Elora by splitkb REVIEW - Pinky stagger for the win with NO SOLDERING
The Elora keyboard from splitkb.com is a unique keyboard in the sense that it is a hobby-style keyboard ... but one that does not require you to do any soldering! All you need is a skrewdriver. The board is also easily expandable and when combined with tilts you also get 5 keys per thumb that are very easy to press.
In short, this board has a lot going for it.

Moonlander REVIEW - Amazing Macropad, OK keyboard

Low profile switches go a long way to getting your fingers closer go the board. It lessens the wrist rest demand. Especially for tall keycaps like yours, or my MT3 profile. They are not swap in compatible, but gateron moss low profile tactile switches are really nice.

Thanks very much for the review. I've had the keyboard for about a month and really enjoy it - it's done wonders for my RSI. However, for the last 3 days, some keys will "stick". For example, I'll be typing and suddenly my document will read "ggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg". Or the backspace will stick and delete continually. The physical key does not seem to be actually stuck in a pressed position when it happens, and the keys that do it are not always the same. Has anyone else had this happen?

Really great reviews! Currently trying to figure out what ergo mech keyboard to get - I've budgeted enough for one and I think it's a worthwhile investment, but it is a lot of money - So I've been pretty obssessive about researching them. Stuck between the moonlander + tenting kit, or the voyager. Kind of in decision paralysis. I know it's all so subjective and personal - And at the end of the day only I can really make the most educated purchase for myself - But, if you read this: What would you suggest for someone who can't afford to "make the wrong purchase." - Or, I guess, what would you say is the "safest" buy between the moonlander and voyager? I am a typing enthusiast, I am a programmer, I'm ready to learn and struggle for a while with a new layout and thumb clusters - I love keyboards and typing - I'm mainly doing this for my health (preventing RSI and general typing fatigue), but also just for a new toy.

      @calmcode-io 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

One thing to remember is that you can always buy second hand and you can always sell second hand. I have bought a lot of keyboards, but I also sell a bunch of them. They do go down in value a bit, but its certainly not money that is thrown away. I personally much prefer the voyager, but I think I will need to start making some comparison videos to help point out the key differences that can help make the purchasing decision. If you are doing this for your health though, please consult a medical specialist and ensure that you take plenty of breaks and invest in better typing habbits. In the end, the board is just a tool, the habbits around the tool might matter more.

Switching to a non-staggered layout and going from Qwerty to Colemak-DH was a lot to get used to but my wrists have not complained since. While it’s certainly expensive, including swapping key-switches, what I got was a rock-solid keyboard and awesome software to tune it exactly to my preferences. If you pair it with "The platform" the tilt for the thumb cluster becomes much more comfortable, there are 3rd party 3d printable replacements as well. I used this keyboard as travel keyboard to go to the office for a couple of months, I ended up "fixing it" at home with the platform and a specific angle. For the office I switched to the Keychron Q8 Max Totally agree on the macro side, if I remember correctly it supports 64 layers. One big selling point for me was the possibility to have custom symbol layers. I am trying out the Glorious Engrammer symbol layer to take most advantage of this. Custom layers is not too common in ergonomic keyboards

A lot of this is *really* personal. I would say that the Lily58 really needs a palmrest for me to be comfortable, though if you get one with choc switches it might be fine. If you really suffer from pain, the Glove80 is the state of the art. But I have also find that the Voyager with tenting also keeps the pain at bay. It does not make the pain go away like the Glove does but it does keep it at bay. Please check in with a medical professional as well, a lot of this stuff is personal and might benefit from a specialists' advice.

This keyboard missed a trick by not looking at the Razer Tartarus or similar gaming keypads. The thumbcluster there is a somewhat vertically angled 4-way hat (much like found on joysticks or HOTAS peripherals), which is much more easily to manipulate than separate keys laid out on a single plane. With the space key being on the horizontal plane. Having a thumb module, with either a (4-, 5- or 7-way) hat* switch as the multi-function modifier, an analog mini stick (usable as a mouse cursor) or thumb trackball would be the holy grail, I feel. * 4-way is 4 different buttons, depending on the cardinal direction of the press. * 5-way is a 4-way, plus a center depress. * 7-way is a 5-way, with the hat being a left/right scrollable encoder as well. Often found on sim racing wheels and called a “Funky” switch.

I think it will happen sooner than later because the scene is becoming very competitive very quickly. If it will or won’t be Wooting that does it is the question. I’m not sure if it’s in their best intrest but I hope they will. Along with other companies, they’re literally at the foot of the mountain of what a keyboard can be. The potential really is endless. I think of mechanical and analog switches like 2 and 3 dimensional. Two dimensional (mechanical) switch: State (on/off) and time (how long a key is pressed and time between presses). Three dimensional (analog) switch: State (on/off), time (how long a key is pressed and time between presses) and depth (how far down a key is pressed). There’s so much you can do with time and depth, it’s very exiting. 😁

I really wish to have the additional thumb button for K15 Pro like in K11, but I need a separate layer of Fn keys so had to sacrifice that button :( So Keychron please update the layout for K15!!

Yeah, that extra button can be hugely beneficial.

This was a great review. Thank you for tbe level of detail in it. I'm not terribly tech savvy but I'm also savvy enough to mess with things to an extent, and your video gave me more confidence that I could work with this. I've been doing research into split ergo keyboards deciding which one to get and this one might've sold me on the Glove 80. Much appreciated once again.

Happy to hear it! And yeah, one of the reasons for me to start this channel is to show folks what the configuration, which a lot of the YT reviews seem to miss. That said, happy to hear you found it useful. (This message was typed on the Glove80 by the way)

Nice review, very comprehensive. I have a zsa voyager but I'm looking for a more traditional layout, so I can swap easily between split and non-split keyboards. In your opinion which one would you buy, NocFree or Keychron Q11? Thanks

I think the NocFree is a way better deal than the Q11 because the configuration software is better and so are the palmpads/tenting options.

Loved it. Im data scientist, and computer vision researcher. I hate using js, css and html. Im 100% gonna try it. Maybe i could just use to render video

You can use Dynamic Keystroke to add '(' and ')'. Just add a key with DKS, first key shift, next key 8 - and activate them both in the first column (my case 2mm). Then the key will work as if the shift modifier is held. You can add up to 4 keys that way (sample profile code: f370e4a134ef5fe2a5e8368a9ddb1085768e)
