Lean on the wall. Your hips are not supposed to move
@@aaronsmith2719 agreed! i just wanted this angle so people can see what my feet were doing since i didn’t want to film from the angle with my hips on the wall
@@ginaturner9660 ok but why film doing it wrong? Thats silly
I don’t get what you’re saying here....but then again I didn’t see the comments you’re talking about. Keep up the vids
Just found you on my TH-cam who are you??
Hi friend it’s a interesting video thanks for sharing.
Taekwondo is a sport not a pure .artial art also one of the most vulnerable parts of the body is the knees shins or ankles the throat is an area so your a hack of all trades and master of one
Know just what part of the anatomy you're referring to...but wouldn't a kick to a males balls be more effective using the instep of of your foot?
I do Aikido where we do not target the groin and learned how to protect that area.
Isnt taekwondo a sport rather than a actual fighting art I have been involved in the arts for a long while and just looking at these kicks they're good for the dojo but their effectiveness in the street is questionable
can you break a watermelon with kick :) ?
not behind their neck... on the back of their head with forearms on traps... basic plum grip. if you put your hands on the back of neck it wont pull a strong person's head down. you really shouldnt be teaching self defense. just saying.
What is your martial arts background what belt are you ?
Yes Gina Love this, I've had my splits full down when I was younger and this has given me the encouragement to start working on getting them back thanks for sharing this
I love this! Thank you for sharing ☺️ It’ll take time but I know you got this. Just keep working on it 🙌🏼
Hi gina am slowly making progress with my front splits, any tips or advice would be great ?
Hey Alex! I actually have a video filmed for front splits that I recommend ☺️
Hi gina That's great where abouts do I find it??
look through my videos or you can type in Gina Turner Front Splits in the search bar
Hi Gina Have only just come across your channel, and what a great video, do you have a self defence video showing knee strikes? If not would you be able to make one?
Hi Alex! I would recommend checking out my “how to throw effective kicks” video! Enjoy and have fun learning ☺️
Hi gina Thanks for sharing this for me, I've just watched it and what a great video, really well explained, would a knee to the groin be effective if I'm held close in by an attacker? Hopefully soon I can enrol on a self defence course.
Hey Alex, if you were really close with an attacker then it wouldn’t be the best choice however if there is some space then you can try it! i think it really depends on the situation and where you’re placed with your opponent ... if you don’t have to room to knee with power then why throw it?
Cool, well I would certainly try and throw a punch, but if I was a little distance away then I would definitely knee to the groin for maximum impact to disable my attacker, any other tips or advice you can give would be great
What you mentioned is perfect! Just be aware of where you are in that specific situation and make sure you have distance between you two
Hey! Cool technique but how would you counter a larger opponent throwing a head kick?
Great question! If you were in front of someone who was bigger then you, why would you aim at the head when you can’t reach it? Wouldn’t you try to aim somewhere else that’s reachable and be more effective? The point is to get in and out. Not to do something fancy when it’s not in your favor. But to answer your question, just aim somewhere else.
@@ginaturner9660 oh I meant if they did a kick. How would you counter thier high kick? I can send a video of my kick in question if it makes it more clear the type of kick I'm talking about!
Oh! I read the question wrong...well if you’re in a sparring match and your opponent is going for a head kick, i would block it by putting arms to the side of my head that is being kicked. If i was in a street match, i would just back up because a lot of people will not be throwing a head kick in that type of match because it isn’t efficient
@@ginaturner9660 is there an email i can send the kick? itd be cool to get your opinion on it as i dont see a video for it on youtube! my email is tajjat624@gmail
@@lordvishnu7438 there are a million videos of people defending head kicks man.... not that hard to find. anyone throwing a head kick in a street fight or an attack against a woman is an idiot.
Should I kick a boy in between the legs for self defense? Does that hurt a boy ?
That question is answered in this video ;)
I doubt an assault from a boy would be that serious. How old are you btw? Now if a man tried to abduct you, then kick him under the groin as hard as you can. He will fall down in agony, and may be rendered unconscious.
will u say pop 4 times wen u stand on ur head again i heard it was fun i would like to c that comment me bk
🥴😍
Love the video! I've been doing Krav Maga and found that it's particular tough to do damage to men with groin kicks when they are wearing cups
good for you and having that krav maga experience!
@@ginaturner9660 have you seen a solid kick get through a guys cup?
Amanda A yes i have. but amanda, this isn’t something that you’ll be thinking about if you were in a street fight because men don’t wear cups just because
@@ginaturner9660 Yeah that's true. I was just thinking about it more in my Krav competitions and how the move can be effective against a cup
Amanda A ahhh i see...that does make more sense. I wish you luck in your future competitions!
Would you ever knee in the balls or always just nose or stomach ?
check out my video on kicking and you’ll get your answer there ☺️
Just watched this while getting ready for work!!! So spot on and thank you for spreading awareness on a lot of misconceptions people have!! Also YES more self defense stuff😍😍😍
Awh!! I'm so glad you enjoyed this video!! with everything being shared right now, I wanted to create a video that incorporated a lot of the misconceptions in one video! that way my viewers can get a little bit of everything and they will have some foundation if they chose to go out and do some more research! ooo seems like you enjoyed the self defense videos!! I'll try and get creative with them and i still need to upload my new yoga video for you :D
Good common sense advice in a world and industry were common sense is nowhere near common enough... great video as always Gina, thank you :)
That is definitely true. People want quick fixes but with these quick fixes, they aren't learning sustainable and healthy habits to allow these results to be long-lasting. Thank you for the compliment, I appreciate it :)
Great video! :)
thank you 😊
Thank you for these videos Gina! If I might sugest a topic for the next video I belive one where you talk a bit more about clinchfighting and what to do if someone manage to take you to the ground would be very useful :)
thank you Simon! I actually love your idea!! however, i don’t have someone to work with, would you still be interested in a video where it’s just me but trying to showcase the movements without a partner?
@@ginaturner9660 well it would of course be a lot better if you had someone to work with but in your own words it is better to know a little than to know nothing so if you don't belive you can get a partner in the near future I think it woul be good if you did that video on your own. If you find someone in the future that could be episode 6 "how to train selfdefence with a friend" :)
okay thank you for your honesty ☺️ i’ll definitely try and put together a video showcasing this to the best of my ability!
Looking forward to it :)
Thanks so much for sharing this content Gina (: I'm in Missouri where gyms are still open (for the most part!). One positive COVID situation has been that I've been a lot more flexible with myself as to "what" my workouts look like. I would be disappointed if our gyms had to close again but thankfully I've found there are other ways I can enjoy fitness without lifting weights (: Hope you are well!
I hope you are enjoying yourself in Missouri right now 💛 that’s another positive way to think about it for sure! use this time to focus on other areas of fitness to create a well rounded program 🤗 I hope you are feeling well too girlie!
14.40 your dog is thinking "what are mom doing???"
i know 😂 she’s the funniest
"Knowing something is better than knowing nothing" so true :) If possible I think it would be very beneficial if you had a friend with you and showed some ways to drill these tecniques in a safe and productive way :)
I'm glad that you like the phrase I used! I think it is valuable information for any area of life. I really think that is the best way to showcase the moves is with a partner. I just have to find someone now who is willing to be in the video with me :)
Great discussion and demonstration! Looking forward to follow this series, subbed :)
Thank you Simon! I appreciate it a lot. Hopefully, I am able to film some more videos for this series soon!

Love this idea Gina! My mom has a punching bag at home at I used to love using it in high school. I never really knew what I was doing though 😂 Hooks are always my favorite
awh Emily! I feel ya! There is so much to do but how do you know what is effective? How do you know what combinations to throw? That's how I decided with this video, because someone brought it up to my attention about this! Really?! I don't usually hear that about hooks, so I'm glad hooks have a fan!!
Respect from *Russian Flexible Guy* ♥
why thank you!
It's really nice video 👍 Can be youtube friends 👌
Thank you :)
Do you recommend hitting the nuts? Good video btw👏
thanks for the compliment! in my opinion, do what you have to do to get out of that fight. the only thing about hitting in that area is if you miss or not hit hard enough, you might be in some trouble... but if you are able to make contact, great! Just make sure to quickly leave afterward
Great video I'm learning women's self defence and a teacher told me to target a man in his eyes and testicles can you make a video on the different most effective ways to attack a man in his eyes and testicles?
awh that’s fun! i’m glad your taking it :) i’ve never heard of that before :o in my opinion, there is no proper technique when it comes to eyes or groin...when you’re in a fight, you’re doing what you can to those two areas and if you are close enough to be attacking the eyes, i would aim towards a different target... as for the groin, it depends how hard you hit because everyone has different tolerance level but make sure you’re subscribed for future videos where i’ll touch on these ... thank you for your input by the way!
This Is actually really helpful
I'm so glad you find it helpful! I am very stoked to share more. I know this video was more talky, so that means the next video will be more "action pact" !!
thanks for sharing 😎👌 something i can try at home

Thank you girlie! The brand is Incline and I bought it from Amazon. I did buy it a couple of years ago, so I don't know if they have that pattern.
I just checked on Amazon and didn't see the brand Incline. However, if you type in leaf yoga mats, they will show mats that have a similar design to mine!
