IS THE ASROCK RX 5700 XT STILL GOOD IN 2024?!
In this video, I’m putting the RX 5700 XT to the ultimate test in 2024! Known as a top budget GPU for 1440p gaming back in 2019, the RX 5700 XT was a game-changer-but can it still hold up five years later? After my GTX 1660 finally gave out, I chose this 5-year-old card for my $200 budget rebuild. Today, we’re running it through popular games like Starfield, NBA 2K24, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora to see how it handles today’s demanding graphics. With benchmarks on high and medium settings, we’ll see if the RX 5700 XT can keep up with modern gaming, especially at 1440p. I’m running this setup with a Ryzen 5 2600 CPU, which might bottleneck the RX 5700 XT in some games, so stay tuned for possible upgrades in the future. Whether you're considering a budget GPU upgrade or are just curious about how this old powerhouse performs in 2024, you’re in the right place.

The fact that you can pick these up for around $130-$160 just goes to show how far a "budget" build can go. The last time i built a "budget" PC it had a G3258 _[Pentium K]_ and a 750ti with 1gb of vram
Thermal-protection...ENGAGED.
Everything runs nice and cool now. At first everything was way over the limits but now my PC is like an air conditioner.
Dam bro that's crazy. My PC hasn't given me any problems like that yet😬
You're lucky if you haven't got any problems yet
You 100% need that Ryzen 5 5600X. You should rebenchmark after the CPU upgrade then compare both builds. Would make a great video or two 👏
Yes I definitely will! Thanks for the ideas. I didn't even think about doing that
Fps won't drop as low with a 5600X. You should definitely get it
Yeah I'm planning on getting it
I never realized how good the ASRock RX 5700 XT actually looks
I love the way it looks.
BSODs are the worst. My PC had some a few times and I was scared for my life. One of my RAM slots ended up burning out. The pins on one of my RAM sticks were black.
How'd that happen?
Those fps numbers are really good. They would definitely improve and be more stable with a Ryzen 5 5600X
That's what everyone keeps telling me
At least you figured it out in the end
It was horrible but you're right at least I fixed it
you got the new 5 years old card???!!
Yep and it works like a dream for being originally released in 2019
I can not make first project in unreal engine because i hace issue epic game launcher, idk is about my cpu gen 13 or problem in ue5
What specific CPU do you have?
I've been through a PC disaster far worse than this. My first ever DIY system built by my youngest brother, was an Athlon X2 265, 8GB of DDR3, and a Radeon HD 6570 back in 2011. It served me for about six years, during which I had to give up a 4GB stick of ram to my younger brother because his system's ram borked itself. Then sometime in spring 2017, the power supply died with a distinct 'pop!' Screen went black at the same time. That power supply took my CPU, motherboard, GPU, hard drive, and my optical drive with it. The only thing that survived at all, was the ram I had left in my system.
That sounds super awful. That PSU basically fried your whole system. Did you end up fixing it?
@@LA_Electronics Unfortunately, no. I lost everything. Had to have an entirely new system built.
Dam that sucks. I had a feeling you would have to build a new system. I can't even imagine my entire PC dying right now. I'd be completely screwed
@@LA_Electronics Yeah, it was bad. I was back up shortly after though, with a Ryzen 3 1200, 8GB of DDR4 and an RX 550. Then I slowly upgraded to what I have now. A Ryzen 7 5700X, 32GB of DDR4, and a GTX 1660 Ti.
That's awesome I'm glad to hear you got back up and running quickly. Right now I have a Ryzen 5 2600, RX 5700XT, and 16 GB of DDR4. I used to have 32 GB of DDR4. I'm also looking at getting a Ryzen 5 5600X
Glad to see you fixed it and your back💪💯. RX 5700 XT is still a good GPU.
8-12 hours to test your RAM is insane😳. I would lost it halfway through 😂😭
After the first RAM stick finished I ended playing BO6 on my Xbox while I waited
The new PC build is looking great. Much more spacious 👏
It's 100% more spacious and it runs nice and cool now
Fuck it ima buy it 😂. I want the razer wolverine v3 pro because its 1000hz but i dont care anymore. I really need a controller that can go to pc and console easy . None can
I can switch my Elite Series 2 between my Xbox and PC in the time it takes my Xbox to turn on
I am left wondering if the most powerful version would work for a pc standalone headset like the valve deckard
That's true I actually never thought about that. Plus I forgot about the Valve Deckard. Hopefully we get more information on it soon
lol too bad you cant buy the thunderbolt 5 card anywhere. i spent 2 hrs looking for it no luck. no idea where you got it from lol.
There is no way you spent 2 hours searching. Stop the cap. It's literally on Gigabyte's official website. Just Google Gigabyte Thunderbolt 5 Card and the first link that pops up is to Gigabyte's official website that has it listed. It also tells you where to buy it. It's not available online yet.
Seems like AMD has a lot planned for CES
If this leak turns out true then yeah they do
AMD this AMD that 🤣. The leakers are riding AMDs 🐓
Nah nbs. You can say I am too😂
Me doing a bios update and seeing x3d turbo in the patch notes and coming here.
Yessir💪. I love to hear that! Be sure to subscribe and ring that bell so you're always up to date on the latest PC Tech news & leaks
ASUS also has this exact same AGESA code now………
Yeah I saw that on a post on X
Core 2 elite better
It's the same thing just with no accessories
marginally better....
I didn't know 35% was marginally or slightly better 🤣
@@LA_Electronics ‘Maximum’ doesn’t mean average. Would be 15% at most if that leak is even true.
@@LA_Electronics ‘Maximum’ doesn’t mean average. Would be 15% at most if that leak is even true.
It scored 35% better. That could be the average number. Nobody said it was the maximum
Yeah this is clickbait. It's a marginal improvement, literally mirrors the difference between the 5800 and 7800 x3d chip differences. It's also from one source who is probably using a prototype (that can always boost higher than the consumer model for testing purposes).
That's why it's a leaked benchmark so you believe what you want. It's definitely not click bait though. Thanks for watching anyway. Don't forget to subscribe and ring that bell so you don't miss out
@@LA_Electronics It's not horrible misleading clickbait, just super dramatic and over exxagerating . . . old fashioned clickbait I guess You cant say "DOMINATES" when it's a couple hundred mhz of improvement. You could say "DOMINATES INTEL" and it would be 100% accurate.
I can say "DOMINATES" because it makes the video more clickable. So I guess yeah it is clickbait. That word just triggers me because everyone uses it so loosely now and it's annoying
@@LA_Electronics yeah but it's kinda misleading, it's not a huge leap in performance for a test chip the 7800x3d comsumer chip tops out at 5 ghz but the test chips could hit 5.4-5-5 . . . they make a bunch of those models to figure out the performance/reliability ratio you might get more clicks in the short term but alot less watchtime and more people perma-blocking your channel "The 9800X3D Threadripper" would be a good title imo
Ok thanks for the advice. I'll try to not make my titles as misleading and clickbait as this one
Ryzen has been killing the game lately. They are literally trying to take over
I know I was just saying it seems like literally every single leak and article is just about AMD and Ryzen right now
They've definitely taken over the gaming market and made progress in every other market. Next, I want to see them really take it to nvidia with Radeon.
Give it a couple more years and Radeon will catch up and probably pass Nvidia
I really hope Intel starts actually doing good stuff. Competition is healthy for the consumers. I don't want another domination set as we saw with intel dominate AMD til ryzen appeared cause AMD was just releasing crap chips.
Yeah. It seems like literally every single leak and article is just about AMD and Ryzen right now.
@@LA_Electronics I mean I used to be a die hard red team until I made the mistake of buying FX (not even piledriver. It was the first iteration of bulldozer which we all know how it went) and I switched to Intel for the next rig. When Ryzen came out I built a system for my brother on it. This lack of competition sucks a lot, especially for me as I play WoW 99% of the time and it's pretty much mandatory to have a X3D for the game.
Right now I have a Ryzen 5 in my rig and it's pretty good. Since I'm doing TH-cam now I was thinking of building my new rig with an Intel CPU but then all the Raptor Lake stuff happened and now I don't know what to do. I'm scared to get Arrow Lake but then I don't know if I should wait for the 9000X3Ds to release
@@LA_Electronics Honesltly? I’d wait and see what steve from gamer nexus has ti say about it. He’s one of the most reliable ones out there. Sadly we’ve been seing bad moves on launch on the last gens of cpus both intel and AMD. Intel well we know and then AMD had tons of RAM problem stability. To be honest I’d rather wait a few more months just in case so if there’s a problem at least bios can solve it provided they move fast.
Yeah you're right. I am going to wait at least until next year so I can read all the reviews first on Intel's and AMD's new chips
AMD 9000 cpus aren't too expensive. There just isn't a market for them. Everyone in the single purchase consumer market wants to play video games. people who use productivity based chips buy premade computers. AMD is only just started to leak into prebuilts in the workplace AMD just didn't know their market.before the 5800x3d nobody knew that chip was going to change everytrhing so they bought 5950x and 5900x etc. they would have waited for 5800x3d if they knew how much better it played games
Nah they really aren't that expensive but you're right there really isn't a market for them.
Literally returned my 7800x3d yesterday so that i can pre-order the 9800x3d instead, after waiting 3 weeks for my 7800x3d to be finally delivered 2 days ago lmaoo
Where do i pre-order
@@civerone9795 You cant yet, pre-orders open tomorrow from what i heard
Apparently AMD is supposed to officially reveal the new 9000X3D CPUs tomorrow. Rumors suggest they have an event planned for tomorrow.
@@LA_Electronics Rumors werent true :(
Sadly they weren't true but that's what happens with rumors some are true and some are false. That's why I tell people to believe what they want
Intel laying off workers now thanks to AMD we can lay off Intel too! THANKS AMD!
Thank you AMD! 😁
Have a 7950X3D and a Gigabyte 600 board...Hmmm. Am going in!
Update?
I think your price guesses are bullshit Moores law aleady reported expected prices based on internal discussions you almost added extra 200 out of thin air
Ok so go watch Moore's Law then. That's why it's a price guess because obviously I don't have the internal discussions to make a closer number. If I did I would have mentioned them and made a closer price guess
I can't wait for the overclockers to get their hands on the Ryzen 7 9800X3D
Me too. I want to see it pushed to it's absolute limit
At least this guy isn't an AI voice
We don't do AI voices around here. I'm not lazy like the other TH-camrs
But he can't pronounce DRAM.
1.) Everyone says words differently. Where I'm from that's how I hear it. 2.) You obviously knew what I was talking about so what's the issue? 3.) You want me to say D RAM separately and not DRAM? 🤣Again you still knew what I was talking about. I guess it's just something for you to complain about. 4.) Thanks for watching and don't forget to smash that like button. Also subscribe and turn on notifications so you never miss a video.
AMD slowly but surely becoming the GOAT.
I know right. They're slowly taking over the CPU market
NOV 7 IS THE RELEASE DATE ITS BEEN ANOUNCED
I know. I have a video going up soon talking about it
Buy intel people, they solved the 13/14th gen issues
I don't know if that's enough to bring people back. Arrow Lake has to be good
@@LA_Electronics ik, im just trying to gaslight at least myself into think intel isnt dead, did u see the recent layoffs 😬
Yeah I saw the layoffs. Intel better know what they are doing. If they pull a Raptor Lake move again it's gonna be scary for them
why pepole tallk no sense like fry the cpu.. this update does not incresse voltage, does not increase consumption, does not change thr frequencies it basicly only completely eliminates ccd during games because there is a delay create between ccds, there is a drop in performance with this update it dynqmicqlly thr activites and deqctivates ccd base on consumer usage. as result there is a boost in graphic perfromances only. mean 7950x with this update can gives higher performance than 7950x3d that run without the update, while 7950x3d with the update it gives higher performances than both its all a marketing trick there is an improvement in performance but there are also bugs like r23 only ccd1 works and as result the score drops to 11k for 9900x cpu and the situation is the same with the 7950x3d that i tested that mean productivity will get inferior perfromance while gaming in most cases will get huge performances improvement 7950x3d get with 1 ccd same performances as 7800x3d in gaming, basicly 1:1 with this update
a way to sell motherboard just before a new cpu release, as they don't say anything about how they do, so for the moment i think it's pure scam that will sell to people that are not able to control themselves about compulsive buying... and it's exactly like all the false rumors usually spread by youtubers and other so called hardware reviewers against amd when new nvidia gpu are going to be released .. it was the case for at least the 2 last gpu generations release..
its works even for 7000 for only +2ccds cpus and this update even for a620/b650/x670/x670e basicly by test it over 7950x3d im getting 1:1 performance as my 7800x3d this update instead drop non qctivity core to ide it turn off completely ccd and leave the x3d one only active while the cores getting lower lentqncy u getting lower temp and higher core base because that
This is not gigabyte feature but amd and most probably will be available on other motherboards too.
Gonna fry my 9700x 😂
🤣 It's gonna melt my entire PC
@@LA_Electronics i just flashed my bios last night building a new pc and when I woke up this morning I see the turbo released while I was sleeping lol
I have turbo mode turned off because I know my PC can't handle it.
Waiting for other peoples results of the 9800X3D. Then if positive, I will buy the 9950X3D on day one on release.
So far it is looking pretty good but everything consists mainly of leaks and rumors so you're making a good decision to wait
You don't need a 600+$ cpu TO PLAY GAMES. Put that money in a better GPU.
I agree. I wouldn't spend $600+ on a CPU.
It shows that a large amount of pc gamers…. Have no clue of what they are doing.
Yeah exactly. A lot of them think you need a super powerful CPU to game. Gaming mainly comes down to the GPU. I got a Ryzen 5 in my PC that handles what I need but what I do need is a new GPU. My crap 1660 ain't cutting it no more
Yep, AsRock for me on this build - pre-ordered 2nd day that they were available after checking out all the boards stats.. I like the Asrock NOVA and it's options 6) M.2 SSDs, all the other great options as well... Most of my builds from 1994 have been Asus, but they have over priced their boards out of line this round.. Even the TUF board is way over priced.. I was hoping that the ROG Strix Z890-F (not released yet either) was priced right, but since it's not, good bye Asus.. 2 more days until ship date.. You guys ready for computer building... Be sure to download all the updated bios, and drivers before starting your build, and save to an USB drive to get you set up...
I'm looking to build a new PC but I'm waiting for everything to release and get some real world tests first. Plus I'm broke AF 🤣😭
this apu would be the best hardware for linux 😁 9800x3d is in r23 numbers double of my 6core apu,so for me its fail! but for you guys op 😂 my apu is nearly 3 years old and costs a 4-5th of the price of the 9800x3d and at games... time will tell... if it gives any linux gamers with the 9800x3d, for me its nearly useless ill wait for the strix halo berserker apus :D
The Ryzen AI Max is going to be a crazy powerful APU
If X3D turbo can make a Ryzen 9000 achieve the same performance as a Ryzen 9000X3D then what would be the point of even buying any X3D model. Also that would be insane and Gigabyte stop the cap
AMD might as well quit making X3D models at this point 🤣
35% performance boost for X3D chips is likely going to be more than 20% performance boost on non-X3D chip. As the non-X3D ones are usually worse for gaming too.
Gonna fry my 9700x lol😂
@@solidsnake5051 the boost only works for cpu with 2ccd and more the update basicly turn off ccd1 while ccd0 still active base the driver control (game bar) mean 7950x3d act as 7800x3d 9900x will over performances 7950x3d that run without the bios update but worst on 7950x3d who run this update
I really want a 5090. Tech is my short term goal. I have plans and goals which I work towards like school and financial stuff. But I need something fun. For me that’s blowing like $2000-$2500 on a graphics card 😂
I'm trying to blow at least $1,500 on a new GPU but I'm way too broke for that🤣😭. I really want a RTX 50 series but I need to build a new PC first
I just got one from Walmart’s website for $115
They are very cheap now and they are becoming more readily available
Yes Nvidia make a more expensive 5070 Super that's what everyone wants. It should be at least 20GB then maybe it would be worth it
Tbh I say higher than 20GB. Maybe like a 24GB model then I might actually pay 800 for it
I think I agree with a 24GB model especially if it's going to be $800
@@LA_Electronics 5070 no way will be 24GB... That is an unnecessary amount... 24GB will be preserved for the more premium models and idek if the 5080 will have that much. The only reason why the 4090 had so much was due to its AI use.
Yeah you're right 24GB would be too much. Maybe a 5070 TI Super would be 24GB. Unless the 5070 Super gets used for AI too.
@LA_Electronics its speculated the 5080 won't be better than the 4090 because of America's restrictions on exporting GPU's to China. Knowing nvidia they will only make a 5090D and no 5080D. Don't expect too much with this generation. Only the 5090 will be an actual upgrade. These are just speculations we have to wait for the official announcement
AMD ain't even gonna give nobody time to use Arrow Lake. Everyone will just buy a 9800X3D for gaming
Pretty much. All the PC gamers will just disregard Arrow Lake
@@LA_Electronics As they should, Arrow Lake has already been proven to be slower than Raptor Lake Refresh for gaming. With the proper EKG Delta TEC 2 Quantum custom loop water cooling solution, the 14900KS is faster in gaming, but slower than the 7800X3D. Bottom line: 9800X3D and 9950X3D (Dual 3D-VCache on BOTH CCD'S!) will dominate gaming, cannot go wrong with an RTX 5090 combination with either a 9800X3D or 9950X3D. Unless Intel makes a Core Ultra 9 295K (KS) variant and its way faster than the 285K.
I agree 100%. I know with my new PC build I will completely skip Arrow Lake. Ryzen will always be the best for gaming
Cant trust Intel after the recent debacle
As a gamer and creator I have always been with Intel. I have a 12900k. I planned on upgrading to the 14900k. But those cpu have major problems. Intel screwed me. I am waiting for the 9950X3D.
