    Just realized the autocross clip is at Delta SCCA in NOLA. I've only done two Autocross events and both have been there! Small world lol. How do you like the V601s for dual duty autocross/street use compared to the stock primacies? Obviously they're suboptimal relative to a dedicated 200tw autocross tire, but is there a noticeable improvement around the cones vs the primacies? Thanks.

    • @Lucas86.
      @Lucas86. 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is for sure a grip difference compared to the stocks. They have a pretty good grip threshold, but you need to get them warmed up properly. In an autocross environment, I find it taking a while for them to get up to temp. Overall solid dual duty tire if you're willing to put up with the road noise.

    Im strongly considering getting a 2015 model with only 66k km on the clock but I get mixed reviews about reliability of the engine... a lot of people complain about them blowing up... but also a lot of people claim they are very reliable... who do I believe🤣🤷‍♂️... I am aware of the valve spring recall, maybe all the complaints are about that? As far as I know this was only an issue with some 2012-2013 models...

    • @Lucas86.
      @Lucas86. ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct with the valve spring issue being just on the first year model. It really boils down to to how the previous owner treated the car. If he didn't beat on Everytime he drove it and did regular maintenance, the engine will be just fine. The engine won't be in harm of blowing up unless you start throwing forced induction with stock internals. Then it gets dicey.

    My brother took his brz on a road trip from NY all the way to Texas. He said the same thing, sure the seats can make you feel like you’re not going to slip. But on a road trip you’re going mostly straight for many hours rather and you’re not going to be taking corners at much or at all. Since they have you sitting all tucked in, there’s barely any where to wiggle around because of the side bolsters not allowing you. Did the car over heat on that trip? Nope and it was hours of nonstop driving. If it can stand a long drive like that mostly at 70mph, you know it’s a good engine.

    Good vid, but I'll have to correct something he said about this car not being a 'good commuter car'. Actually it is a good, fun commuter car IF your commutes are road trips of 2 hours or less. I have a 2016 BRZ LImited in a manual, and he's right on the other part, though. Anything more than 2 hours will really exhaust you because of it's somewhat firm suspension. It's manageable....but had it been slightly stiffer, it wouldn't be drivable in the real world. So again, any commute or road trip of less than 2 hours will do fine. Any longer road trips, you might be better off with a WRX, or something like an Acura TLX. Or just do what I do. Rent a car for your long trips! :-)

    Thanks for this. I have hated the BRZ for a long time. But recently, I discovered an appreciation for it, for it's exterior style, it's handling, and it's price. It's a "poor man's sports car", and I am not exactly poor, but I am looking at a second vehicle. And with the new engine in the 2022 model correcting the torque dip issues, the BRZ looks like an ideal second car, one that can be used as a primary if things go wrong. Hearing honest reviews from owners like you is very helpful in deciding if one is right for me. I don't plan on too many mods, as I need reliability and functionality from my vehicles, even if they are just to sooth my ego in my midlife crisis. Wish I knew how tall you were, as my wife is very tall, and some cars are too cramped for her to enjoy riding in. She's 6'1'', with long legs. I got her into a WRX and it was almost painful for her, yet the Honda Civic was good... as long as we didn't hit bumps.
