What Sydney McLaughlin JUST DID Something INSANE in 400 Hurdles
On July 22nd, 2022, Sydney McLaughlin from the United States pulled off one of the most incredible feats in track and field history. During the World Championship finals in Eugene, Oregon, she shattered her own world record in the 400m hurdles, clocking an astonishing time of 50.6 seconds. This achievement was monumental because it marked the first time a female athlete had ever run the full lap of hurdles in under 51 seconds. What made it even more extraordinary was that this was her fourth world record in just two years.

I love Femke but the classy Sydney just ran a 50.70 in 400m hurdles . So right now Sydney is the best and really its not cool to pit them against each other . They are both beautiful talented classy perfect physical specimens so athletic so pretty and so fast both of them with Sydney the fastest as of right now . We now have a better indicator of what can happen in Paris. For the Dutch commenters, it appears McLaughlin-Levrone will be at the top of her game in Paris. You will get your wish to see if Bol has caught up with Sydney in the 400m H as she will be running in that event. I suspect Sydney will be favored to win. If you are still sure that Bol will dominate Sydney in Paris, I suggest you put some money on that in Las Vegas. Bol is great, but in all her races over the last year, she has not run against anyone like Sydney.
Bol is a great runner but Sidney is in a different class. Sydney definitely a faster runner, ( absolute proof in her quicker times), so with all the hype in athletics Sydney is the undisputed champion without a doubt. I am a fan of both Sydney and Femke. I admire that Femke shows up for races, and how hard she works not just for herself but for her team. But it would be unwise to assume that Sydney's absence from some of these events means she is falling behind. We'll find out soon enough.

Learn your FACTS? Gabby and Abby ran FAR above their PB's (21.60 and 21.77) in that race and Bol's PB on the 100m is 11.47 (which is nicely average for a 400m runner) NOT 13 seconds

I think Bob Kersee is doing a terrible disservice to Sydney by keeping off the track and I hate his coaching (see also Athing Mu). Paris is going to be the test. If Sydney doesn't show up or if Femke beats her then Femke is the GOAT. If Sydney wins again then Femke is a great runner but had the bad luck of running in the same era as Sydney.

@@hermankranendonk In flat out speed, 100m, 200m, 400m Sydney is simply faster. She doesn't run much at all for flat speed, but you can see in the recent 200m she ran that she has world class speed. Femke doesn't have that kind of speed. She is a very good 400m runner, but she wouldn't be able to beat Sydney there. Sydney is simply a better sprinter and hurdler. It's just bad timing for Femke that she is living in the age of Sydney.

Sydney is only seven MONTHS older than Femke. About the same age. They have at LEAST TWO MORE OLYMPICS before they succumb to age. Looking ahead to 2028 AND 2032
Indeed: + McLaugling started on the hurdles in 2014, Bol in 2019. So in 2021 and 2022 Bol had only 2 resp 3 years of experience, while McLaughlin had 7 resp 8 years of experience. That difference in experience is already evening out, but in 2028 and 2023 it will have become irrelevant. So the best years are still to come!

it's out of question that Femke Bol is the favorite in Paris 2024. Sydney is currently even not the best hurdles runner of USA (which is Anna Hall, if she would take part in, besides heptathlon, the competition of hurdles)
