The channel is a place to present videos of my passion for high performance driving and BMW Club Racing.
My first on track experience was with my 2016 BMW M235i.
After coming to my senses, I bought a 1990 BMW 325is track car and improved it's safety equipment and suspension.
I'm currently racing a 1996 BMW 328is that was built from a street car donor by Tice Motorsports Group in Greensboro, NC for me and to my specifications to race in the Spec e36 class of BMW Club Racing.

BMW Club Racing VIR Sunday Sprint
We had an 8am qualifying and 9:15 race, I decided to not qualify. I expected to start last in the Spec E36 group. I was surprised to find a mixed field of SE36 and SE46. That meant I had the slowest SE46 cars between me and my competition. Oh well.
There was a fast SE46 starting one spot behind me who lacks consideration for the personal space of others. I knew it was going to be an interesting start.

There was a lengthy full course yellow. We managed to get a few more laps after it ended. Thankfully, the driver involved is fine. The gaps and accordion action under FCY was inexcusable. Qualifying was before my work hours, so I gridded at the back. There was a full course yellow on lap 8 that effectively ended the race.

Started 4th of 7. A bit of a twist up on the first lap put me last then 6th. I spent most of the race trying to run qualifying laps and see what happens. I managed to catch two slow SE46 between me and P5. I got by one in T11 and the other in T12 on the same lap. P5 was in sight. I pushed too hard on the last lap and took too much kerb in T12. Looped it into the grass. Finished 6 in class.

Interesting racing early with my friends John and Carl in a 60 minute race. Everyone had a mandatory 5 minute stop. I was penalized a lap two years ago here for a badly timed stop via Timex. The video stops during a full course yellow just before the clearly audible swearing at a competitor who clearly did not understand or care about the rules and his impact on the cars behind him. I gained two positions when direct competitors went off track. I lost one of them back when an oblivious out of class competitor blocked me in traffic for no apparent reason.

This was one of the most bizarre A Group sessions I have ever run at a high performance driving school. There were more Porsche 911's than you could count. Lots of bright colors and dim drivers. Fall high performance driving school A Group. The best lap I could manage for the weekend on old tires headed to the bin. A couple seconds off my best with fresh tires and better temperatures. A beautiful weekend with friends.

BMW Spec E36 at the BMW Tarheel Chapter June HPDS. Instructor and A group on Saturday. Not my best laps, but a lot of traffic and faster cars to manage. A lot of fun with very skilled drivers. Please ignore the track map in the upper left. Either I didn't change the map, or the Aim software is so complicated that it defies understanding.

Spec E36 The flagging over the weekend was suspect. It's a difficult job, but standing blue flags all weekend were not informative. A debris flag and white flag don't convey the risk of an emergency vehicle and people on the track. It requires a yellow flag at minimum. Thanks. I would like to see that. The front calipers and ABS were just overhauled and I'm trying to adjust to the brakes. The car was built a year ago and I just don't have enough experience with it to know if something isn't quite right. One caliper was binding and the ABS was not working at all. When you get used to driving cars without ABS, you don't really miss it.
