What Does Automating Your Classroom Look Like and How to Do It
I am going to try this out this week for my Thanksgiving break. I am a first year teacher struggling to keep my head above water. Thank you for this great suggestion to get ahead and plan to single task during my planning times.
🤩🤩🤩🔥🔥
Thank you so much for your detailed information. This helped me out a lot.
Absolutely! I am so glad you found the information helpful <3
Great lesson! Thank you so much for this. It is so helpful.
Absolutely, I am so glad you found it helpful! <3
Thank you so much! I’m starting next month at my new school and I’m teaching second grade. I missed a whole month and I’m a little nervous about starting late, but this video eased my nerves!
Congratulations on the new position! How exciting! I have worked with several teachers who were starting later in the year. All of them went on to have a fantastic year! You got this, your students are going to love you. <3
@@ThePresentTeacher thank you! I started a week ago and it was amazing so far!
@@katrinabrown3561 Oh my goodness that's so exciting!!! I'm so incredibly happy for you. Feel free to dm me if you need any help. I LOVED teaching 2nd grade.
My last year teaching, so I’m going with eclectic. 😊
Congratulations! I think that is an amazing idea! <3
❤❤❤
💕💕💕💕
Yeah. Those rainbow carts are trash. I'm throwing mines away.
Glad I’m not the only one who struggles with them 😅😂😭
@@ThePresentTeacher I've gotten them from 2 different manufacturers and they're both trash. I'm going to see if Sterlite makes something similiar.
great tips!
Thank you so much! <3
That is a really good idea: to just pick 3-5 procedures at a time. 💖💖💖
Exactly! <3
This is probably one of the most useful teacher videos out there. I'm a 3rd year teacher this year, and you get right to the point. So many other videos focus on what you should buy, which gets annoying real fast. Your video focuses on how to actually set up your classroom. The stuff and classroom decorations aren't that important, what's important is being able to be an effective teacher.
Yes this! While decorations are great they aren't everything. Focusing on great systems is really going to help you out in the long run. That and you can focus on both <3
this was a really good video and would have saved me a LOT of headache when I just started teaching
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it! <3
Great video and so true….
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Great video! Going into my first year as a second grade teacher! What songs did you use for transitions?
Here are some of the ones I used: Coming in the morning: Kids Bop Playlist, Disney Playlist Whole Group: Hedwig's Melody (Harry Potter Themed Classroom), Let it Go, What Can I Say Except Your Welcome Independent Work: Happy (Minion Version), We Don't Talk About Bruno, Hakuna Mata Line Up: Count On Me Bruno Mars Transitioning Centers: Kidsbop Shuffle I also let me students choose after I did the first round, and I also picked any Kids Bop or Disney Songs they really liked lately, and/or any GoNoodle Songs they loved
Great
Thank you! 💕
I feel the opposite of you. I'm 50 years old and feel I'm not getting hired because I'm older. I have been a paraprofessional for 6 years and going an alternate route to complete my certification. The state granted me a license to teach but I can not move forward with the program until I get a job. I applied to 25 districts and have gone on 5 interviews and so far nothing. I feel my classroom experience and my age would put me at the top of the list, but I guess not. So I'm assuming it's my age. I also have 5 recommendations from all the teachers I've worked with and all of them recommended me and gave me great reviews. So the only thing I can think of is my age.
I'm so sorry you are experiencing this. I can't imagine how frustrating this must feel. Whenever I was on the hiring committee at my school one thing an experienced teacher did was she pointed out all the reasons why she was the best candidate because she was more experienced. She talked about how since she was more experienced she had amazing communication skills, she was great at resolving conflict, and how she was eager to help others in the building who may be new to the profession. I hope this helps <3
This is so true! Sometimes we have to stop listening to other’s well meaning advice and do what you think is best ❤❤❤
Exactly! <3
Love this! ❤ Thank you!! New sub here! 😊
Absolutely! I am glad you found it helpful! <3
Thank you! For some reason, nobody else shows the exact steps to doing this and I think it’s very valuable for all teachers to practice, practice and freshen up!
Thank you so much! I know exactly what you mean. When I first started there was hardly anyone talking about what procedures looked like. <3
I will begin my 32nd year of teaching in August, and I want to thank you for all of the suggestions and advice that you have given. Your first point is extremely important because some people are very eager to buy materials and them realize that they cannot use them or they already have them in their classrooms. When I started teaching back in 1992, I had only $70 and I could not purchase anything.
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you agree with these points I mentioned. Yes, so often teachers feel pressured to have a perfectly setup classroom from day 1. But the truth is a lot of things you can purchase and add over time. We all started somewhere. Your story is so inspiring, thank you for sharing!!
Good advice! I completely agree with you! 💝
Thank you! I'm so glad we agree <3
a suggestion about classroom libraries. As a former elementary school librarian, us your school library to supplement your collection. Change out the books once a month. My teachers would select the books leave them stacked on the circulation desk with their name. We would check them out and deliver to the classroom. In addition, if there is a particular book you want frequently for a project or unit, photography the cover or title page, right the call number on the copy. File with your unit papers. As you are preparing to teach the unit, drop the copies off at the library. We would then collect the books, check them out and deliver to your classroom. I know not all states have good school libraries, but public libraries can be sources as well, procedures will then be different. Since I retired technology has change a lot, so just adapt for those changes.
This is absolutely genius! For some reason I've never really thought of using our school library for books for our classroom. Definitely second this, see what your school district or school allows. Thank you for sharing this! <3
What a boring video, no offense
I’m sorry you didn’t find this video entertaining. I have other videos that you might find more helpful 💕
@rahmamohamed1336 Thank you! <3
Good points. I’m spending my summer getting ready for the upcoming school year, which would allow me to have enough time to focus on the aesthetics 😊
Jennifer this is amazing!!!!! I love how you are focusing on your foundations first and then aesthetics second. 💕 honestly I love summer and setting up my classroom for the school year. Such a fun time of year 💕
Great advice!!!
Thank you!!! 🫶🏼
These are great ideas :) I just semi-retired from teaching and your list is perfect!
Awww thank you so much! And congratulations on semi-retiring! 💕💕💕
nope I surely do not
I’m so glad to hear that! 💕
@@ThePresentTeacher i actually feel major guilt for not being a stay @ home mom to my little
THIS!!! So many of us become teachers so we can stay home with our babies over breaks. Yet too often it's so hard to because of the amount of work teachers are expected to do. I feel this <3
@@ThePresentTeacher 😞 I feel like I put so much energy into paperwork as a SPED teacher. & then with the kids. I just want to crash 💥 on weekends & I have a 6 year old

Hey! Thank you so much! I'm glad you're finding them helpful!💕
Thank you, this is super helpful! Sure teachers can benefit from this any YEAR! 🎓
Thank you so much! I agree that this is definitely something we all experience no matter the grade level! 💕
Beautiful
Thank you! 💕
Great list. As a pre-k teacher, we do most of these. I need to do a water procedure.
I know so many of these I learned through trial and error. How did your procedures go this year? 💕
Brilliant suggestions 🎉
Thank you!
