Yep! The wood isn't going to transfer the heat.
A couple of smarties here in the comments! To begin with, you wouldn't need to contact your insurance company for a fire from doing this! SHow would it catch fire? Apparently you missed the part stating to use a few coats of a "quality" paint, Which would protect the wood. Not that the carburetor area gets that hot anyway or where the action of combustion takes place. An engine doesn't really get hot enough to catch wood on fire (450°-500°) on its own
Wood has been used for years as a carb spacers in all kinds of racing applications. Go to your local grassroots race tracks and look under the carb if the hood is off. The fuel is atomized as it goes past the spacer and doesnt soak into the wood, especially if you paint it like he mentioned.
so uhm. im not an expert when it comes to hotrodding but. air, fuel, heat, and wood doesn’t “sound” quite safe
It doesn't get that hot if it did. The gas in the carb would ignite wood is fine
TARDO!!!
Plastics have come a long way. But if wood works go for it
It doesn't get hot enough to ignite the wood, that would require about 500° if not more.
Good luck explaining that to the insurance company when it catches fire and burns your car to the ground.
You are joking - right? You have thousands of cubic feet of atomized gasoline flowing through there every minute without being ignited. But somehow in your little fearful mind the wood is a fire hazard. If this weren't so utterly absurd I would almost feel sorry for you.
@@artszabo1015 bad day or something? No reason in the slightest to be slinging insults at this person, unless you know, they were talking to you, but last I checked they never said "artszabo1015".
It doesn't get hot enough for that.
I like it

It seems the old guy does all the work. Carl, you need one less Slug and two more Stacie’s. JEGS!!!
I moved into my home 25 years ago. Shortly after I moved in near the 4th of July, I let off a firework that landed in the neighbors pool. The homeowner came out and said, "You fat bastard" in response to my firework. I should have used this channel name. Thanks for sharing, you guys look like fun.
Thanks and we appreciate your support!!!!

If you have accurate mating services and a decent malleable gasket you don't need anything but a little oil
Never done it but seen It done before a lot and the guy swears by it. I like the copper coat spray. MOPAR2YA 😎
Metals are different than 50 years ago buddy but I do understand why transmission fluid is used in transfer cases full of bearings
Women in the Garage don’t want to be in the video should leave the garage
Great tip!
So whats better, cost iron or steel? Sorry if its a noob question 😅
Steal is stronger and less brittle
Neat tip
Good tips.👍👍 Just subscribed.
Hell yeah! Subbed!
Did the dynamite stick get used to clean out that hose?
Rest in Peace Wimp, what a great guy.
Solid tip. Funny that manufacturers couldn't be bothered to "engineer" a plug in the bottom of their diffs.
Lmao! He was so excited to show you the Gages he bought for $5 and you just had to shoot him down with "what are you gonna do with em?". 😂. You could see the gears in his head turning to come up with a better answer than I dont know lol. Good video 👍
