Hi everyone. I am an avid reader and sometimes avid writer -- channel changes and updates coming soon.
I've published a werewolf novel called The Forsaken Boy that many people seem to like and a collection of stories and plays that, well, I like (Amazon links below). I'm also the editor and publisher of CriminOlly presents Garbology: The GarbAugust Anthology of Awesome Trash, available August 1, 2024.
Cheers!

Stunning editions
Very relatable lyrics. At least for me. The score is smooth and even and the rhyme is subtle. Great piece sir.
Hi Troy! I am completely behind you with your assessment of Peyton Place. I read that book a couple of times and could easily read again. Wonderful writing and a wonderful story.
Nice one. 👏👏👏
Beautiful books to own and enjoy!
Thanks, Kent. They're threatening to overwhelm the structural integrity of my bookshelves!
@@troytradup Or maybe a new structural integrity will be born :)
I have the Julie of the Wolves trilogy on my TBR - hope to read it/them this winter. Unfortunately some aspects of literature don't stand the test of time from a PC standpoint but we hopefully appreciate them for what they are or tried to do
Of course, I suppose we're entering another phase of our history where cultural appropriation will become more normalized once again. For the few books they don't outright burn, I mean. :-(
Hi, Troy. I am new here. Pat sent me. Best of luck with your book. I look forward to listening to your poems. 🤗💕👍
Thanks, Constance -- welcome! Some of the poems come with language and content warnings, so be forewarned.
@ i am pretty open to cursing at the moment, but thanks for the heads up. 🤗💕🇺🇸
This one made me sad 🙁.
Yeah, I guess it was kind a sad point along the way. Those happen.
Great choices and congrats on your new book!!!
Thanks on both counts, Jaimee!

LOL. Not sure quite how to interpret that one. It means something specific on our assembly floor, I believe. :-)
I have _Whose Names Are Unknown_ but just haven’t gotten to it yet. I’ve never read Steinbeck either. I’ve read the Du Maurier stories and Grace Paley too. Du Maurier’s collection was great fun - she just let her imagination run wild. The rest I’ll take as recommendations, though of late my ability to concentrate - and my purposes in reading - have gotten scattered. I look forward to encountering your poems on the page soon.
OMG, my ability to concentrate is absolutely obliterated right now. I sympathize!
Hi Troy, thank you so much for reviving, my phenomenal woman tag. You almost make me want to read the vampire book and I don’t read, however.😊 aloha
Thanks, Marilyn! Angela Carter's writing is beautiful enough to transcend the scary bits. :-)
@ hi Troy, I’m tempted to start with her. Joining the community has expanded my genre Outlook. Aloha friend.
This was fantastic, I was madly scribbling down all these great recommendations. Go well Troy.
Thanks, Nathan -- hope you enjoy!
I have never been able to get through 'Wicked"...I tried a couple of times before going to the musical & I just couldn't get into it. With regard to the musical, I enjoy the music more than he story.
That makes my heart ache a little but hey, we can't all like the same things, right? Cheers!
Great video, Troy! Thanks for the kind things that you said about me here. Congratulations on the new book being almost ready for ordering! So exciting!! I love the books you chose for each prompt. You have so many wonderful short story collections. Thanks for doing this tag! 😊
Thanks for tagging me way back when. I was happy I had a reason to talk about about this group of short story writers especially. And there's so many more -- Ann Beattie, Lorrie Moore, Lucia Berlin ...
🐅😂
Thank you, kind sir!
Brilliant, Troy! ❤
Thanks, Pat -- we're in the home stretch now!
Nice bit of mail you got there, buddy! Excellent bookmark from Zach 👍 Love the artwork in Dark Gods - particularly the piece on the back cover, that's brilliant! I'll be diving into some T E D Klein next year for my horror project... 'someone' recently inspired me to buy The Ceremonies on an Audible sale so that's sort of what sparked the project idea off 😉 Great Bear Center jumper too! 🐻
I'm closing in on the end of The Ceremonies audiobook and the narrator is still going strong. I'd forgotten how much lack of suspicion Klein demands of one of his characters.
🔥🥵
Sorry, that was probably the harshest of them. Maybe. Um.
That is a pretty book. Creepy but pretty. Happy reading, Troy.
Creepy but pretty. I dig it!
Wow, very cool edition, Troy. I have really enjoyed three of the four stories in Klein’s collection.
Three out of four ain't bad. Hey, almost a Meat Loaf song!
Yay! Glad you like the bookmark! I feel like you deserved it as a Stephen king connoisseur! It’s crazy that the card came in after Halloween, I sent it out a week early!
Thanks, Zach! Mail service is so weird these days, but happy to receive your card and bookmark nonetheless! Happy belated Halloween!
I haven’t read horror (unless Poe is horror), but that _Dark Gods_ edition looks really lovely. Actually I saw the title of this video and mistook it as a poem’s title. I think it would work. 😉
I have a friend who has commented: "Apparently one can write a poem about anything." Perhaps I'll try to prove them correct!
⚡️
Thanks, David!
Easy question to answer for anyone watching this series of videos. 😂
That's a very nice thing to say. But hold that thought for the next two or three poems ...
😂 Honestly, I had no idea what to name my characters so I just thought I’d name them after my favourite book tubers. I had no intention of submitting it until I’d had one too many sherries on New Years Eve and caved to family pressure. I was truly astonished when the story was chosen and really hope no one is offended😬 it’s given me a new, highly enjoyable hobby ( suffice has two prequels and a sequel mapped out because it warrants it😂) and I can’t thank yourself and Olly enough.
No, no, we weren't offended at all ... although you do know what they say about payback, don't you? :-)
@ - that’s fair🤣 *gulp
Ow-ooooo! 🐺 Love, love, LOVE this one. My favourite by far, bud 😀
Thanks, buddy.
Such an amazing collection of great stories!!! It is such an honor for me to be a part of it! Troy, if you ever get involved in any sort of anthology, I will surely submit a tale. Your professionalism, editing, and style are unique and a real value to the writing world. Thank you again for giving me both something to brag about, my story is in there, and a book I will read many times in the years to come.
Thanks, Rod -- happy autumn!
Love this one, Troy.
Thanks, James. This is my personal favorite of the bunch, so I was nervous no one else would like it. Appreciate the comment!
I have frequently commented that your poems strike familiar chords with things I have experienced or thoughts I have had. i can't say the same about this one! 😉 At least, not on the surface level!
LOL. Yes, one of my early readers expressed dismay with this one. But it probably makes more thematic sense as a prelude to the next several poems that follow. Or maybe I just dig werewolves. :-)
🌗🌖🌕🐺
Ow-oooooooo.
Fabulous! I just watched Arron's review of "Sandman" and now I'm off to watch the reading of "Manhunt". I'm REALLY surprised that only 2 of us read our stories on video!!
I think it's kind of a daunting prospect. Just saw MJ had posted hers so I'll add it to my info section. Cheers!
Yes, I hear that A J Prior is working on a number of things too. If we're lucky we might see something new from them this side of 2030... 😉 Happy Halloween, buddy! Great video, I really need to check out those individual reviews from Arron 👍
LOL. Happy Halloween to you too. It's very cold and blustery here. Poor kids!
@@troytradup It's misty as hell here, very atmospheric. The mist is clinging to the hilltops, and there's a bunch of crows or jackdaws (something black and winged) circling over the fields. Perfect for the occasion! Hope the kids over there don't get blown away in their pursuit for candy!
Thanks, Troy. The last couple of review should be up today. I didn't know Shannon had a channel.
Very cool, Arron. I'll get caught up on them all this weekend!
Happy Halloween
Thanks, Paul! And to you as well!
Happy Halloween, Troy. 🎃
Thanks, David -- hope the Great Pumpkin treats you well!
"Incredibly dark and gruesome," eh? I'll take that! (Though I feel like fuzzy and warm-hearted, borderline cozy, would be equally appropriate... 😄) Thanks for all the work you did on this project, (including, if I remember correctly, proposing the idea to Olly in the first place)! With everything else going in I actually just finished reading the anthology a few days ago, and, yes, I am biased, but it really is wonderful. I read at least one if not two or three short story collections every month, and even if I had nothing to do with this project and just happened across it I would have had the same great time with it. You and Olly and all of the authors should be proud of sharing this collection with the world! (Is that too grandiose? I stand by it!)
Fuzzy and warm-hearted -- LOL! What did my sister say about your story? "That one is quite ... something." But she meant it in a good way. Cheers!
@@troytradup Well, I've never been accused of _not_ being something, so I guess that all tracks. 😂
awesome, inspiring stuff! I wasn't alive in 1992 so thanks for sticking around long enough to make the you that made this :)
Oh Troy...Thank you for this poem. So moving...I am so excited for this whole volume.
Just over a month now! Thanks, Pat!
Really powerful, buddy. I've been thinking about this one for a while since I read it, and it's actually kicked off some writing of my own (a idea I've not known what to do with for my own memoir stuff). Sort of connects back into 'Things I wish I'd Done' too. Things that I never said sorry for, to others for sure, but often to myself as well. And things I did apologise for which I really shouldn't have felt the need to. Is very raw at the moment, but I'll send it to you when it's more coherent. Thanks for the inspiration, dude 😊
You are very welcome. And always look forward to reading your stuff!
📖
Thanks, David!
Fantastic to hear this one again, man - great title poem for a fabulous collection. All hail Pat for randomly kicking off this adventure for you! 😀
Poor Pat -- it's all on her! :-)
'Trusted people who proved themselves trustworthy. Embraced the tribes who offered, flipped off those who pushed me to the margins.' - absolutely dude. I wish I'd done this way earlier in my life. There are so many great lines in this one, the more I read/hear it, the more I love it. It's really relatable, and expressed beautifully 😊
Thanks, Alex!
Excellent idea, my friend - I made a pledge to myself early this year that I'd do something similar. When I have a big haul at Christmas/birthdays, I have to get read of at least an equal number of books to that in the haul. Helps keep the collection to a manageable size, and makes me regularly assess which physical books I own are absolute favourites that I want to keep. Best of luck with the plan, dude! 😀
Appreciate it! As I mentioned offline, books are overwhelming me a bit right now. But I think that's more a symptom of other stresses I'm ignoring. :-)
Where to begin...🙂? In the interest of not oversharing, I will just say that for me, it was not Tarzan, but instead, the handsome men in my mom's afternoon "stories". I wonder if she was curious regarding why her 7 y/o son was so into "Secret Storm" and "The Edge of Night" ... Another memory inducing poem, partly wistful, partly humorous, but all powerful.
That's so funny -- how our moms had their "stories." I will admit to being quite taken with Quentin on Dark Shadows -- especially on those rare occasions when he turned into a werewolf! :-)
Catching up on your readings - got a bit behind on my viewing! Love this one, buddy. Reminds me how lucky I am that my mum has been able to come to see the plays I've directed (and has the programmes squirreled away in a box at home), and to exhibitions I've put on. One of the best things was being able to work with her and direct a play she wrote (the only play she ever wrote) at the Edinburgh Festival one year, many moons ago. Wasn't the sort of play that would induce tears, but we did get a fair few laughs, and the look of joy on her face watching an audience react to something she'd written is one of the best memories of my theatre days. Thanks for inspiring that trip down memory lane! 😊
Directing a play written by a family member seems very daunting! Cool experience for you, however, I'm sure.
@@troytradup Lol, nah, not with my mum. We work together well, we have the same approach to collaboration. And she's brilliant at taking criticism, and at giving it when necessary. Out of all the collaborative projects I've done, that was actually one of the least stressful!
So powerful Troy. Just amazing 😊
Thanks, Debs!
Just brilliant Troy. I’m so enjoying these 😊
And thanks again!
I absolutely love this one!!!!!
Thanks, Rod, I appreciate it!
