I played this with my band a few years ago, it's such a beautiful piece. It really brings tears into my eyes the memories that I had with my band and learning this song, it just makes me think about how wonderful music is and can be.

Only version I've found that includes singing the lyrics-- nice! But something is really off kilter re playing the instruments in sync 🤔 I'm on a quest for the best version of this awesome piece which some consider out natl anthem (or should be) -- the best I've found is Keith Lockhart and/or Arthur Fiedler & the Boston Pops. Flawless! (and not just cuz I'm from Beantown honest)

EXCELLENT conducting! Finest I've seen on TH-cam. You never used two hand when one was enough. The pattern was simple and continued throughout the number. Cutoffs were down and precise. You used the second hand for contrast. You physical conducting made this rendition great. Sir, I thank you and respect your conducting skill!

Yes! the Wilhousky classic! i met peter wilhousky in 1957 when I was first Bassoonist at Ft. hamilton HS in bay Ridge Brooklyn. A beautiful man and a great musician. He was Chairman of the Music Department at the Bd. Of Ed.. of the City of NY. His other outstanding work is "The Carol of the bells" which I've heard from here in the US to Manila in the Philippines.

Thank you for posting this. Our community band is going to perform this very arrangement this coming spring at our first concert of the year. I'm the conductor and could never find this until now.
