Paul is my fav. Maiden singer. RIP. He brought the street vibe and energy. It felt real. No knock on Bruce. But for me, Bruce is a bit over the top and pushes his higher voice range to the point of exhaustion. Paul has a better sense of melody. Sure, Paul's voice can break and crack at the higher end and that just gives it this rawness and purity. Paul is what I call "Street Maiden" and Bruce is "Theatrical Maiden." Both are amazing, but I'm a Paul fan. And yes, look how young Eddie is on the debut cover! lol.

First time I saw Maiden was in '00 on the Brave New World Tour. I saw them recently in 2019 and they never disappoint. Paul Di'Anno is my fav. Maiden singer and it's always a thrill when they jam some tunes from Paul's era.

I agree. The Salem show felt poorly promoted. The lineup of bands were promising and it was nice to play on a huge stage like Nirvana did back in 1993, but this event could have been way more than presented. I can’t blame the bands too much for this.

Thanks for having me on today Nick! My train of thought can be tenuous, so I’ll fill in some blanks here in the comments. We also have the masterful Alden Zac on bass, who as you know is a very talented, high energy bass player. He has been in too many projects to mention and I would be remiss in failing to mention him here.

As someone who is no expert on metal by any means, this podcast has been so much fun to listen to over the past several weeks. Please keep this coming.

We've talked about that fantasy moment of Dave returning to Metallica. It'd be really cool and interesting. Dave's ego is wayyyy too big, however to realistically make this happen. When I met Dave I couldn't even fit in the room because his ego was so big. But I digress...I think the closest we got was the Big Four doing Am I Evil? in Europe and Dave joining Metallica (and others) at the Metallica 30th anniversary show. I personally would love it if Kirk goes back to Exodus and Dave returns to Metallica.

02:16 Oxygen Destroyer started in Seattle but only half the band are up here these days. Guitarist Joey Walker is still in the Seattle area, and Paul Wright (bass) is near Bremerton, Washington. Chris Craven (drummer) and Jordan (guitar/vox, aka Lord Kaiju) live in Portland. They're going on tour August 9-31 and will be at High Water Mark Lounge August 31. This was my first one and Vaulderie's first time in Portland (first show outside Washington, we're from Tacoma). It was an honor to be there with Kömmand. They got Vaulderie their first show ever, at Central Saloon opening for Ares Kingdom, so it was pretty poignant they got to share the bill for Kömmand's last show ever. Oxygen Destroyer, Kömmand and Vaulderie are a part of the Northwest Thrash Contingent btw, along with Toxic Reign and Ghostblood.
