3 units in a urban residential zone lot…rural residents need not apply. I can’t even park a trailer in my driveway in beckwith county and sleep in it without breaking a bylaw.

Every ward has a crime rate, that doesn't mean you can't live there. We're talking about the location of the area, proximity to schools, amenities and transit and that puts Alta Vista on the map as an option for families.

All the info is in the description! Rent is $2,600 per month.
I think Google maps and the city are going to have to update their map of Kanata. For example The Canadian Tire center is listed everywhere as being in Kanata. same with the palladium drive car dealerships, Kanata ford, Kanata Honda, myers Kanata Hyundai, Myers Kanata Nissan, Myers Kanata chevrolet/buick are all outside the red dotted line on your map. The Kanata recreation complex on the west side of Terry Fox drive south of the queensway is also outside the red dotted line. Most stores, businesses, restaurants along Hazeldean road west of Terry Fox road label themselves "Kanata" until you get west of Huntmar road. Either that or a few hundred businesses and buildings need to change their names to Stittsville, because they arent in the ottawa Kanata boundaries.
Even Tanger Outlets is listed as "Kanata" ontario on websites, and it is north of the queensway, so technically it doesnt even fall under the map pf Stittsville OR Kanata.
Not sure how often Google updates their maps but this is their most current info. Most business will be on that territory of Kanata/Stittsville.

Having lived in Edmonton for a year, Victoria for 3 years, Kingston for 3 years, Montreal for 3 years, Halifax for 4 years, Toronto for 5 years, and Winnipeg for 8 years, I can say Ottawa is by far the best city I have lived in. As you pointed out clean, safe, incredible education and employment opportunities, and there is so much to see and do in this city....so much more than any other. Having embassies from almost every country in the world within it, adds to it's diversity and culture like nothing else can. By far the best city in Canada to live in.

Thanks Andrei. One more con I would like to add is the presence of homeless people and drug addicts in the downtown area. It's really unfortunate to see such sight in the capital city of a first-world country. Their number has increased significantly in recent years. It's terrible.
Unfortunately, this is a complex issue in every city. The presence is greater in certain parts of downtown vs others, depending on where the shelters are located. That being said, there also needs to be a more organized approach on this topic. There are plans for further investment to tackle homelessness as well as how mental health crisis will be dealt with. Let's see where this goes. Thanks for watching!

Yeah, logistically it seems a bit tricky. Just parking alone has me confused. I do like the idea of it being connected to the Rideau Centre, but again, that's a lot of foot traffic! 🤷♂
I'm very excited for this project. It's about time Ottawa grows up instead of out. It will also add a dynamic true city look to our rather bland and flat skyline. Any idea when it will break ground?

The average price can go up because one or two high value homes sell and sway the average. Are there bidding wars at the moment?
The average price always includes highs and lows but it gives a good understanding of what's happening with prices month-over-month. We've had bidding wars since March but it all depends on the house, condition and area. We are still seeing bidding wars as we have low inventory so buyers are forced to compete. This is normal in a seller's market.

Back-Up Generators should be mandatory for High-Rise Buildings... but include the Water Pump??? 10 days May 2022... no water, no power = Derecho. Otherwise the older Condos... dont have the Glass Balcony... see thru... it's a Concrete Bunker (if they even have a balcony). Newer are probably a lot more Energy Efficient = Insulated. Having indoor pool is great... but brand New pool still breaks down time after time after time... it's hi-larious or just sad. Curiously even new appliances can have a high failure rate... it's just bananas. Anyhow Zero Disclosure offered about BACK-UP generators, if you're an old timer living in a Condo.
I was under the impression that high rise buildings over 5 floors must have backup generators according to the building code. Now.. how efficient are they in a full blackout is another question. They could only be good enough for some basic light power and elevators? 🤷♂But good point though, I totally agree.

I'm not aware of any info that this project is cancelled - have you heard something? The only project that's officially cancelled is the Claridge Hintonburg. Keep in mind that these bigger developments take time before they start. The process is unfortunately quite lengthy.
"unparalleled living experience" ..it's located in the suburbs... Good luck finding anything to do or any stores to go to without getting in a car and driving 20+ minutes
Suburbs??? It's in the heart of Barrhaven. You have access to literally all amenities nearby within a 5 min drive max.
@@ShowMeOttawa thanks for responding, it was definitely my bias thinking this was in the suburbs based on how the house was designed and what I could see from the video, so I didn't look up its location. But really, why live in a place that you're required to drive at all? A 5 min drive is like a 20 minute walk, that's far better than many places in Canada or the states but compared to most of the developed world it's awful
@@Galluchh Oh for sure, I hear you! I think it comes down to preference and proximity of nearby amenities - how close does someone actually want to be. And then you need to figure out everything else, like you mentioned, walking, driving, etc.
