Where is Joey the cowpolka King?
@@Showboat_Six Joey was an on again/off again member beginning in 1988 before becoming an official member in 1998. He was touring with other acts for most of the early 90s, hence his absence in a good chunck of this video.
Everyone
Being little
what a voice that Reba mc intyre happy holidays and an happy new year2025
Riders in the Sky's least-remembered replacement for Pee-Wee's Playhouse ran for only one season on CBS' Saturday morning schedule, and their radio sidekick, Sidemeat, was relieved the Riders would hook back up with him!
That just made my day. Thanx Reba.❤
I have loved these folks since the very first time I ever heard them! Check out their bios! All are classics
Trigger was such a beautiful horse...I remember reading about him and he and Roy formed a big partnership over the years they were together, and Roy was devastated when he died
What was this clip from?
The video coming Saturday!
@mikerotch145 Yay!!
I have a record with that song
Saw these guys 3 times & they were fabulous!!
Will always love this band
This was a TERRIFIC show!!! 😁
1:01 Why it makes me laugh? 😅
I'm a huge fan of Riders in the Sky and Hot Rize. I'd love to see the full episode of Austin City Limits from Season 12 in 1987. This episode features both bands and includes the production slate, countdown, voiceover, and credits.👍
Like I said in the other videos: I don't have the Hot Rize segment.
NEAT-O ! No good saying it isn't... 💋
I enjoyed this radio show. Thanks.
This song has haunted me for decades.
This is a segment from Austin City Limits Season 12, Episode 12, which aired in 1987. It features the country music group Riders in the Sky, and the bluegrass band Hot Rize.👍
The audience was utterly delighted with this performance, as am I.
Is this the end of riders in the sky?
I'd like to request that you upload the full episode of Austin City Limits from Season 12 in 1987. This episode featured Riders in the Sky performing cowboy music and Hot Rize performing bluegrass music on the Austin City Limits stage. The episode includes the Southwest Texas Public Broadcasting Council logo at the beginning, voiceover presenting Riders in the Sky and Hot Rize, Austin City Limits Season 12 intro and funding credits: Public Television Stations and Budweiser, closing credits with "London Homesick Blues" and the text reading "a production of The Southwest Texas Public Broadcasting Council (c) 1987", funding credits: Public Television Stations and Budweiser, Austin City Limits Book phone offer, and the 1984-1989 PBS logo at the end.👍
I don't have the Hot Rize segment, but all of the Riders performances from this show will be uploaded as individual clips. I'm really not interested in the official Austin City Limits channel (which is very much active) slapping me with a DMCA takedown if I post the whole episode.
Oh, how I miss the broadcasts of the radio show! They're part of my family's history and heart. Thanks, Mike.
Nice version😊
Im sorry,but this got butchered
When I was a kid, I always got so emotional during the end credits of this show. I'm not sure whether it was the "So Long Saddle Pals" song they sang at the end, or just that it meant the end of Saturday morning cartoons, and the beginning of Saturday afternoon chores? Perhaps it was a little of both.
My granddaughter LOVES this song
The Riders' live-action Saturday morning show, the least remembered replacement for Pee-Wee's Playhouse, ran for only one season! Most of the episodes, recorded on VHS, are seen on TH-cam!
@@christopherjudge1138 On this very channel!
Nice!....................................................
Thank you for uploading :)
Love it
These guys are fantastic. ❤
I had been to Riders in the Sky performances twice, a very entertaining and talented group. It is a shame that more of their shows were not recorded. Thanks for posting this.
the greats!
Love these guys, sing so smoothly…😊
Well done, fellow Riders! And Lester, great Ranger Doug yodel. This was my childhood here, Saddle Pals. In the words of Two Jaws, Ah, Ah! You guys are great. I really mean that.
Well done movie introduction, Ranger Doug! This is a rare find, Saddle Pals! Mike, I'm glad you're finding these wonderful Riders stuff. Please keep us posted on Christmas on the Prairie.
("Christmas The Cowboy Way", but I knew what you meant) Believe me, I keep looking. It's hard to pin down since it gets mixed in with the album of the same name, but I'm always vigilant!
@@mikerotch145 thank you, Mike. :) With the holidays coming around the corner, I sure can use a cowboy style Christmas.
Release history: 9/14/91-9/12/92 CBS
Love Riders In The Sky! Thanks for all the great songs that always put a smile on my face. My son still has his cac-tie; he hasn't worn it since my sister's wedding, he's waiting for the "right moment".
Old men look ridiculous riding around in a convertible, give that thing to some young girl, so she can drive you around to your doctors appointments.
A country band that has appeared on both Disney (Toy Story 2 - Woody's Roundup theme) and Warner Bros. cartoons (this song here). Quite a novelty actually.
@@rmkw4291 The Sons of The Pioneers beat them to that honor some decades prior. They were in a Porky Pig (or perhaps another Looney Tune) short and then Disney's Pecos Bill.
Name
Name what?
I recall watching this series on CBS on Saturday Mornings during 1991-92, first airing on the 8:00-8:30 a.m. half-hour timeslot for 2 weeks. At times, it would be pre-empted by Soul Train on my local CBS affiliate in my area. By winter 1991-92, the show moved to the 12:30-1:00 pm half-hour timeslot on Saturday afternoons at the end of Saturday Morning schedule. It would air right after reruns of Inspector Gadget. Then in mid 1992, it moved to 7:30 a.m.
Ok
If there ever was a national treasure in Western music…
I can't help but notice that Woody Paul, Ranger Doug and Too Slim are the members in Riders in the Sky who can sing a solo verse Is there one song where Joey the Cowpolka King sang a part solo?
@@matthewweikert20 Not that I know of.
@@mikerotch145 oh Well, I was just curious
like video
Haha! This is amazing. You should actually get AI to do it. 1-800-nowimps ! ha!
I actually looked into it right about the time I posted this clip... but unfortunately I lack the brain power to figure all of it out to get it to work...
This is real country music. I don’t know about the stuff that’s playing today or has been for the last 20 years aside from a few exceptions, but you really can’t get genuine country music unless you listen to little known musicians that barely have any exposure that they deserve. I don’t really think I would’ve heard of these guys if it weren’t for Toy Story 2 so props to Pixar forexpandingtheir audience.
