Finally, a grand piano with no style or class
Wonderful
This is cool! It's really perfect for a game room. I would never put this in my living room, which is typically where most people have their grand piano.

It's Piano sonata No.4 by Scriabin !
should be no.4
@@bobase Oops! you are right! I play No.5 too and made a mistake! Thank you!
Gorgeous pianos!!!! Wow!
I saw on your website that you currently have a library of "over 1000 songs" that the piano can play, but no information about what those songs are or how often the list is updated. I'm also assuming from the way that's worded that one can't simply load a midi file for it to play. Where can I find the list, and is there a process for getting songs available on a custom basis? This seems every bit as important as the instrument itself given the context.
Hello @monstamunch101. Great question! As standard the music libriary is around 1200 songs and you can upgrade for 5000 - our full music libriary as an option. We do have a list of the songs/albums we can happily send that come as standard with the piano. With regards to custom tracks - yes this is something you can do. You can either make your own tracks or we can make them for you at a cost. We are looking to roll out a subscription service in the future and this still currently being researched. Trust this helps! Email us on sales@edelweisspianos.com if you would like a list of the songs/albums that come with an Edelweiss as standard.
Surprisingly American sound. Tone is more oriented toward the attack than with European pianos. I would think Bach and the like would sound good because it leads using the percussive attack. At one time this kind of piano were very desired in USA but then loud electric popular music and drums seems to have just swept it all away somehow. We have heaps of these little lightly built baby grands around for free these days.
They can be unique… and better than anything else on the market. And I think I showed you how it can be done.
never plays it though
buy, never play it
Could not see much of the frame (as the strings are on) but seems interesting. Maybe the bars are not so crucial for baby grands as the frame can get thicker (less prone to buckle) than those for royal grand pianos.
I am afraid that the only place where this can be put to test would be in an extremely quiet studio or better of - in an anechoic chamber. This way self resonance can be explored although in the case of a piano specific strings should be addressed because some of them might have sympathetic resonance to such floating board. Most pianos are too heavy on the lower mids (muddy sounding). With baby grands that might not be the case though. A big brand built special facilities for such research.
Hey, I am often in harrods and I greatly admire your pianos. I am a pianist from west london, maybe we can work together on something soon.
I think all the edges of wood planks and slabs should be rounded. Yes, it is much more work but besides looking much better rounded edges reflect sound in more directions (the higher harmonics) - same when they resonate.
Black (gloss and matt) are pretty generic. I would try and do dark\midnight purple or ultra dark-violet with very gentle glitter dispersed. But those are cosmetics. Not important for playing.
Still, you have chosen to open the lid from the side of the highest strings ("traditional" way, so no 'butterfly wings' type). 2:09 min. and especially on 3:28 min. some of the round holes on the metal frame look a bit (quite a bit) jagged and not smoothly round (maybe due to the welded pieces) but I can see it. The actual sizes of those holes look a bit random but I might be wrong as I have not seen the stress diagram. The matt finish seems spotless!
Direction of sound is great - although in all fairness standard grand pianos have their lid opened from the side of the treble strings. Now, if we take into account the fact that lower strings have longer wave length (the fundamental pitch of "middle C" is about 1.3m and 1st harmonic is about half that), then such way of opened lid on grand pianos does not make sense for the highest notes no piano have wave lengths of about 10cm (centimetres). Meaning that the highest notes would have lost a lot energy till they get reflected by the edge of the lid (hardly ever because the lid opens as an arc - on hinges at the opposite side where the bass strings are). The lid on the standard piano should open the other way around! But this would imply that the pianist left hand will have to face (lower notes) the audience. "Wing" config of opened lids makes sense for the lowest notes and this is great idea (implementation) indeed! It still does not serve that well the highest notes. Maybe a sort of "accordion" folded lid would make for better reflections taking into account the wave lengths of the notes (first harmonics for the lowest mid notes) and fundamentals for the highest notes. On the other hand… who ever said that piano notes should ascend from left to right? If we take into account the symmetry of our fingers from the perspective of placing them on a top of a surface (keys), it would make much more sense that the keyboard should be "split" so that the notes for each hand ascend from thumb to pinky fingers. This way every chord and melodic phrase will have the same symmetric fingering for each hand and learning to play will become much faster and easier.
the self-playing feature can also be turned into a tutoring feature (f slowed or properly paced), really

Massive factual error, NO, PLAYER PIANOS AND PIANOLAS AREN'T THE SAME THING. Aeolian made player pianos called "Pianolas" and they also made the Duo-Art player system which could reproduce dynamics exactly as the arranger of the roll wanted. There was also the Ampico, Welte Mignon, Artrio Angelus and Recordo systems among others that could play with dynamic control. And the last thing, the self playing piano wasn't popular until around the 1910s, the first completely integrated player pianos were made in the 1880s and in small numbers. It was after 1899 that the cabinet upright players really took off! People have got to get their facts straight dammit
This is the magic of digital player pianos, if they weren't so damn expensive then they would be more popular!
The possibility of recording the playing of a musician with all its subtleties and later playing it back pneumatically on other instruments from the same manufacturer, while these can still be played normally, was patented in 1904 for pianos and in 1912 for organs by the company M. Welte and Sons from Freiburg in Germany. also a device which can be pushed to an already existing normal piano in order to automate it with the same technology. The innovation on the Edelweiss pianos is the possibility to control them wirelessly via MIDI and to record pieces digitally and easily at home.
not bad, quite interesting actually
