Honestly a little too many sound effects during fight but good editing

Dude, removing a frame for forceful motion, I love that. Keep up the great work, and thanks for sharing!
Yea it definitely works, although it's a bit of trial and error to see where it looks best. Same thing with speed ramps. Appreciate the support!
Hello, cool video. I have a question, how the scene with the broken window and table was made? Were those breakable movie props? Thanks! -assistant editor from Greece
Glad you enjoyed the video...and happy to hear you are tuning in from Greece! Yes, those were breakable movie props. We had an amazing cast & crew that works on big Hollywood productions.

Blue arrow to replace clips. Option trim to reselect the previous handles positions. Use these two a lot.
@@nicbrik Good ones!
As an AE, I use Reverse Matchframe all the time, so I have it mapped next to my Matchframe key. I also have another that I use all the time: Effects workspace. I set up my effects workspace to only have the record monitor on screen, so when I need to work with 3D Warp or Animatte for example, I can quickly have a much bigger view of what I'm doing in one key, and the key to open the effects editor is right next to it. I also mapped Shift+B to open the Source Browser to quickly import newly received gfx, music cues, etc. And of course a classic: Shift+W to toggle waveforms on and off.
Love all this! And yes also good to have shortcuts for workspaces. I also use Shift + W for waveforms.
Sadly had all of these mapped already.. I'd say a button on the Wacom mapped to deselect all tracks proved to be quite useful. Shortcut for motion effect settings and remove effect as well.
Thanks for the suggestions. The remove effect shortcut seems to be a popular one, will have to try it out.
also. having a shortcut for everything to the right or left is nice. If you only want to move certain tracks. Hold "Alt" while clicking your shortcut.
Love being able to move everything to the left or right quickly!
One that I find super helpful is Default Patch (patches source to record tracks back to default), which I have as Shift+P (p for patch!). Others are : fade to/from playhead, to do custom fades really fast
Great tip!
Thanks for the video! I mapped 'Cycle Picture/Sound' to shift+F8. Very useful to quickly enable or disable video and/or audio tracks.
Thanks for sharing!
Didn't even know this was a thing! Thank you!
effects editor is a good shortcut.. trim mode...
For sure! Got my trim and segment modes on the default settings, I believe Shift + A/S/D/F
Fade in and fade out are super useful, just select what tracks you want it on, and place your cursor to where you want it to start or end. Sub clip and having effect palette, editor and motion editor on shortcut is essential.
Totally agree!
I map G key to Reverse Matchframe. I find that not everyone uses it. It’s great. Super useful.
That sounds like a good one. Will have to try it out!
What are some of your favorite keyboard shortcuts? ⌨
tnx

Encouraging your students to consider careers as plumbers or electricians is a great idea. These trades offer strong job security, competitive pay, and opportunities for entrepreneurship. Plus, skilled tradespeople are always in demand, making it a stable career choice. It also allows them to gain hands-on experience and potentially avoid the high costs of a traditional college education. By promoting these careers, you're highlighting the value of essential skills that society relies on daily. How do your students generally respond to this suggestion?
Just to clarify, I'm not encouraging my students to consider careers specifically as plumbers or electricians. I'm just saying it's important to be open to other opportunities. For example, one thing that comes to mind are editors who have been recently promoted to the chair. They might be struggling to find work right now since so many experienced editors are available. Competition is fierce! So maybe those people will need to look at assistant editor jobs. That means that their goal of growing an editing career might have to take a backseat at the moment. Or maybe if they wanted to keep editing scripted TV well maybe now they go work in local news. Those are just some examples. Then there is the whole idea of just finding a completely different career. I do think it is important to have a plan B, or at least think about it. But I also do mention that we shouldn't just give up on our goals completely. It's a case by case basis honestly. We have to look at our specific situation. The main thing here is to just be open to change and trying other things, and to understand that maybe right now we will have to put certain goals on pause. This video was inspired by a recent group coaching call with my students so it's a topic that's clearly on a lot of peoples' minds. I think they respond well to this suggestion, but it might also be something that takes a while to digest. I say this from my own personal experience dealing with this topic. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!
