Cinemax was the ratings monster, not HBO. Cinemax always has had original movies/original shows, and most important the hit movie releases let's not forget, the purpose of Cinemax from the get. And Jerry Seinfeld got his start on Cinemax for sure on their specials. Larry David might have been on HBO, but Seinfeld was on Cinemax, and Cinemax is responsible for setting the seeds of "Seinfeld." And influenced UPN as a network. PTEN was like Cinemax. Superior graphics, Feature Presentation bumpers, marketing, star power. HBO only started getting good when they had their FP bumper remake of the 1983 one, in ALMOST 2000. Cinemax was the ratings stomper in the 1990s, including 1999 when shitty "Sopranos" was on HBO. Cinemax hated HBO for good reason. They're nothing like their "parent." Cinemax is far more the prestige network.

So much better than HBO's feature presentation in my opinion of that time. The ratings bumper V/O of 1994 - 2006 ruined everything about HBO but to be fair them being anti-"Seinfeld" was naturally part of that bullshit too. And to be honest their company bumper ("next," "tonight") V/O of that same era sounded like a shitstain. HBO is just a bullshit springoff of the Stirling Company of Ohio which birthed it. Cinemax is so far removed from its parent company it might as well be a different company.

Maybe you can also try to find some Movieplex promo breaks, in the early days of them showing their ID’s and bumpers in 16:9 format. According to a friend of mine, around May/June 2014, that was when the format switchover occurred. P.S. And try to find the Tonight schedule of Movieplex, from the old days, too. Thanks.
