He is totally off the tempo. So far off that Borat and Bellatrix came in late. It's one thing to be able to sing by yourself, but it's another thing to be able to sing a specific part correctly when needed. This is an ensemble piece, and he needed to be on time.

@@Raz.Cbeing an actor who has a band is not the same as Eddie, Hugh and Samantha who are Broadway musicians lol Different skill level, a different actor should have been cast in his role

@@amandasarisky7363 You've forgotten that Russel wasn't a noteworthy actor in 1992. The Quick and The Dead, as well as L.A. Confidential were his only big-name movies before Gladiator, in '99. Additionally, before Gladiator, Romper Stomper was the only movie where he had a starring role and since that was a very small Australian production, he wasn't making a living as an actor.

He's actually a rather talented singer. But this is WAY out of his range. His band was called _30 odd foot of grunt_ and big Russel was the lead singer of that band. From its inception in '92, to its demise in 2005.

@@lazysmurf420 Was he off-tempo in this video? Sure. But that's not all that surprising, considering that this was the first time any of them had rehearsed this song together and performing in combination with others can be confusing if you're not used to it. I found his performance in the movie to be flawless. I also rather enjoy some of the songs his band put out. He's also likely the most experienced singer of the entire cast. Some have singing roles in musical theatre, but none of them have ever had to carry an international band, for over a decade, with ONLY your voice on display (as opposed to almost every member of the cast getting a song to sing).

astray my ass... that man couldnt find the beat if his life depended on it. That is why they had him bouncing his hand. They were walking him through the basic rhythm. Great casting! ROFL
