I really liked how a lot of the bass sounded with the effects so I thought I should upload the bass only version. Everything heard in this video is bass guitar; no synths. Sorry the video is a little out of sync though.

Adding bass to another Vukovi song: their latest single Mercy Kill. Just wanted to have fun with this one so I threw *all* of the effects I could at it. Guitar solo for 'Bleak' by Humans Inc (link below) Initial lead is 15/8. Then main solo is 7/4 followed up by some 6/8 homage to Map of the Problematique. The high sound is the guitar that's on the track, but I thought it would be interesting leave the actual guitar pedal (notes not stompboxes) in the video. Nailed the bass tone/sound for Futurism by Muse! Using the Octo Puss Prime fuzz (great for the Muse Fuzz sounds), with a second channel doing octave down blend on the ElectroHarmonix Pitchfork. I could maybe lower the 800Hz a little? Or add some compression but still, very happy with close it is. Ever since I discovered Vukovi in 2017, they immediately became one of my favourite bands. A few tips, Justin has relatively less drive, a tip I would give is to boost your treble and high mids to max and slightly boost lows and cut low mids, and he uses chorus, and his delays are set to specific ms to match the tempo of the song.

Sounds great! As a guitar player primarily I always struggle with bass tones. I may end up using this as a reference
Great stuff! Though keep in mind, Tool approach their bass sound more like a synth so there's multiple channels (if you use headphones, you'll notice the effect is in one ear and drive to the other), so there's a stereo enhancement. The bassists that do this stand out notably (Muse another great example). Bass tones are often better built than chased...took me 18 years to learn that :)

I once have been trying to record a full guitar cover of I EXIST and failed, this song is so complex rhytmically I couldn't wrap my head around these weird slight riff changes every fxckin bar(measure). Today I tabbed in GP8 a part of this song so was looking up and found your bass cover. I didn't even realise there was bass missing in some of NULA and overall their band doesn't have a bassist. Wonder if they fill that space in the future.
Yeah I hear you, the interlude after I EXIST (ATTENTION) sounds simple but is complex too. It's an exceptionally well written record, and they do have bass...intermittently throughout the record, but when it's there, it's almost always root notes or copying guitar. The similar bands in this space (Muse, Enter Shikari, Biffy Clyro, even Limp Bizkit to an extent etc) all have such distinctive and prominent bass guitar, it can just make the band's sound (which appears to have continued with the latest singles) feel lacking when played at high fidelity (the high compression rates of streaming alleviates the issue a bit); that's why I've opted to use the vinyl versions for my covers as well. A little bit more high/top. Good luck on the guitar though! I'm hoping to finish the second half of this album bfore the end of the year. Flat above mine had water damaged; collapsed ceiling which destroyed half my pedals =/
