students should focus on studying, especially good schools with higher expectations wants students to be more focused than other schools.

kiyomiku Having a part time job doesn't mean you can't study in your free time though. I don't think any student would work from the moment the school day is over 'til they have to go to bed, and do so every day. If I had a part time job, I don't think I'd spend any less time studying than I do now, especially because I pay to go to school lol.

Well, what you think is one thing, what the school think is another... It's the most common reason they had for forbidding part time job as a student. Second most common reason is it breaks the image of the school if they consider themselves as higher class school.

kiyomiku I suppose you're right, I just kinda feel a school shouldn't have any right to decide what you do in your free time. Thanks for explaining it though.

Actually,it's because High school is not a forced requirement in Japan. You actually have to pay to go to it. Since they are paid education they have every right over what the students can or can't do. SOme of them allow work,but most if not all of the University-oriented High Schools prohibit part-time work because if you wanted to work then you should not have gone to school to begin with but instead skipped school (since you know, it's not forced education). If you want to go to university then you should be studying your ass off anyway because the best universities have incredibly harsh entrance exam requirements. Basically, you either study or work. Pick either.
