Tableau Tutorial: Calculated Fields For Beginners
In this video, we will go over the basics of creating calculated fields in Tableau, some example use cases and some tips and tricks. Calculated fields are one of the most useful things in Tableau because it allows you to manipulate your data to get new insights to enhance your analysis. We will be creating an average spend per customer and an if else statement calculated field. By the end of this video, you will be able to create your own calculated fields and have a better understanding of when to use calculated fields in Tableau.

    Great video. I would suggest that instead of sorting on Sub-Category, create a combined field with Category and Sub-Category, and replace Sub-Category with it. Create the Sub-Category plus other exactly like you did. However, compute all table calculations using the combined field instead. The reason behind this is that in the video, you're sorting not by Sub-Category within Category, but instead by Sub-Category as a total. This would create problems if there is the same Sub-Category value within two or more Categories (which is the case for many of us watching this).
