Another costly sound delay
I worked with him on a movie called Joe. He was great and I learned a lot.
The lack of a direct feed makes this information far less valuable. Lots of good points to consider, but no camera feed means speculation on what is being said. Pass…
I woke up this morning and my computer was playing this video while shut and i wasnt watching youtube or even using my computer before bed lmfaoo.
lowkey fucked up my feed
Does anyone have the list of filters he tested?
Ompa Lumpa
Every cinematography presentation i've watched has had sound/microphone issues. It's almost like a running joke at this point.
Its the camera department not the sound department 😅
This is must underrated video ever. Really helpful 👌 👏 👍 ☺ 🙂
Song is great. Ompa all the way.
Most interesting master class ruined by every single camera angle and a missing feed from the camera.
What's the name of the camera?
This is a poor and amateurish attempt at demonstrating a professional process. It is self defeating and technically contradictory. Dozed off at about the 20 minute mark from boredom.
Tim "Uhh" Orr.
Very amateur video. He has experience in filmaking for hollywood, but the video has no guide nor good oratory. Too messy to confusing and i couldnt stand more than 10 minutes of the video. I ff but i just google another class. Even a relax interview with roger deakings is more usefull. Sorry for him but the people behind this should put a little more efford in producing this kind of content. Sorry Thumbs down.
I completely agree that a direct feed from the camera would really allow us to see what Tim was trying to educate us about. It is really frustrating to watch this video as Tim is giving useful info here.
Totally agree.
kind of ironic that these master classes on film and video are really poorly shot
I appreciate that this is free, but the lack of direct video feed makes this a waste of time.
太长 没重点 没用 可不看
There was no reason to post this video. It serves absolutely no purpose. No one can learn anything from watching a DP walking around a set as he talks about lighting, lenses, and filters,. We need to see what he is talking about. Even having a camera pointed at a monitor would be better than this. I'm always amazed by how these so-called "Master Class" videos are recorded in the most amateur ways.
Some people just don’t have teaching skills
What is the point of a filter demonstration if you can't see what he's talking about? Would it have been so hard to record on the Alexa and then use that footage in this video?
AMAZINGG! I live right behind this place 👽
This Video is 1stop underexposed. Am I correct?😂
Definitely
It loses a lot by not having a direct feed.
too many mistakes done for a teaching video ( camera shakes- focuses- voice- microphone....) is it really master class ?
Thank you very much for uploading this for free for the world to watch. Cheers from Argentina.
Good video, but the *AAAHHHH, AMMMMM* in every line just got me dizzy
“you know” as well drove me crazy
Yes..is a skill to talk. One of the first lessons in school was to not use these noises to fill the gaps. Is better to pause. I need to skip the video. My mind can't handle it.
EXTREMELY useful, even without seeing the monitor. very grateful for this being here. just one thing... "et cetera and so forth"? "et cetera, et cetera" or "so and so and so forth". small & pedantic gripe, and hardly against the law!
kwd
I’m disappointed that there was no direct feed of the monitor. All of this talk about lighting and lenses and we can’t actually see what the cinema camera was seeing. The web camera filming this masterclass had to be pointed at a monitor obscured by glare and the backs of audience members heads.
That's very true.
You get what you pay for
@@Profile.4 yeah but that's just stupid, why make it available then in the first place
@@miatatude5362 because they felt like it
lol when he realizes how inaccurate the SMALLHD monitor is 🤣
Next class: grading videos before uploading to youtube. ;)
rec 709 is our friend, don't fear it lol
Love this video; his experience and his perspective is so helpful, even for me.
I would have preferred to see the camera view and the lit stand in instead of this... man. I am going to watch his movie AXL that he shot at the time and see if it measueres up to Alfred Hitchcocks classics.
nice
i really liked watching this video footage. keep going ✌
Yeah! 🤖🤖 xx !
Nice one!
Great spotlight guys! Gary Rules! Thanks for all you do
Great piece!
Oregon film legends!
These two are truly the best in the biz! I don't think I know anyone in Portland who hasn't worked with Coach and Sarge.
Love it!
Thanks Chris!
Alicia, what a wonderful job you did with this video! AND you are telling my story! From my love of music, gravitating to film, you have captured my history and my philosophy about collaboration. I was JUST writing about OMPA in 1982, and why we all helped create it, it was for the exact same reasons you mentioned, which just blows my mind!
Thanks Katherine! We couldn't agree more. Alicia is a valuable member to our organization, in addition to being a fearless, all-star awesome asset industry-wide. We are so grateful to her for sharing her voice, story and work.
Thanks Katherine! Glad you found it inspiring! xoxo
