Yep! This was genuinely played on the N64 system itself, no emulation whatsoever. I still have my old N64, and it still works just fine :)

No kidding. It took probably 10-12 tries just to beat it once, and even then, I was on my last life in the red on health, and only 1 AT-PT made it. Of course, I didn't have any advanced lasers or shields as I hadn't found them yet at that point. Heck, I never found those until after beating the Mon Calimari level and finally went back to trying to get medals on all the levels!

Damn straight!! Nintendo should work with LucasArts and remaster THIS game. They can add more levels, more playable ships, fix the Millenium Falcon cause it sucked in this game, update a level here or there, and most importantly...ADD MULTIPLAYER!!! This game would be AWESOME with multiplayer. Co-op AND versus. It would sell 10 million copies easy as a remastered version with multiplayer!

I agree. The Genesis has like a "twang" sound, especially in the music, that's hard to disguise. Despite the fact it's also a 16-bit console like the SNES. Not sure how Nintendo avoided the "twang" sound issue for their system.

“Thats It! ARE WE DOIN THIS?” Lol. hey yeah Sega always has the better movements and background effects, snes has calmer audio music. now sound effects, that’s about a tie. Also Graphics in general i’d say a good tie. Colors the SNES wins, gameplay Sega wins. so the outcome is, own both systems because that’s the best way to enjoy em.

Glad my playthrough was helpful! Out of curiosity, was there a particular level or two that kept you from progressing in the game?

@@thatonegamer4937 I just started playing these games for the first time recently. I though A New Hope was damn near impossible. It took me a while to get through the Sandcrawler which was just the fourth level. I hung in there and progressed. I don’t think I ever could beat the Tie Fighter level and then the Trenches. Your video helped me a ton because I didn’t really know what to do. I just started playing the Empire Strikes Back and holy Hell. It makes a New Hope look like Kirby’s Adventure.

@@chipreid873 Yeah, Inside the Sandcrawler is the hardest level in the game for me. Empire Strikes Back is so hard I can't even beat it on Brave mode, let alone Jedi mode, and that's because of the 2D snowspeeder section where Luke has to shoot jetpack snowtroopers. I just can't avoid them enough to destroy them before dying. Return of the Jedi is much more manageable than Empire.

@@thatonegamer4937 Well, you’re a better man than me because I haven’t even gotten that far in Empire. I only play on brave mode. I think the problem with Empire is just poor game design. It relies on the same mechanic as a New Hope for the player to be successful. That means, don’t die so you can keep a good gun (like the plasma, for example) into the next level. That is difficult in A New Hope but manageable. The levels are way too hard not to die in Empire so you get stuck with the wimpy first blaster. There’s no way I’m going to reset the game and play through a level I died 20 times in to maybe bring a good blaster into the next level. I actually feel rewarded when I bring a good blaster into the next level in A New Hope. That’s what makes that game fun. In empire, it’s like not possible. Sorry for the long comment, but, I think I’m gonna give up on that game.

I want to say it's the same on the SNES as on other systems and arcade. You have to not lose a single round while having EXACTLY three perfect rounds. No more, no less all the way to the last character you are fighting. Just before the fight with the last character begins, the new challenger message should appear, indicating it worked. You don't have to fight the bonus character of whomever you're playing, but if you do, you must still not lose a round with them. For example, while playing as Sagat, Adon is an optional bonus character to fight against if you finished off 5 rounds with a super move of any level. You don't have to fight Adon, but you must not lose to him if you do.

Round 3 is indeed particularly difficult and took me awhile to beat him for the first time. He barely moves when you hit him, even with a shoulder charge. As such, you have to lure him as close to the edge as possible and look for an opportunity to safely hit him towards the wall for a single hit and then run away from the beast below and repeat. Obviously dodge him when he starts spinning out of control and focus on safely maneuvering back to the edge to hit him again.

I thought the Fireballs infinitely respawned. I didn't think there was an end to them.

I don't know about later consoles. I know it was on the Sega Dreamcast and PS1 as well, and those operated much faster as they were stronger consoles. I heard it was quite a feat to actually get it to run on the SNES as well as it does. They did have to make sacrifices like no Shin Akuma or Evil Ryu playability.

can definitely execute with the kong (pretty sure any of the big boys can do it)! mario and luigi im iffy on, but my guess is all can make it with juuust the right timing. hard though!

@staffaronifilms Yes, maybe with enough practice. If it’s possible, I don’t doubt the top players can do it!

I don't blame them. This is my least favorite level in the game, and the idea of swimming/jetpacking through sewage is not a pleasant feeling. Can you imagine how long the smell would be on you after all that? Heck, Dash had to have been smelling like that all the way through the end of the game!

Although, had to use brakes this time, so Luke was off his game a little this run.

Unfortunately, this is the only bonus level in the game unless you count the Beggar's Canyon, Death Star Trench Run, and Hoth levels. I really wish this game had a multiplayer mode, co-op and vs. If they remade this game like that, it would be an even bigger hit IMHO.

Thanks. I only knew of it thanks to GamePro Magazine that showed me the secret. Otherwise, I don't think I would have gotten past it at all. MAYBE once or twice in like 100 tries.
