You just made an old man very happy, thank you.
Gloriously relaxing. Lovely long shots and scale speed. Thank you
Wow! What a fantastic setup you have created! You should fill up some empty trucks with bird feed and see what happens 😊
cool
Hi Richard, very nice job you made of that.
Great little engine, if only I could find one
Tis a lovely thing - I'm afraid it's very much not for sale!
I can see from your video's that you have much fun with it
laugh?! (0:44)
Very good engine driver!:-)
can you fit this whistle to berties as well?
Joe Bradley Manor Really good question... Almost certainly not this exact model (which is the one DJB do for a Roundhouse "Fowler" as the resonator tube and gas tank would be in each other's ways. Possible one of their other ones might fit, though I'd want to measure and check very carefully as the dome and saddle tank don't leave much room on the cab front. One idea might be to drop DJB a line and ask them whether they know of anyone who has fitted one of their whistles to a Bertie. In fact, having done a bit of googling I found this thread - gardenrails.myfreeforum.org/archive/steam-whistle__o_t__t_8980.html - which indicates that someone has done so but it was one that went under the cab floor.
thanks for info-I may well send them an email
Very nice layout in landscape.
Great stuff i really enjoyed running at your line on the day..Will be back again soon as well..
It was George Mikes who said "The British take their pleasures bravely". I reckon he had a point.
Indeed - reaching down to smite the Sedum of doom.
That would be Ysbaddaden Chief Giant whose hand descends from the sky, I presume. Is that Gwydion's magic wand that he's carrying?
It was going to be a great shot! And then the loco ran out of gas, and the camera ran out of space on the memory card. :-) Glad it amused you.
Love the ending words! lol
Yes, I plan to make some fake goods to sit over the top to try and hide the spaghetti wires! I love the paint job on your Millie, it makes it look very smart. I hope to get mine lined like yours in the future because I think it works really well. Also, someone I know has a Wren as well and I think they look very detailed. You certainly have a perfect fleet of locomotives! I should hopefully have a small portable layout by the summer to run my engines on and perhaps a garden railway in future.
Thanks, yes I was wondering about the wagon. Watching again, right at the end I did catch a quick glimpse of the batteries etc. in the wagon.
If you look in the video, you can see a wagon behind the loco. The radio control unit and batteries are housed in there and there is a switch hidden just under the chassis. The wagon was just a brand bright multi-plank wagon kit.
Very nice - great wee engines, aren't they? Where have you ended up putting the batteries and receiver? Managed (with difficulty!) to squeeze both onto the engine, under the footplate.
I have just converted my Millie to RC! There is a video on my channel.
Thanks, I was looking in to getting Lightline to do it.
Okay, thanks for replying
Can't remember, I'm afraid - it was at least ten years ago, and it was bought from a good friend who needed to realise some assets at the time.
Yes, it's Victorian Maroon; the lining was done by Geoff Munday of Lightline.
Is Wilberforce in Victorian Maroon or just Maroon? Mine is in Maroon and I am thinking about lining it like yours.
How much did you pay for this loco may ask?
Glad you liked it. Yes, there have been various modifications (and another one under way!), the whistle has definitely been one of the more entertaining ones. It got written up - I'll add the link to the video description.
Nice, I have a Roundhouse Millie too and I am thinking of making various modifications. You have interesting videos so I have subscribed!
Great little loco!
Hi, It's based around 2x IP Engineering "Atlantic Observation Coach" (hacked around to move a door) and 1x "Atlantic Buffet Coach". Power bogies are scratchbuilt around the IP wheelsets with MFA Como 3v motors. Planet T5 2.4GHz radio control with the AnDel "Triplex 3" speed controller. 5xAA batteries under on power car. Much more on the Garden Railway Forum (link in video description).
Exellent, Super smooth slow speed, are these scratch built? What ESC/Radio setup are you using? Will look great when painted and populated, KBO! you are doing a great job.
Beast, rather than Thing, is definitely the correct classification for it. The works plate says "Built 1992 [I think - might be 1982 but I think 1992 is correct] W. H. Andrews, Seaton Ross". Single (huge) oscillating cylinder, geared about 2:1; displacement lubricator with oil feed regulator; exhaust diverter (funnel or downwards). Five-tube meths burner with chicken feed; boiler has 16 fire tubes (yikes) and steams nicely. On-board water tank with hand and axle pumps. Quality engineering.
That's a neat-looking beast! Any more info?
He looks exactly like a former boss of mine :-(
It's a good start, and I ;like the "tramway" sectrion. What is that rather smart little diesel?
Marvelous, good use of camera angles!
frist one nice , got some really nice shot there , fit in with the garden well
Great fun. Your Roundhouse Millie looks and sounds fantastic steaming around. Keep on steaming, it's a great hobby!
Fantastic little locos. I only wish mine could get a longer run more often! They do look smashing in Victorian maroon.
Chuffer sounds great. Skips rattle a bit. I like your in front of loco video technique
Another fantastic sounding Millie! The new Victorian maroon really does suit millies...
Wilberforce is in fine voice and looking very smart Richard! You just have to build that railway now! Cheers Chris
Dear Richard, Thankyou for the swfft reply and the info, invaluable! Yours faithfully, Stewart.
Where did you get this beautiful loco?
What a great little line! Nice to see some small locos stretching their legs!
Alway nice to see a Wren in steam!!
what gauge is this loco
Railways and strawberries - incorrigibly English!
Hopefully the children will remember that when they get older. Cool.
