Hiya, great video. Are the battery’s from the 8220 compatible with the 8260 ? Many thanks
@@jamiemarshall3521 hi no the 8220 is an earlier model and the batteries are not compatible I'm afraid
They make nice tool boxes. I'm going to pickup a 4250 with all that gear after xmas. Yours was the first video that came up when I searched for this box
@@MikeMaker851 thanks the boxes are great, nice and robust and plenty of space for all the consumables 👍
I have a totally new Dremel 3000 (I have used it 4 or 5 times). I would like to upgrade to the 8260 model, but first I have to sell my equipment.
I do love the Stylo+ for the small projects. Great little tool
Nice work Andy!
Wish we got the Platinum kit in the US for the 8260, apparently it's Europe only from the attempts I've made to find it in the US. I was going to buy the 8250 but found the Platinum Edition of the 4300 and at the same price but I think I'm going to take it back and get the 8250 like I intended because being cordless is more convenient even if it ends up costing me $100 more from having to buy the add-ons and accessories.
Beautiful work
A caption at 22.26 says Ben popped the bearings into the freezer - as this would make them smaller and therefore a tighter fit on the shaft, surely you meant he popped the spindle in the freezer (or, alternatively, warmed up the bearings) ?
@@salandjim yes you are right it was the spindle that went in the freezer not the bearings
Sound is very low
That is really nice Bee!
You are wrong i have a peter childs with a splitter and use 2 pens
Thanks for the update this video is a few years old now and we were acting on the information we had at the time
I fail to grasp why you would want or need Bluetooth on a Dremel
Bluetooth is not for everyone but I am sure some people can see the benefits. As part of the unboxing we were highlighting the differences between the two models
@@TurnandBurnUKI was and still am undecided which one to buy. I’m leaning towards the 8260 because of the battery life but personally I’m put off with the Bluetooth, it’s something I don’t want or need and can’t foresee any situation where it would benefit me from using a non Bluetooth device and I begrudge paying for something I don’t want. You’ve given a fair comparison but for me it comes down to whether it’s worth the extra cost for extended battery life.
Dremel have also released the 8240 which will replace the 8220, this has the option of the 3ah batteries but no Bluetooth and ergonomically better than the 8220, it maybe worth a consideration. We've also done an unboxing of that if you are interested
Thank you for that, I will definitely check that one out as it sounds like the solution.
how about River/Mountain stone/Rock cutting ???
Both of these will support rock cutting with the right cutting disc but for prolonged cutting you might want to consider the corded device
How much will the platinum 4000 series run me.?
You would have to check your local region retailers but Amazon have the basis 4000 series starting at £96 the Platinum edition is circa £200
En français
veuillez consulter @dremel_global pour connaître l'équipement disponible dans votre région.
Are the batteries interchangeable between 8220 and 8260?
No the 8220 batteries are separate and won't fit the 8260, or vice versa. The batteries in the new 8240 are interchangeable with the 8260.
Don't worry Andy I have some of those fancy ring bowls to fix and create with. It seem to happen when your in the zen zone of turning. Take care my friend Cheers Harold
Yep it's always that one last pass 🤣 I was aiming for a nice thin wall 🤦♂️
I always love the advice 'stop just before you go through the wood' 🤦🏻♂️
@@ChestnutProducts I know it's stating the bloomin obvious 🤣 but as you can see even the obvious needs reminding 🤦♂️
Thanks to both of you.
Thanks Steve 👍
Cool Tool Take care guys Cheers Harold
Thanks Harold it's a great piece of kit especially useful for those smaller projects where holding the bigger dremel can be tiring
a wee tip if you can't afford one at the moment, if you're a member of amazon prime you can get it on monthly payments. That's what i did got the 8260 at £50 a month for 6 months i don't really need it at the moment but i jumped at the chance to get it on monthly payments, i have done this with other tools such as a table saw and planer/thickenesser always keep an eye on anything you want on amazon as it may pop up on monthly payments for a short time
Testing 👍
Where to buy. Where I temporary live the don't sell this type
The best thing to do is to go to the Dremel website for your current location and look for their list of suppliers. Dremel also retail through Amazon so it worth checking Amazon as well
Very nice Andy enjoy your demo
Thanks, will do!
Thanks so much for taking the time to make this! And thanks for joining us ❤ W
No problem 😊
The 8260 being brushless now exceeds the power of Dremel's most powerful corded multi tool by 20%. That alone is the biggest selling point you didn't mention.
Something for the weekend, Sir?
Nice bowl, well done. Chestnut recommend applying the ebonising lacquer directly to bare wood, as sanding sealer only serves to fill the grain, thereby reducing the effect you are aiming for. You should also brush out the grain beforehand to free it of excess dust from sanding. They do sell a liming brush for this, although personally, I use compressed air. Once again, nice work.
Дядя врет насчет аккума. В каждом по 3 элемента 16850, по-другому 12 вольт не получить. Еще он забыл про фонарик в 8220. Вижу только одно преимущество - бесщеточный мотор.
Have you done a Tailstock repair vid. My thread has jammed and I need to repair/ replace the thread…but how to dismantle?
Hi Peter, apologies for a delayed response I haven't been receiving notifications of new comments. Sorry we haven't done a tailstock repair video yet but will look into it 👍
Great video ❤
wanted to buy the 8260 but dont like the bluetooth. going for other alternative
I have a P.C. pyro unit, as does my granddaughter. She uses hers a lot, but when I bought us both a load of new tips on Amazon, hers soon stopped working. I've opened it up and everything's pristine - no indication of heat stress at all, yet the output side of the transformer isn't showing a reading. No burnt windings smell or anything. Frustratingly there's no output voltage stated on the transformer label, so I don't know what replacement transformer to buy. I'd advise against buying one if it's so finicky on replacement tips.
Roll up your sleeves, might save a broken finger
Possibly the worst sound quality on any utube vid.
Not true
Wow bee that looks awesome great work 👍🏻 x
Very Nice Bee ! 👍
Bluetooth is nothing but a complete load of capp..... Do they make a proper one with out this rubbish.....
Yes that would be the 8250. Seems to be the basically same tool scans Bluetooth. It has the brushless motor and same 3 amp battery. I tried one and it runs smooth, at lease when new. Not sure what Bluetooth can possibly do, its not as if you could let it work unattended (like a washing machine, i found I liked that as where my washing machine is a bit cold to stay there). I see where it can programed to limit speed. This could possibly be useful in an commercial assembly environment where you do not want any one to exceed a certain speed. Not sure, if this is the case but I have been places that do electronic assembly and the solder stations had a limit on how high the iron tips can go. I think that is reaching, Personally, I would not want it, what I want is longer runtime in some applications , I guess I could but bigger Bosh battery , Also maybe a smaller lighter ones at other time.
I want to get the 8250, but it's no longer sold in the UK
I agree, brushless is a big improvement, as he has the interchangeable batteries with the Bosch system. But a massive storage box to carry all the gadgetsand gizmos that you are rarely, if not ever going to use. And BLUETOOTH CONNECTION?? come on guys!! Anyway, I must dash… I’ve got a load of circles to cut out!
The pens look fantastic! My favorite is the spalted tamarind. It goes nicely with the gunmetal finish. Funny thing, though... I've never seen the mandrel mounted in the scroll chuck. Is it not a Morse taper, to fit directly into the lathe? Anyway, beautiful job on the pens. 👍
I’m 😅😅😅😅😅😅😮
Thank you, yes the Mandrel is 2 MT and can fit directly into the drive in the headstock. But it can be held in a 4 jaw chuck, the jaws will mark the taper but not to the detriment of using it directly in the headstock. I hold it in the chuck, purely because I was being lazy and not taking the chuck off the lathe. I wouldn't hold a drive centre in the chuck if I needed to do spindle work close to the headstock end as there is too much risk of catching either tool or fingers in the chuck. I hope that explanation helps
Wass this just gold tinfoil or something dirrerent?
You never mention the price,. It is kinda crazy.. i got the basic package with like 5 attachments wheels and it was $200 in a softcase. This has to be atleast $250.
Do you prefer Razertip ? Thank you for very helpful video
The big difference is brushless engine.
They are beautiful. Nice work Andy
This is a fabulous piece of work, Bee. I hope this isn't insulting, but from the thumbnail I assumed this was a deer _stencil,_ it looks so consistent. You've managed to create such depth in your work, that it far surpasses anything a stencil could do.
Lovely work, Bee!
I really like the fine line you've created with the Razertip tool, Bee. You also have a very steady hand if I may say so! Hope you do some more glass engraving videos with your Dremel - loved the bird on the gin bottle... Have popped you an email as directed in the description box. 😊
That is lovely! Great work
Can i ask. I have a Black&Decker badged cordess rotarey that i brought to use for the dog nails (as a first priority). then things like sanding and engraving as a hobby. But she vibrates like crazy that i won't use it for anything other then taking the edge off of something. If i'm looking for something that will last. In your opinion Would the quality of either these 8200s be a good choic
