were doing similar things with mimics. That is the very reason the greater will punished them both.As well as the godskins skinning people and wearing their skin, pretty psychotic and unstable. The greater will sent the elden ring and she must have known by the fingers when it would come. She pulled something out of something living.
I'm starting to think this is a bad story
🙌
I think the scadutree and the Erdtree were both one half of the Great Tree. Life and Death spiraling upward, fostering evolution. Marika separated the two, straightening out the red tree and breaking the scadutree
Normalized could also be there math term (normalize) in vector math
Messmer's cutscene gave me goosebumps all over my body the first time I played the dlc lol. Now looking at the magic behind it again solidified Messmer as my favorite Fromsoft boss overall (the other two in my top 3 are Artorias and Dancer of the Boreal Valley). Thank you for the video!
I choose to believe that jarberg hasn't had any visitors and the jars are stamped with the erdtree symbol is because Marika saved jars from the land of shadow as they were the only remains of her people and she placed a potentate in charge to care for the jars. I believe that's why the practice of creating new jars has changed as well as the meaning.

Im sorry, but if you are going to compare Elden ring to norse mythology, the lands between is not Aasgaard, its gunningugap. Gunningugap literary means the land between.
3:30 I don't get it. How is Bayle "born" out of the first Dragon Communion done by a Titan eating a dragon/drake heart? Is Dragon Communion some kind of breeding act? Then why the need to eat a heart?
Spirals..... Uzumaki? Maybe because spirals have a lore to the Japanese ideas.
Really interesting video and finds. Regarding the Greattree: I seem to remember reading somewhere that the "Great Tree" was a misleading translation and that it doesn't exist in the Japanese script, so it's simply the Erdtree by a different name?
Best characters is ER: 1. Ranni; 2. Marika; 3. St. Trina; 4. Melina; 5. Messmer; 6. Morgott; 7. Godwyn; 8. Leda.
Hot take: the gateway has been used as a sand cast. If you look at the top of the gate you can see reliefs of people, but they are negative. On the other side, there are some people sticking out that look like they are made of a silvery metal. When sand casting like this you usually have to remove excess pieces that form in the vents and creases. The metal people are pieces of this cast that broke off. This process is why sand was necessary. The sacrifices were arranged in the desired shape and buried in sand, and then when the liquid poured in it burned the people inside and left a negative space, like in pompeii, and metal filled everything. If you look up "ant hill cast" you will find examples that look strikingly similar. But what object was crafted to this process, with what, and when all of this traspired I am not sure. My best guess is that the individual pieces of the tower were made at the gateway, probably with plaster (and/or cement) instead of metal, and maybe the people seen clinging at the tower are the pieces coming undone. Maybe every time they used this cast the tower grew upwards, like a plant. Also what do you call the thing metal is melted in used to pour the substance into the cast? That's right, a crucible. I think the godskin thing in the trailer is a womb with a baby's head sticking out. The gloam eyed queen is said to have swaddled the godskin apostles. Marika was likely either this baby's wetnurse or the mother's midwife, but she stole the newborn's thin gold hairs instead (note that there is a motif of gold threads and sewing). Interpret that however you like. Edit: on second thought, the back of the gate of divinity is glossy. It think it's made of slag. There's also layers to the gate, with one older layer visible at the base of the gate that looks like a sculpted relief as it features clothes which later people do not. The gate never had one, single purpose, it's purpose and meaning has changed through history many times. Still, so many mysteries.
Prof, making my work day more tolerable one video at a time

love when prof said I'm gonna demon souls!!! and he demon'd all over those souls. o7
tbh best part
This brings a huge spotlight on Radagon, whos presumed to have some relation to the Giants. The spelling of 'Radagon' can be rearranged to spell "A Dragon"
This is excellent work. Well done!
you have no idea how long i was searching for messmer free cam cutscenes!! you know for lore reasons. ty!!
enjoy!!! i thought it was really cool :)
This video is a lot more chaotic that your previous videos, which you at least warn us with the "extreme speculation" in the title. While I think you made some interesting connections with the forge's original design and signs of volcanic burst, I think this video is wholly guilty of drinking it's own kool-aid. I hope every video doesn't use archaeological-grafting as the foundation to distinguish different ages within architecture.
Very impressive, this melds umm perfectly with another theory i have stumbled across... Marika is using her numan powers not only to meld with people of the erdtree burials (possibly involuntarily due to the late date at witch she removes the rune of death) but she is divesting herself of her personality when she has her "children", at the end she becomes an empty vessel used by radagon and the elden ring to ape the very practice that drove her to her darkest moments, as the theory goes ranni receives marikas hope for a new world... Ect ect, but i do think elden ring is ALL ABOUT LINEAGE, and marikas children... her lineage are odd 2 cursed, one perfect how very very odd indeed
Could Anastaisa (tarnished-eater) with her potentate style butcher's blade be a potentate? You do encounter her the second time outside the Corpse-Stensh shack (echoing the whipping shack?). (she wears finger maiden robes over nudity? gone mad?) also wonder if the Hoslow's (Diallos and Juno) might be descended from potentates, because they seem involved with the Pots. and they wield whips with "petals" along them to cause bleeding. hrm.
I think the original dynasty might be related to pledusai (spelling?). Farum Azula is also in the sky, in a similar manner to where gate ends up. The game speaks of his lord leaving. He might have been the original with scadutree. Marika veils the Land of Shadows and forsakes the original tree. The dragons then attack the capital in retaliation. Its a thought.
A theory of mine that explain the marika/radagon situation And the "seduction and betreyal" in the trailer for thw DLC The hornsent put shamans in jars becuse their flesh mend harmoniously with others so they can be saints Maybe they mended marika and radagon and they became their saint And marika/radagon later betrey the hornsent with messmer And the seduction part can be the case of marika/radagon having childrens somehow And becuse they became a god it was a sin and thats why their children were cursed
I think it's plausible that Marika can sense what Messmer is saying in some form through his scarseal eye, as that's a connection to her that very few, to our knowledge, have.
For me messmer and byle are the best dlc boss i love them ❤❤

4:10 "He's not sitting around waiting for us to get here" I don't know the wooden way he says MONGREL INTRUDER combined with his surprise at us being Tarnished leads me to believe he just sits around expecting hornsent to break in. Also do we find his bedroom in Shadow Keep or do we just assume he sleeps on his throne?
I'm skeptical but I'm not against it! I'll have something to say about it in my Messmer Lore vid coming up. Let's argue about it more there!
Logic says he has a bedchamder, of course. From just didn't show us.

Marika did nothing wrong 😇🥰
The gate of divinity reminds me of off feets.
I hate to go all psychology and everything but trauma and how our brains respond to trauma is a big thing in this story. That seeing something horrible as a thing to be worshipped seems to have happened to Hornsent, the blood fiends, even Marika's deal. That bottling it all up and the subsequent projection is how it all goes fuck up. The lesson is never learned because the pain and hate towards the prior society is so strong. Wound everything It's really heartbreaking
Suuuuuper
6:20 Huge catch
I think it's very likely that the Shaman's flesh being "special" when it comes to how it breaks down and merges together is just a part of the Hornsent's propaganda. It's possible that all flesh can blend together regardless of who it is.
I think in regard to the 2 loose chains and the burnt 4th spot for a chain, they were attached to farum azula, lands of shadow, and one for the lands between. (Not quite sure where the 4th would go though)
This just occurred to me after taking a closer look at the engraving on the Outer God Heirloom talisman. At first I assumed that it was depicting the Formless Mother because of where you find it. It actually looks very much like Marika at the beginning of the DLC story trailer reaching into the non-descript flesh pile and pulling out the golden threads before ascending to godhood. The gate is even depicted behind her, although it’s not a 1:1 match it makes sense if it’s just a depiction. There’s also 3 bodies seen prostrating in front of her, which could represent the hornsent corpses just before they died during her ascension. It’s curious that the talisman doesn’t allude to the formless mother or any other outer god in particular, and I don’t see any other way to interpret the engraving we see. The description we do have could still work if it was depicting Marika, and has interesting implications if true. I also found it strange that there was a talisman for raising every damage stat except arcane in the base game. At first it just seemed like a simple oversight, but if my theory is correct it makes total sense that From would save it for the DLC if it had a dual purpose for also giving important hints about the penultimate event of the DLC story - which is of course Marika’s mysterious ascension to godhood at the gate of divinity. As for how the arcane stat relates to this event, that requires a bit of inference. Based on what little we know about arcane it seems to be a sort of catch-all for types of magic/knowledge that doesn’t fall into the categories of sorcery or incantations. It is closely associated with the formless mother (and st. trina loosely), but I think that’s an intentional red herring along with the location of where the talisman is found. My best guess is that arcane relates to the outer gods in general. Sorcery is purely glintstone/primeval current based, and incantations seem to only be associated with Marika, the crucible, and/or Elden Ring itself. This includes dragon incantations as well which are faith-arcane based. We can safely assume these are also associated with the Elden Ring because of the relief depicted in maliketh’s arena/farum azula, although the arcane connection there is also noteworthy. The only dragon incantations that do not require arcane is Placidusax’s Ruin and the ancient dragon cult incants, which also are traced back to Placidusax. This makes sense because we know he was an Elden Lord and thus is connected to the Elden Ring/Greater Will. All the incantations associated with Bayle and dragon communion are faith arcane based. Makes me wonder if Bayle was in contact with his own outer god, and perhaps that was the impetus for his attempt to overthrow placidusax on his god’s behalf to challenge the Greater Will. Now back to how this relates to Marika: one must ask how it was that Marika called upon the Greater Will/Elden Beast in the first place. If they’re the source of her faith based power, there must have been some other power used. For lack of a better term, we could call it ‘arcane knowledge’, which would be a fitting callback to the lore of bloodborne and the Great Ones who are basically also outer gods for all intents and purposes. If this is true, it would make sense that a talisman depicting a pre-godhood Marika would give a significant boost to arcane. That would imply that the shaman culture of Marika’s origin worked primarily a unique type of arcane magic. This would help to explain the hornsent’s fixation on using the shamans for creating living jar saints. They may have been worshipping a heretical outer god that didn’t fit into the hornsent’s crucible based religion. Despite this, the hornsent may have also seen some value in the shamans and their ability to meld their flesh with others. Because marika is an empyrean, it’s possible that she was the hornsent’s only successful attempt at creating a ‘saint’. Maybe after this happened they decided for their own ends that she was fit to stand before the gate of divinity. If this is true, maybe this is the betrayal mentioned in the story trailer. The hornsent bowed down worshipping their divine creation expecting one thing, only for Marika to call upon an outer god (the Greater Will) and sacrifice the worshippers in the process to ascend to godhood. I’m not 100% sure about all of this but there’s no question that some connections exist.
I don't think the golden trails taken from the serpent are the future Elden Ring, remember that placidusax was Elden Lord before the rise of Marika
