    Amazing guitar mate gotta question tho. Do you find the P90s are noisy? Do you hear much hiss, compared to a humbucker?

    • @dougiearcher
      @dougiearcher 3 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for watching! :) In comparison to a humbucker there is definitely more hiss/60 cycle hum. In a live/band situation I have been predominantly a strat player for several years now so I don’t think I’ve noticed anymore hiss than I would with other single coils though.

    What the most difference between Gibson Les Paul Studio and Gibson Les Paul LPJ 2013/2014?

    • @dougiearcher
      @dougiearcher 21 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      So, I’ve never gotten my hands on the LPJ, my understanding of the LPJ is that it was bridging the gap between epiphone Les Pauls and Gibson. A friendlier model for those on a budget. The finishes were satin I think, rather than gloss/nitro. The neck was maple with a rosewood fingerboard rather than mahogany… this made the guitar a little lighter, but also gave the LPJ a bit of a snappier tone. From the models I’m aware of, there weren’t any with binding. The pickups were still the 490r and 498t as is with the studio, although 2013 they looked like EMGs and then in 2014 they moved to a zebra style pickup, they were always 498 and 490. The hardware as well, in 2013 it was black, in 2014 they moved back to nickel/chrome. Tuners seemed the same as the studio. :) I hope this helps a little! :)

    Just finished some time with the Kraken mkii and found it ‘almost’ identical to the EVH Stealth and couldn’t justify dumping one at a loss and paying ALOT for the other. Just ordered The Jack mkii and looking forward to playing it. I’m looking for something with some “bloom” rather than a chainsaw type gain tone. Nice demo!

    • @dougiearcher
      @dougiearcher 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I get that about the MK2 and I agree in terms of making a loss on one, just to get the same amp with a couple of tweaks. Interesting to know it’s close to the Stealth though! Fingers crossed The Jack gets the tones you’re looking for! If you remember, pop back and lemme know! Thank you for watching!

    Nothing beats a tube head and 2x12-4x12. So that's what I use. I use a me 90 in the effect loop to give me boost, reverb, and delay with a press of a button. But a switcher and real pedals would work the same. If the gig demanded a silent stage. Then the me 90 will get the job done. But I will not be happy with my sound or performance. But i play heavy rock/ metal. If i were a background instrument for a large band/ non guitar central band. Then i might be swayed to downsize.

    • @dougiearcher
      @dougiearcher 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I do agree, utterly and completely. That’s a great way of doing it, those ME units are great! I’ve never played a silent stage gig either although I guess I’d take just a head and the captor-X and see what happens. 😂😅

    I can't relate. I am running a Studio Jubilee head into 2 1x12 stacked cabs without spikey Vintage 30s and changed the power tubes to 6l6. It isn't either the amp or the pedal for me. I am an old school metal player getting into more modern, progressive metal. So I need both. I am running a Boss OD-1x digital overdrive as my boost with a SD Black winter in my bridge. These 3 things went a long way to bring the Marshall into the zip code of modern high gain while still getting that nice Jubilee tone.

    • @Beatyzass
      @Beatyzass 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Agreed! I have the studio and it’s really picky! Couldn’t find a matching cab so I tried it with an Orange 212 and a bunch of others until I settled on a mesa 212. Still love my jubilee but didn’t even know I could put 6L6s!

    • @devinitjen266
      @devinitjen266 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Beatyzass The 2525H Studii Jubilee easily accepts power tubes other than EL34s. No bias adjustment required either. I am currently running mine into 2 stacked PRS Stealth 1x12 cabs (alot of internal volume for bass response) equipped with 20 year old Celestion G12H-100s. The Boogie Cab probably does very well as the Celestion CL90 Mesa uses are voiced similar to my speakers and Mesa cabs have a good deal of internal volume.

    I have one. Love it! I see the next generation trying to go smaller, lighter, quieter. Soon you will just not need music at all. I'm 56 and still by the life of, I like it loud! I have a modeler, I use it, with my Marshall and cabinet. You see I went through the 60's, 70's, 80's crap of digital will replace analog. Guess what? IT NEVER HAPPENED! All it really did was give us more options to make better sounding music combined with the older stuff. We're seeing the same old sh!t repeat I seen people saying 40 years ago.

    There’s definitely room in the world for all. I don’t think there’s gonna be a pedal that 100% clones a Marshall, in terms of that warm and woolly gain, but, the pedals allow you to almost have a Marshall on steroids with the extra gain on tap and then punching that into a clean, high headroom amp will give you plenty of gorgeous plexi tones to play with. I love the Cornstar for that reason. Dial in a glassy clean and then obliterate with saturated goodness you get from a Marshall. But Marshall amps have that low end that’s hard to beat and replicate fully. Great video man!

    • @dougiearcher
      @dougiearcher 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are absolutely right, plenty of stages for lots of different amps!

  • @GregMcleanGuitar
    @GregMcleanGuitar 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I guess context is key. If you're playing smallish venues and/or only have a couple of "rock" tunes, a big over-driven Marshall stack is probably not gonna get you there. A good amp in a box pedal is definitely going to save space and hopefully add to the versatility of your rig (I play in a couple of wedding bands where its great to have a plexi tone for the Bon Jovi numbers and a sparkly clean amp for the motown/lovey dovey stuff) That said, nothing feels like a good tube amp moving air and interacting with the acoustics of the room, I'm team amp at every opportunity, but definitely dig the modelers - to each their own. Great work dude! excellent demo of the different tones you can get with this gear!

    • @dougiearcher
      @dougiearcher 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for the kind words! You are correct, context is definitely key! I’ll be honest, I still haven’t played a stage where there wouldn’t be a comment made about the volumes of the Marshall at 5w, let alone gunning it a little! Fingers crossed one day! 😅

    Hey man how are you doing? I am more of a hard rock/ blues player but I like the pushed American lead type sounds (Eg. Soldano SLO drive). I am playing a lot with the volume of my guitar (PRS CE 24). Whuld you suggest getting the countess for achieving those lead tones? Or do you suggest the kraken which is a more metal format amp?

    • @potentiometergr
      @potentiometergr 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      From my understanding the countess has a more round and wide sound than the lead that I am looking for I think.

    • @dougiearcher
      @dougiearcher 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! Thank you for the question - sorry for the delay in responding. I think both of the Jack and the Kraken’s 2nd channels would get the lead tone you are looking however if I had to put my money on one over the other, I would suggest the Kraken, even more so I would look maybe to get the Kraken MKii rather than the MkI, whilst the differences are minimal, it makes it a more versatile amp. If I were buying new now and I didn’t have either, I would go for the Kraken MkII over my Jack as an initial purchase.

    Thanks for producing this video. I’ve had my eye on this model of Jazzmaster since Fender introduced it. I have a Performer Strat HSS that’s the best Fender I’ve ever owned. I’m a player, not a collector. The Performer series has everything I need and nothing I don’t. They are awesome music tools in my opinion. I really don’t care that it’s not historically correct. The Strat trem and the classic gear tuners are both improvements to playability. Again, thank you for an excellent review video.
