Ok so about 2pm : yep Jay Park was the formally leader and seventh member of the 2PM. He leaves with a big controversy in the first year approximately 2pm and 2am were created originally in the group One Day and split into 2 groups with different concepts

The only problem I have with this video is the positioning of how he presented kpop history. When I first saw this video a while ago, it was hard for me to pinpoint what was off about it, because there are a lot of images and clips inserted which doesn’t match what he’s saying and also gives misinformation without having to say it out loud. So there’s too much to clarify/point out, but I’ll just focus on why 3rd Gen acts have had these opportunities to be on big US TV shows. It’s because of BTS. The fact it took years for armys to keep requesting English subtitles whenever BTS is on their show or do interviews before they finally include subtitles for BTS and then future Korean (and other non-english speaking) celebs without army having to request English subtitles for days/weeks/months every single time. It became easier for other kpop groups to make it on their shows. The reason why kpop categories were created by award shows, bc BTS was not going anywhere and they did not want BTS to be nominated or win MAIN awards (they only just want Americans and/or white people to win, because they could profit off of whatever form of payola they’ve been doing for years, which they can’t from BTS, who has always had that stance against chart manipulation even in Korea). BTS was increasingly gaining fans over the years despite the bullying/mistreatments for not being a Big 3 group that they exploded in the America in 2017 and still continually got bigger despite the xenophobic/racist attempts to prevent them from radio and furthering in the music industry that they the music/entertainment industry had no choice but to include/acknowledge them because they could not deny their increasing numbers/popularity. This is because BTS was already/always been global since the beginning, due to them utilizing social media platforms as their way of connecting with fans (which we all know reaches globally) and vlogging updates (posted by the members, not company) because they couldn’t get fair opportunities to be on TV shows to promote themselves bc they did not have the Big 3 privilege to get “invited” to most of them. The reason why a lot of 3rd Gen groups have Twitter accounts in the first place was because BTS won a Billboard award for Top Social artist in 2017. All these groups (or more like their agencies) signed up Twitter accounts for them so they can be in the running for social but that it can be beneficial/profitable. Korean media (big 3 has ties to them) had always deigned to acknowledge BTS achievements until they got recognized in the US, then they’re like oh yeah of course “kpop” is big. Media often replace BTS’ name with the word “kpop,” crediting it away from BTS but to kpop for their popularity. Both SK and US media do this, like they include everyone under kpop when it was BTS alone who got there (without supported from said industry) who alone contributed nearly $4 billion to the Korean economy back in 2018-2019. They literally took that data from BH report which I remember when it came out and then saw how it was reported by media that it was all due to kpop being big. But that’s how SM and YG have been marketing their groups, using media play, putting a narrative out there to blur the line that all their groups are the ones who did $4B. Anyway, this is my first time watching one of your videos I think. I only watched this because I haven’t seen this video in a long time.

I would recommend getting to know Twice as a 9 member group first! I love MISAMO since Sana is my ult bias, but seeing all 9 members just hits different! Maybe start from their newest comeback from February, with songs I GOT YOU (the pre-release English track) and ONE SPARK (the title track), and work your way down to their debut, with the song LIKE OOH-AHH (the title track)! Their are some pretty nice guide videos to know the members a lot better! To know more about the members themselves (their personalities and their positions in the group), A HELPFUL GUIDE TO TWICE 2024 by LikeOoh_Aah would be my recommendation! To know more about the group as a whole (achievements, their career, etc.), Who Is TWICE? (A Dive into the Living Legends) 2024 by Jaytzuu is the best at going through their 9 years as a group!
