To properly hardwire it, the wire would have to go from the Door🚪 bell to the transformer your correct, this is to charge the doorbell continuously without a need to recharge or a battery🔋 you can also get one that uses battery and or rechargeable verision this will avoid all the wiring.

How often do you put in fresh carbon?

@elizabethmorris3872 I haven’t replaced mine yet still going strong. I cook with a lot of olive oil what I like about this design you can even leave your hood vent on in the carbon filter, actually gets rid of many other odors, including smoke
