Uttarakhand Legends | Chhaan | The Transit Shed
Chhaan or Chhaani is an Uttarakhandi term for highland (Daanda) transit shed where the individual/family from the nearby village down the slopes would stay for a brief period of time, mostly along with their cattle or to look after the crops sown. Chhaan is usually stocked with ample amount of food and buttermilk.

Dagdyaa, an Uttarakhandi term for 'companion', the true caring friend be it human or animal. Featured in this video is an elderly couple with their beloved cattle. The duo bring the cattle under the summer sun from the cattle-shed at home down to the self-made pond fed by the nearby small stream. The affection speaks for itself, amidst the silence of the mountains.

Video dekhne aur apni raaye ke liye aapka dhanywaad. Jaisa ki aap jante honge ki Mahasu devta bhagwaan Shiv ka ek roop hai. Shive ji ke saath unke gann/bir bhi hote they. Wahaan ke bujurg ye mante hain ki Pokho devta unn gano me se ek rahe honge.

Watching hundreds of migration videos and now this "reverse migration", it just felt a lot better!! Thank you for making this series. 🙏 The series was great but it was Mussoorie-specific, you should cover other towns of Uttrakhand as well, first, it will help youths to relate more from different hometowns, and second, we'll get to know different stories which will give more clarity and ideas.
