Aloha! I'm Noelani, and I'm from the Big island of Hawai'i! I LOVE to cook! Especially dishes that have been in my family for generations. Back in the day when we had pineapple and Sugar cane plantations people from all over the world would come to Hawai'i for work. There was a melting pot of ethnicity's which lead us to learning different cultures dishes. Most of them we still cook today! Now don't get confused with authentic Hawaiian food and "local style" food. "Local style" is its own category , its foods that has been fused with the different cultures like filipino, Japanese, Chinese and Portuguese food. And let me tell you it is AMAZINGGGGG to say the least! Now come join me as I cook dishes new and old that any true local would love. Lets go!
Experimenting Homemade French Fries - @pineappletophawaii
Aloha and welcome back to pineapple top Hawaii! Today we’re experimenting some homemade french fries. One of our favorite cuts is a thicker steak fry so we par-boiled (half way cooked) them to make sure there cooked throughout when we fry them and paired it with one of our favorite dipping sauces besides ketchup and ranch of course. #fries #potato #potatorecipe #homemade food

I moved to the Big Island in 2014, one thing I don't like about the restaurants is when you buy breakfast you have to pay extra for toast and some even charge $5 for two slices of bread. Also, some don't have a restroom. In Florida, a restaurant must have a restroom by law, and it should be the same here. Only the chain restaurants and some better quality one have restrooms here.
Dimple Cheek is no longer in business but a new owner is there, I had the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich and it was very good and a fair price.
sorry i am wondering on what heat level you cooked this, was it high? or medium-high ,
@@Chunleebunz808 cooked on medium high, thanks for asking!
i cannot wait to try this reciepe! think you sis
i always go to miki for get gene pastele stew now i can make em myself
@@Chunleebunz808 nice! Let us know how it came out. It’s definitely a go to recipe now for me. I was always so hesitant to make it till I got comfortable.
Wow, you guys are real gourmets! Thanks for the advice?
Venice?.....you should try and make it to San Pedro Fish Market!
Where you stay?

❤❤❤❤ Love the poke!
KTA upped their game 🤙
Ever since 7-11 got bought out by a Japan company they've been more open to a variety of options. Too bad they didn't buy out Sears. Oh yeah they own Times and Don Quiotes.
@@rayfujimori9833 whaaaa thanks for the info I didn’t know that
This makes me more comfortable with ordering from them
I'll add oil. Good suggestion. We can't have gluten, dairy or eggs!
Uhh. If you can't use bread crumbs, mayonnaise, or eggs, then essentially what you'll have is a chunk of ground turkey with spinach that's going to fall apart. But there's good news! Instead of egg, breadcrumbs, and mayonnaise, use vegan mayo and rice crackers (crunched up and squished into a powder). Put those ingredients and ground turkey, spinach, and or thinly chopped celery bits, as well as diced onion into a bowl. Protip--using Vidalia or the extra wide Sweet Onions will give it a hint of soul food flavor. Add salt and black pepper, and just a touch of garlic powder. Mix all of that together as rigorously as possible. Shape them into small meatballs, and then gently press the tops down (not as flat as a burger, just slightly flatter than meatballs). Place those in the oven at 400, and check with meat thermometer. Kid friendly loaf! :)
I live in Oahu,Hawaii. Inflation impacted us hard. Its crazy how high everything is. I am moving to maryland because i cannot afford hawaii. More locals are leaving due to the high cost of living.
@@chrissierodrigues9302 I’m sorry to hear that! Yes. It’s hard living here and it hurts me when locals move away.
Mahalo for taking us along on this 9th Island adventure! Looks like you had a fun trip! Love the views from the High Roller! 😎✈️🎸🎲
@@jayzeedeezee2837 yes it was! Besides the 110 degree weather 😅 it was great 👍🏼
Sooooooo ono
Gotta be Hanalei poi
Yummmmmmyyy
No bananas?
Thanks for the recipe! I have a lot of basil in my garden and I’m going to make this tomorrow! Only waiting because I don’t have the pine nuts, but I have everything else! 🪴
@@jayzeedeezee2837 Nice! I used Mac nuts before too, always experimenting lol.
@@pineappletophawaiiDon’t mix the pesto!!!
Noooo!!! Don’t mix it😭😭😭
Happy anniversary! Mahalo for sharing an awesome restaurant with us! Looks so fancy and ono! Love trying new/ reinvented dishes! 🤙🌴
@@jayzeedeezee2837 mahalo! Yes very fancy fancy 🙂 but the flavors is very nostalgic.
Thanks for the review. We plan on going soon.
@@marmeone nice! Let us know how you like it 🙂
Can you use any type of chili
@@ernieramirez1160 yes! Your favorite chili oil! Or crunchy garlic chili oil 😬
When you're adding the honey in there can you substitute pineapple instead of honey
@@ernieramirez1160 of course! Pineapple juice, crushed pineapple’s etc. it is sweet so like the honey can burn when pan frying. So baking or air frying is also recommended. Bake with foil on 350f for 25-30 min then foil off to brown 10-15min
Looks ONO!
So awesome
Yes! Do KTA on Kona side have them, too? Best mochi ever!
@@jayzeedeezee2837 hmmmmm good question! Im not too sure?

Do they have shabu shabu cut pork or beef in KTA?
@@Monaballard yes, a very small variety and more lean but they have beef or pork more batayaki style.
I’m sad. Our family is considering moving there from Oahu but shabu shabu is my number one food. I wish there’s Don Quijote or H Mart there 😭
Maui Tacos closed couple years ago.
Looks good
Wow, it looks easy and delicious. Except I don't deep fry. Any Coconut turnover recipes or places you'd recommend?
@@emarconi2785 mahalo for watching! , I do have a coconut turnover video if you wanna check it out
