What an incredibly wonderful "first effort" Mr. Ryan! Catchy tune, great guitar skills, command of your voice, holding notes, smiling and laughing... and a story to tell, which I suppose is aimed at a particular person? Or two? Well done! and if you're giving me any credit for jumpstarting you into action, I'll take it!! Thanks for sending it my way! Note: ha, when I first started recording way back when, I too would shoot in "the dark"... perhaps I was self-conscious and wanted to hide somewhat... I don't know... But now I usually have light pouring in a window hitting me on the side, and it's a nice effect, and gives folks a chance to watch me sing... Of course I've also moved on to a wonderful Shure microphone (300 bucks) and a Zoom R8 small recording console (also 300 bucks), and the stands and cables that come along with all that. But I applaud (standing) your first effort and encourage you to keep on keeping on! Amen!
