I'd ditch the ferro rod and put another BIC lighter in its place. If you are in an emergency the BIC is 100% easier to use and easier to light a fire with. Also wrap both of them with some duct tape around them, its really handy. With the lint i'd suggest mixing it with some Vaseline so it burns a little hotter and longer for fire-starting. And put a couple of zip ties or a couple of meters of wire for keeping stuff together in a pinch.

My recommendation: Swap your compression bandage for a proper tourniquet - even if it were a Israeli bandage you can't occlude an arterial bleed as effectively versus a tourniquet. Swap the toilet paper for wet wipes (they make travel size) - it becomes multi functional for both cleaning your undercarriage but also anything else, field hygiene is so crucial. You can get a cheap map for your state - my local walmart carries a tristate map for $10 - a map increases your compasses use exponentially and the small ones can easily fit in a quart sized ziplock.

It’s absolutely how they do it today. Yeah they make different style tools some heavy some light. If I’m running a service call and only have to thread 1 end of one piece of pipe I’m pulling out this exact tool and using the bumper vice.
