It’s on an auction. The auctioneer starts with a price and lowers it until you or someone else decides to start bidding on it. You bid on it against other buyers until someone is the last bid and nobody wants to pay any more money for it. As long as the seller didn’t put a reserve on the item the highest bidder wins and has bought the item. If there is a reserve the final bid has to go at or above the reserve price to sell. If it doesn’t the seller keeps the item and nobody wins and gets to take the item home.
