@@ClearLakeFishingTV talk with Paul Bailey about the spots. I have a video of a fish that I hooked near state park. It broke off at the boat because Brenda and I couldn’t identify what kind of bass it was. We were more concerned about what it was than getting it in the boat. It was very dark, darker than a largemouth, and it was over 5 lbs! In the video you can see it was a bass clearly.

@thomasmartin8202 it was a wiggly fish so I struggled with the scale and opted to get her back in the water. It was in the 3's, but I couldn't get a lock. Smallies definitely have a lot of fight in them!

The line was looking a little funky so I think it happened a while ago, the fish was a little skinny, but otherwise seemed no worse for it. I chose to not try to remove the hook in favor of getting her back in the water asap.

Yes definitely!... Also I just think its amazing that I've never heard or seen a small one..they always seem to be big quality fish that are caught!...

@DBCooper71 I looked into the fish species of Clear Lake a few years back and I remember correctly, smallmouth bass were on the list of past species that aren't considered to be there anymore. They were introduced as a game species a long, long time ago. Maybe the 1950's? I can't recall 100% what I read.

@jeufuyang6261 I normally use the 90 Gilly for dropshop unless it's bass spawn and then I go with the medium or large ones. Hooks vary depending on whether I nose hook or Texas rig.

@thomasmartin8202 Yes, it was a juvenile swallow. They nest under my neighbors house. Beautiful little acrobatic birds. I enjoy them a lot. By dusk (our 4th time back outside) it took flight and re-joined the group. I like to think that it found its way back to its rightful place. 🤞 As for the bass, I 100% agree. Greatful for them all, and do my best to respect them. Thanks for watching. Tight lines!

@db9818 so true. I remember 30-50 fish days and it was hard to find them much under 5#. I never hit 100 bass at CL last year.

Clearlake is changing. From all the droughts and tournaments it's had a beating.

@@bassinbilliards6279 idk, it’s always had a lot of tournaments and drought. It’s also gone up and down like this from time to time, the good thing is starting to see some small fish. For a while I wasn’t catching any lil guys and that was concerning, today caught three lil ones and three over 4lbs.

Sometimes you just have to get it where you can find it.
