Cascade Plaza - 1960

Throwback to 1960’s to the Cascade Plaza redevelopment in downtown Akron, Ohio and the former headquarters for The Ruhlin Company. The all-electric building rests on top of a 2,500 car parking deck also constructed by Ruhlin. The band Devo was also featured in front of the Cascade Building in a photo that now hangs in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Throwback to 1915 when Ruhlin built its first school in Creston, Ohio. Creston School functioned as a 1st through 12th grade school until 1953, later serving as the middle school. In 2012, Ruhlin demolished the building and constructed the New Norwayne Elementary School and performed renovations on the Middle/High School for the district.

Throwback to 1973 when Ruhlin constructed The Ohio State University Parking Garage. This five level above-ground, 670 car parking deck is adjacent from The Ohio State Buckeyes Football Stadium and is still used today.

IR 76 East Expressway 1995

Did you know The Ruhlin Company constructed various Firestone Tire & Rubber Company buildings back as far as 1957. The photos feature Firestone buildings located in Akron, Ohio. Since then, the Firestone logo has become an icon we know today.

Enjoy watching our team set the west pier cap concrete form on Interstate 271/I90. The top of the column that the cap sits on is 30 ft high. Approximately 100 yards of concrete went in the form during the pour.

Throwback to 1980 when Ruhlin was selected as the Construction Manager for the renovation/addition project for Westfield Insurance Company in Westfield Center, Ohio. This project included 91,094 SF of new construction, 18,441 SF of renovations and 35,263 SF of alterations to the companies home office. Westfield Insurance Company is the largest employer in Medina County.

John S Knight Center-1994

Throwback to 1994 when Ruhlin built the John S. Knight Center in Akron, Ohio. The 123,300 SF convention center houses a gallery, banquet rooms, ballroom space, and meeting rooms. The glass rotunda is a unique focal point of the center.
