I saw John Peters' dual engine Freight Train run at the INDY Nationals in the 60's. He won the nationals easy going last run alone! LOL The Freight Train dragster(s) were ahead of their time.
I have seen lots of these autobahn runs and they are boring. Where are the curves? Plus the lack of manual shifting reminds me of driving bumper cars at an amusement park. Whatever happened to passionate drivers?
Alky dragster rules were pretty open back then, blown alky, injected nitro, nitrous oxide, made it interesting, but I suppose a nightmare fot the sanctioning body and the tech dept! LOL!
I can account to the drag racing event in Great Bend, Kansas military airport. Calvin Jack Rices' white dragster. A blown transmission and a rain-out did finish the first natls. Though NHRA move to Arizona in November the same year. where Uncle Calvin Rice WINS first TOP FUEL. Its on the NHRA books and in the museum at L.A. County Fair.

Curves are not on the Autobahn. There also aren't any hills; they tunnel right through them rather than making the road dip up and down.
