My cover of Going steady by Death from above! Also the first time doing a vocal cover. Running a Gretsch short scale bass through some old Royal blood presets I made but also adding a fuzz pedal to make it gnarly. How to make a song sound THICC (with 2 C's) - Feat. Hardus Laubscher

A video showing how we layer a song to make it sound modern and chunky. Lover is a demo song by Royal Blood that never made it onto their discography. Humbuckers VS Single coils (an idiot's perspective)

Well done bud, so happy to see you having a blast! Keep the updates coming!
The best? 😔
Really cool video! Good to see you're enjoying it, plus I learn a thing or two about how guitars are made
Love u bru❤
Knowing how stressed and busy you were the last while it's really nice seeing you working on something you enjoy so much🖤 Can't wait to see when it's done
🔥🔥🔥
Do you have tabs for it?
Unfortunately not, did it all by ear in a day
sick tone! what are you using for the fuzziness?
@@void_snw got a custom distortion from a friend called Highway fuzz. It's violent as hell, have everything turned down and it's still gnarly
@@rgmetal Sounds awesome man. Can't find anything about it or something like it either, any chance to get a look inside or know what it's based on?
It's a handmade pedal by a friend in South Africa, you're not gonna find anything 😂
Man, what an absolutely amazing cover! You've obviously worked hard to get this take, so it's soooo well deserved! Keep it up my friend!🤘
Bravissimo!
I had no idea they released a new song! Sick cover🔥
Beautiful tone and playing. The thickness and rigid notes can only be replicated with the bass - I play their stuff on a 6str guitar and the heavy notes are too 'wobbly' to sound good. Well done!
10min playing 30min editing lol. Not a bad thing good way to make it interesting to watch way more lively than others i see which i really like :D
@@FuriousFire898 more like one hour getting used to the weird structure
@@rgmetal As a beginner bassist what are my chances?
Really well done cover and this song is sick!
Can we get FPL?
Share the tabs
DUDE this is so so good! more HEALTH covers please!
Getting mine soon, btw that color is super rare in my area. It's not my favorite color, but I hate the green color lol
This amazing
Nice video! Was pleasantly surprised to hear Cleopatrick's Good Grief, such a simple yet groovy song. I have a similiar tone addiction since hearing Death From Above 1979 and later Royal Blood for the first time, haha. Even built a similiar pedalbord back in the day, but eventually sold every pedal and bought Line6 Helix LT. Man, it works perfectly for such tones. Also you can detune your bass/guitar low with pitch effects. I mean really L̷̬͇̈̈́Ŏ̵͚̇̀̒W̴̮̮͓̿͌̐. Try messing around with Helix Native plugin next time to get your RB tone. I made some covers of Cleopatrick and Royal Blood using it, they're on my channel in case you're curious to hear the tone in action. Btw, your cover of Going Steady is INSANELY GOOD, subscribed!🔥🔥🔥
Thanks, I've been looking at a helix but am too broke lol. the setup has gotten some upgrades since then b, will check your stuff too!
Sounds like Blood.
Haha guess that's a perfect description
Holy shit this is heavy! <3
Never gets old
I your 200th SUB!!! Thank you and your very welcome!
Let's gooooooi
Great review! And awesome playing🤘
Thanks bro👌🏼
So cool
The stank face the entire song is what gets me. Awesome cover bro!
If there's no stank are you really a metalhead?
Was very surprised to hear good grief
Forgot I even did that😂
Nice to see my video appearing at a glance on your video, LOL. Congrats for the video!
Ha thanks. I saw your vids right after I posted, my boards got some nice improvements since. Added a ABY line selector and an eq
@@rgmetal Great to hear!
This was awesome bebe❤
Spot on 🤘🤘
This is powerful🤘
You are powerful😤
Awesome man!
I just got this same model of guitar and wondered how you kept it tuned to f# so well cause when I do it it tends to not want to stay in tune
Simple, get a massive 64 gauge or thicker😂
Makes sense thanks!@@rgmetal
Loved it!
Nice shirt ;)
La mezcla del audio es buenísima, solo en partes no se logran distinguir bien los acordes.. falta definirla un poco mas a esa guitarra para que se pueda apreciar mejor ... igual es cover y edición de vídeo son muy buenos <3
Gotta channel your inner James Hatfield to play this song.
😂🤍 this legend !
great cover!
Man can I ask what you used for the tone? Really tight sounding
Otto audio 11 11 11. I just listened to a bunch of other covers to see if I could get close
If you get the GCA Plasma Pedal, that makes a huge difference. I use it in my “Royal Blood”-esque rig and I can emulate their sound pretty well. Also the Walrus Audio Luminary gives a more natural octave tone.
I'll look into that plasma pedal👌🏼 my tone is still a bit harsh in my opinion but it's my first week putting it all together. Only gonna get better from here🤟🏼
Hey bro, I just need a solution, I am an acoustic player and I know basic stuff, basic chords and I want to learn more in terms of music theory and scales etc, should I directly buy a 7 string as I see a lot of metalcore, but I think I should get a 6 string electric, pls LMK what you think!
I think the jump from acoustic to 7 is a bit rough. If you really love modern metalcore and you know that's all you're gonna play then you could probably get a 7, but if you still just wanna learn scales and learn the instrument better then maybe just start with 6
@@rgmetal thank you so much, and the cover is amazing BTW;)
@rgmetal also should I get the Floyd rose tremolo version or a standard, what would be the primary difference?
@@d3lchan if you're gonna djent and only do rhythm then don't even bother with a floyed or any floating bridge for that matter😂 but if you like older metal or love playing lead guitar then sure. A floyed isn't easy to restring or set up so if you're not experienced doing it yourself then rather get a simpler floating bridge system. I think the biggest thing is the way you play. If you play aggressive and pick hard like me then you'll hate a floating bridge but if you play delicately then that's the type of style for a floyed.
💦 *Promo sm*
brooooooooooo. why is your voice panned all the way to the right. that is so freaking jarring lol
Bs settings in davinchi resolve, only solved the problem later🫠
... Are you gonna be mad if I do a vocal cover with your track for the instrumental? that was fucking amazing
Please do hell ya🤟🏼
@@rgmetal is there an mp3 or better version somewhere or am I ripping it off of TH-cam lol
you missed the triplets in the Intro and PreChorus :D
Better than any other cover I've seen. You actually play the main riff right! I wish you played the octave part during the climax at the end though!
Well done.... its not exactly right but..... ...pretty damn close. 😎🤘😈
That main riff is just so satisfying. Nice job!
It's pretty fun not gonna lie
Get it dude
