Early test run of my autonomous steam engine
มุมมอง 295ปีที่แล้ว
I'm making a steam engine to turn waste vegetable oil into electricity. Electrical generation to come, but I thought I'd give an update now that I'm at the point where I can really run the engine and do some worthwhile testing. An Arduino will control the feed pump, blower air (flame power), and electric generation. The hope is that such an engine can do its thing without human supervision. (Ye...
How to cook puffballs fantastically.

The giant white puffball mushroom provides a great addition to soups, stews, gravy and more. They're easy to harvest, simple to deal with, and you can get creative cooking them.

Winter "plane crash" wilderness survival - two days awaiting "rescue."

Wilderness survival in winter Wisconsin, with minimal gear, following a harrowing "plane crash." Heavy snow, wolves and amazing scenery while struggling to stay warm and dry.
I have abortive entoloma

Fruitless hunting outing turns into an unusual feast. (Abortive entoloma is an edible fungus that grows in the woods. Not a human disease.)
The worst fishing trip in the world. (But we had fun!)
มุมมอง 884 ปีที่แล้ว
The worst fishing trip ever. But fun happens when this group gets together no matter what. Posting for my pals on this trip, but if you're really bored, or miserable from all the rain, maybe this will make you feel better. Dredged up files living on my old iPhone for two and a half years.
How to make deer fat soap at home.
มุมมอง 9964 ปีที่แล้ว
A lighthearted step-by-step guide to making your own soap out of deer fat, at home, in the spirit of using all the parts of the harvested animal, I guess. By the way, the sodium hydroxide lye I talk about is available from hardware stores, by the drain openers.
Hunting with homemade gunpowder
มุมมอง 5K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Deer hunting with my homemade gunpowder. Lots of people make gunpowder at home, but what's the point if you can't actually harvest game with it? This is gun deer hunting the hard way!
Wreath-making

I have a personal tradition of making wreaths around this time every year. Helps me get into the spirit of Advent. Also glad to keep last year's hardware out of the the landfill. Smells good, too.

Along with your other videos, I enjoy seeing your humble and respectful attitude towards hunting. Having a fun time with friends, and giving the animal justice after harvesting. 👍
Hello sir, where did yo find the pump for $80? I can't find it under $300 unless it's a cheap one on amazon. Thank you for the video
I got a cheap one on Amazon. LOL
I like your idea storing canoe easy to load on roof rack
👍
Под эту музыку работается лучше :)
My 2008 toyota Yaris is in same place. Same procedure. So much better then drop tank design
Keep that sense of humor! Nice find!
Personal favorite!
So for the hunters watching to learn if the odds of getting a deer are 25% you better have good friends around you and other hunting spots to fall back on or you could eventually go hungry
Really nice enjoyable video, well done. Congratulations on the deer taken. And yeah, what a beautiful scene off the camp porch. Good luck in future.
"Promosm" 🌷
Gracious Jon. Mind boggling. Well done!
Wow puffballs!!!
Drinking and gun don't mix slow your reaction and thinking down God bless
Good job.. love the molds...
Thank you nice set
real hunters hunting wild deer, instead of the big pets with huge horns and 1000 pound bodies raised in labs and set loose on fenced properties.
Exothermic reaction? sort of explosive. beware of the fumes
best video ever, keeping it real like youtube should be.. congratulations, and thank you
Thanks! Sorry about the audio but I'm trying to do better for future videos.
Are there any trout in the Pelican river, that you all can fish for at camp?
Nope. The majority of the river is slow and warm. We do fish for northerns sometimes if the weather cooperates. Never caught one in November, though.
Love watching this a couple times a year!
As one of the "Elders" of the Greatest Deer Camp in the World, Jon captured the spirit of the hunt. The minute that we pull in to camp the clock starts over from the time we last left. Greatest bunch of guys that I have the honor to have as my friends. I can only hope that others share similar relationships with lifelong friends. Thanks again Jon for a great video that I watch often with my family.
Amen!
This is so great. The soul of Wisconsin. So happy for you to have such a special place. Congrats on the buck and such great friends. 👍
Congratulations and thank you for sharing. I dream of making my own black powder and taking a deer with it someday.
This is the second time I've watched this video. Anxiously awaiting 2021 deer season. It's definitely the shortest week of the year and when it ends I'm always waiting the for the next year
very nice
Thanks!
Is throw a long dark reenactment
You should try Canada! We have been heating our rocks since the glaciers retreated! Good video to watch as I prepare for a trip to our Near North.
Thanks. This summer, I hope!
When you drag a deer like that I suggest you make a loop around it's nose to keep that from digging in and tie a stick to the rope as a handle to drag with. It keeps the rope from cutting into your hands. It works for elk I think it will work for deer. Just today I made some charcoal for my first batch of homemade gun powder. I hope to do a deer hunt with it soon.
Did the shot pass through the deer great job and you are right dragging a deer let's you know how in shape you're not. Thanks for taking us along with you. I live in south Carolina so no snow gust mosquitoes lots of them lol.
Yes, the shot did go all the way through. I was surprised there wasn't more of a blood trail.
@@jondrayna6978 thanks I was thinking the same thing the shot was good no deer Acts the same hope this year is a good one and thanks for sharing your trips. ps I couldn't find the video of the power making .
love this. Thanks for making this. Can't wait to do this. I currently do the skull whitening and flesh the hides and send them off to the tannery. I make handmade leather bags with fur on the flaps. This is great. One more thing to use from the harvest.
cool video, I cant believe it only has 300 views...it may take awhile for the almighty youtube algorithm to pick it up....
..there is this piston wax tracker..but still hidden knowledge technically .. a powerless totally mechanical + wax chemistry.. TH-cam & try to replicate it..
I said to myself. “Self, how could this be the greatest deer camp in da world?” All of a sudden der it was! Deer, buddies, and most importantly, da Packers hoodie!! I love dis deer camp! It is da greatest in da world!!
This is pretty cool man, good work!
thanks for posting this
nice
Thanks
Nice!!! Could you make a video on how you made the powder?
Nope. Others have good videos, but when some kid loses a hand, I don't want that on me!
Hello Jon, I just subscribed to your Channel 👍 I recently started making my own blackpowder as well, My goal is to eventually shoot it accurately long range. I live a few minutes from Buffalo Arms Co. Therefore i have easy access to most all brands, and Grades of Real Blackpowder, I shoot Swiss almost exclusively in all of my Rifles. I’m not sure that i will ever achieve the accuracy with my Home made Blackpowder as i get with Swiss? But I’m enjoying tinkering with it 👍
Good luck! I figure if you can hit a cantaloupe at 50 yards you can kill a deer humanely.
Do you have to gut the deer straight away or can you do it later on or even next day?
You need to gut it within a few hours lest the intestinal content starts to rot. Easiest right away before rigor mortis sets in.
@@jondrayna6978 Thank you for the reply.
@@jayytee8062 Oh, and besides the innards weighs a lot so you want to remove the guts before you try to drag the deer.
@@jondrayna6978 So true. I overlooked that part of it. Thanks Jon!
Miss deer camp, like this. All is changed now a few passed away, guys went different directions. Now my camp consists of me, occasionally my dad comes out for a day hunt. I love it just the same, but miss the old times like you have. Cherish it!
Thanks. Sorry about your change in situation. As you can prolly tell, we do cherish it. Was just up there a few days ago (alone) to fish and saw a bear. Very special. Where are you located?
@@jondrayna6978 Grand Traverse County, MI
In my experience a 50cal round ball will go right through a doe.
Congrats on your experience! How much powder did you use?
95 grains of store bought. And 100 grains of homemade.
Pretty poor video coverage
Innovation is refreshing indeed!
Drayna Powder
Scissors are wrong
No ball milling on that powder? Seemed really slow and like it was not well mixed. Created great power though haha Nice job! I may do this some day :)
I didn't go into the details on mixing because if a 10-year-old is going to blow his hand off, that can be on some other TH-camr's conscience! (The video clip of the ignition was slo-mo.) Thanks for watching!
@@jondrayna6978 yeah but it looked a tad slow But whatever does the trick! Thanks for the reply!
I'm surprised you hit either of them deer the way that buck fever has set in on you
LOL. Right. I'm always a little shocked when I pull the trigger and the deer goes down, to tell you the truth!
Enjoyed your video. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
