Yes I do it based on maps most of the time. I love doing on certain maps I’m confident and know there’s many sheep like this one. I always do it against Rus no matter the map and I don’t do double scouts sometimes for when I want to max my timings because double scouts delay my timings by 30-40 seconds for the early to mid game.

Hey hey AyyAsttrox most times it comes down to the amount of “safe” food I have and how long it will last. If I can push out with my villagers to deer or boar and I feel they are safe enough I’ll delay the farm transition (especially if you are being aggressive and got map control!) If I’m being pressured and losing map control I would put more priority on farms if I’m running out of food (or just running out of food in general lol) Another reason is simply I’ve gathered too much wood and need food for production. If you have 800 wood for example.. you spend it!

This what I meant by investing right. You can’t take any build order too literal and need to change depending on what the opponent is doing. If the English player followed up by longbows after the 2tc they would be delayed before it hits my gold and not in as much pressure compared to the council hall. I should have all my gold gathered before then and if not I can put 2-3 more on gold and then push out with MAA (or if no spearman, horseman or even a knight) with +1 ranged defence. Sure there is the king but if the knight gets focused by a couple of MAA it will die. If the English player stays in Feudal for longer the better it generally is for me and 90 percent of the time the English does not follow up with longbows

Sounds like they just wanted to surprise, be annoying and hit you on more than one front lol Don’t stress though they can do a similar strategy in higher ranks but a lot better, faster 😉 Anyways grats on the win!

Glad you enjoy it 😊 I would recommend focusing on and perfecting getting to castle and getting relics first if you are new. This is more than enough to rush gold heavy units and destroy their second tc with ranks around gold and early plat as they are learning how to defend themselves

Nice I am glad you enjoy the vids! A good tip to throw off the AI and a lot of real players is to raid with 2-3 horseman. Keep them alive and cause lots of villager idle time and chaos while you boom ;)

@@jollyjungler3166 I too only started playing recently. Yesterday I realized that I had gone from being crushed by intermediate to almost squaring up to hard. Keep playing against bots for a bit but try to play some against players too since playing against players is a whole different game.

It's based on the civ AND the tempo advantage I have during the game. The idea is to get to castle and survive and there are many factors but here are some of the big questions I ask myself; 1. Do I have enough food secured to get to castle (example is 10 sheep) and have some little extra after to make units to push out and to make villagers? 2. How aggressive is this player, can i defend my gold and what is their civ timings? Am I amble to eventually push out if necessary to secure relics? 3. Are they going 2-TC? (If you see this it means and you are quick enough you have a brief "safe" window to get relics and even in some games to do a 12min fast Imperial). Hope this helps! Might do a vid on it tbh.

@@UrNo_UrNo Rus. Perhaps I am too catious to play them effectively. I did have lots of crossbows and heavy cav but yeah...

A Barbican rush (MAA Rush) is risky as well as the entire game depends on the HRE player securing food so denying sheep and raiding their food sources is an excellent counter strategy. Also I never like to push rus with a MAA rush. Rus can be very defensive, have access to early knights and you have much stronger walls / towers and you get a Feudal age Keep (the Kremlin) in the form of a landmark. Base design, good timings and knowing how to defend is key here. One of your towers with springald emplacement can kill many MAA.

I see, if your workers are threatened move them away and if behind chased run them around the tc or split off to lose the MAA. They are better off moving then staying still if they are being attacked. It takes time to learn but once you do it gets a lot easier and because of that when you increase your rank this kind of rush becomes less common from HRE

Really good point and thanks for letting me know. It’s this weird habit of mine as I hate having my ac more than 4 tiles away hence why I didn’t place too close to the berries. Really need to stop that habit lol Also as for the gold I wanted the wood more as I was having 6-9 vills on wood, wanted to cover the full wood line and only 3 on gold

Honestly I'm currently working that out right now. I always said I'll find another civ to play rank on when I hit conqueror and I did last month. So far I've enjpyed testing JoA, Chinese and Byz.

Yeah the build order includes one being trained in the first couple of minutes but forgot it lol But still your right one prelate for HRE in that build isn’t good… more to improve on

Honestly play what you like to play. I literally just play HRE on ranked because I enjoy it. If I feel like playing another civ I will (I do want to next season though).

@@UrNo_UrNo I am having a lot of fun with Ayyubids, Mongols, Rus and Jeanne. But I think it is hard to be a pro at one civ and I end up being more of a jack of all civs, master of none :(. Except Rus, all the other civs I play have some kind of a hard counter unfortunately. Don't know what to do. But I am just going to grind with whatever civs I fancy I guess.

For myself I said when I hit conquer I’ll try another civ so I’ve been playing Jeanne.. how do you find that civ for yourself? I’ve also thinking I want to have a crack at byz. You could be right as some civs excel at certain maps and against other civs

I don’t really play team games haha Least not just yet anyways. I’ve been thinking of just doing a tutorial build order for HRE soonish so that might help you. If you are in gold I highly recommend just focusing on a build order and the counter system. That should push you into plat fast 😀

Oh yes definitely or at least move the villagers to a safer food source that’s not on the front line 😅 But maybe some forward thinking would be good.. have a tower and arrow slits

You are right at times as some civs require at least a part feudal as you said, you don’t want to age up and then die. In this game I feel I can do it without much consequence. For example I wouldn’t be doing this against French

@@UrNo_UrNo I have a question for you seeing as though you are a good player. Most rts follow a boom rush turtle dynamic. What does and early turtle look like in this game? Is it towers a few walls and spears?

Honestly it depends on the game. I generally aim to have the minimum to survive and nothing more. I only want to spend the minimum on my defence so I can invest everything else into my eco. Some opponents are more passive so sometimes you don’t need to build too much defence and it all comes down to good scouting and good reads of the opponent. An example would be against French. I try to count the knights and see if there are archers so I know how much defence I require. Sorry I should have also added you need to consider how much secured resources you have safe. If you don’t have enough to use to eventually push out then more defences are required with more units to ensure you keep the resources you need

Yeah your right, it’s something that has been on the backburner for a while. Been too focused on other areas and yet my economy could have a %40-50 boost. From the comments lately I feel there’s two areas I lack. 1. Upgrades for eco and military. 2. Eco inspiration. These are the areas I’m going to focus on for a bit now That’s the thing some people excel at in certain parts haha Defs man ☺️

So the mills in front of the walls was a “I’m under pressure and can’t be bothered to spend the extra 3 seconds to do it properly” hahaha It’s silly I know and the prelates is something you and another commenter made me realise I have neglected that so it’s going to be a new priority 😊
