Wow , so much has changed since I first visited there as a kid in the 70's ; it seems so "criminal" that it hasn't been preserved by heritage laws preventing it from being lost to progress & time but at least I've got some great memories from a few visits to there over a number of years but living in W.A. for more years than I'd lived in Sydney these days - I miss the "old days" as Lithgow depot was always a great place to visit for a railway nut ( Gunzel ) like me who grew up in Baulkham Hills but had moved in the mid 80's ; Many Thanks for sharing your great shots. p.s: are you using a DJI Mavic or Mavic pro drone as they're just awesome shots.

Used to work at Lithgow Loco Depot and at 3:29 from left to right with the new interurbans the buildings are the former diesel fueling point and beyond that the sand shed left for diesels and right for electrics then the electric departure road. The main shed 1.road an electric through road, 2. road also a through road but had the drop pit located on it. 3. road a short road and the long shed which has been extended from the different coloured building is the former machine shop. 6 & 7roads which were diesel through roads and then the diesel departure road. To the right of that is the former administration building which also had a large meal room, showers, toilets and huge locker room. The electric set on the diesel departure which runs down over the depot turntable down to the former steam shed where locos were washed. When Pacific National took over they said they had twenty years of use for the loco depot and then a couple years after that statement they shut the depot and turned it into a wagon maintenance depot. But now that's gone too. Once these new interurban EMU's are in service it wouldn't surprise me if the depot is completely demolished. So much has been demolished even in this view with the relief road beside the fueling point gone and all the "stop work" roads at the east end of the main shed gone. The new EMU's only go as far as the sand shed and electric departure road as there's no rails beyond there as they've been lifted. When I left in 2000 I left with a sizable completely tax free redundancy. For agreeing to the handover from state run Freightcorp to private Pacific National the remaining people each got 10K dollars less tax so they only actually got about 6K dollars each. I left with over 150K and now have much more as unlike others who took the redundancy they bought new cars, boats caravans whereas I invested all the money as it's not everyday you're given that amount of tax free money.

Can you do a video of this roundabout when raining? I have spun out on it before - and saw a ute do the same last night. This roundabout is dangerous when the road is wet.

I love it there. Been going up there for a bit over 15 years
