This is an idea I can go for because I'm homeless but live in a car for two years now and park all day at work in the sun when driving trucks for my employer. A quick assemble and disassemble each day for not charging the car elsewhere means no fuel cost, no mortgage, weekend free for touring... as long as the sun is shining!

What's to stop someone from stealing those panels while you have it parked? It's a stupid idea unless you're road-tripping. It doesn't make sense during the daily urban commute. Just charge at home or a supercharger.

It isn't "special" in terms of being extra good, just a customer order spec. From an XRF I saw, it's just a slight variant of 301, a low nickel (and thus cheaper) alloy steel than the usual 304 or 316. Customer specials are nothing new. Our drawing office had a file cabinet full of them. They were called "Customer Requested Additional Products."

Model 2 may not happen , likely model 3 will be brought to an affordable price of 35k or less. with EV credits it will be as low as a civic or corolla.

Although the idea is good, it could be more efficient and smartly executed. If it doesn't compromise the car's aerodynamics, you could potentially lose the same amount of kW per day just by driving around with this. With a price tag of 50,000, one could have developed a whole new panoramic roof with built-in solar panels..

performance seats. it was supposed to be a ludicrous model 3 but they ended up making it less than 600 horse power so it's just a performance not ludicrous and the changed the logo to a new performance one instead of the ludicrous one shown on the concept

Downloaded it yesterday. Test drive did show steering low beams, but did not show high beams funneling light around other cars as shown in vid; it just turns beams on or off like it used to before the update. In my research I found others saying this is awaiting a USA regulation development, not a technical thing. Maybe sorta both is my guess.
