A trip through the Norfolk countryside visiting the churches and pubs of four small villages close to the A47 near Dereham. Having found that the A47 between Norwich and King's Lynn have few if any watering holes for the entire length we investigate beyond the beaten path in Mid-Norfolk and are surprised at what we find. Once the capital of Saxon England under Alfred the Great, today the city contains many historic medieval buildings that make this a highly recommended destination for history lovers. The Norman Cathedral , Great Hall and Wolvesey Castle are among many highlights we discovered in what is now one of my favourite cities in England.

Yes it's a terrific place. The ancient capital of Wessex and there are numerous historic buildings from Medieval onwards including some we didn't have time to visit.
Couldn’t hear what the guy was saying for the music!
My Grandmother left there i. 1918 for the Unites States. My cousin and. I were booked to visit there and the trip was cancelled due to the pandemic.

Truro cathedral is famous for its three spires.

you forgot to go to the best place in st ives and that was the lifeboat station ,if ever in need they are always ready to save lives ,did you notice the empty habitats and premises ,and lack of local folk, ,yep a lovely place ruined by outsiders/holiday makers buying up all the properties for 1/2 week holidays in a year .winter months are desolate down here .views fantastic though but nothing like it used to be from 1940,s to 1980,s,,glad you enjoyed your day out though .dont forget to visit some of the old tin mines and other heritage centres and especially the scilly isles by the ferry from penzance .not forgetting lands end and boscastle /tintagel

I visited as a child in the 80's and it made a lasting impression. Would love to visit the Scilly Isles by ferry that sounds great also Tintagel.

Pretty comprehensive walk round of the major parts. You missed Teetotal Street which I think you would have enjoyed seeing. You finished up by the Carbis Bay Hotel and the large sign G7 signifies this was where Boris hosted the G7 conference a couple of years ago. We stay in Carbis Bay every September though not in the hotel as far too expensive, I and get the train in. Loads of great restaurants and my favourite pub in the world,the Sloop. Well done guys

Thanks for the comments and the info regarding the G7 sign!!! We got the train back from Penzance to Norwich at the end of our holiday quite a trip! yes it's a shame we didn't stop at the Sloop it was really busy at the time but looked amazing.

Great video, thank you for letting us enjoy your trip. Weve been to St. Ives a few times, but not for a good number of years now. Maybe my wife and I should make another trip there next year ... the last time we were there, our kids were small .. now they are all grown up and have their own houses.
Thanks for the kind comment! St Ives is a terrific place and we were lucky with the weather on this unseasonably warm October day. Mousehole is very similar but on a smaller scale just west of Penzance video going up next week!
